  1. have you tried contacting Discovery about this....surely they must have thought about it?
  2. So...... should I enter with my XC rig? (don't have anything else....except for a roadbike..)

Yes, I totally agree with you on the coaching part. Especially with swimming. But the bike maintenence (offorad), running shoe costs (trail and road), race costs and swimming costs count up I had single coaching session not too long ago just to get the basic pointers. Too expensive to do weekly.

So most people here do a sub 27 mile?! I still have a lot of minutes to shave off BUT I'm biting the bullet and sinking some cash into our super-special pool(???) - I had a whole thread dedicated to it - by increasing training frequency: swimming 3 times a week (instead of 1)... for 2 weeks now showed some "instant" improvement. Kind of common sense seeing I only swam once a week. I can get start to get the sense of glide - but more on one side than the other. Dunno if it's a OTB-shoulder-ACL injury still nagging. But the point being: improvement!
  5. Ya....but at least the gym benefit does not disappoint... edit: spelchekerr
  6. The new app is a lot better than older iterations. I was able to claim a voucher while standing in the queue today. Probably took 30secs from opening app to getting to voucher (including entering password). A few months ago it took about 5min - if there weren't any snags. I had to screen capture the vouchers beforehand because the app was so unreliable. I found myself at the front off the queue a couple of teams like "sorry....one moment....app is just loading....... I'll have the voucher ready in a few secs......" etc. Now it's all history. Also, newer, faster phone also helps I guess. edit: Engrish

Regarding swimming. Does anyone else struggle with sinus problems in chlorine pools? My nose gets so stuffed up that I feel like I've got a cold for the rest of the day - only feeling fine again the next day. A gave a nose-plug a tri (har har) yesterday and that seemed to solve the problem by 95%
  8. Okay so my Friday evening post aint as exciting as Cyclewizz's. Does the Kulula-Vitality-Active-Rewards-100%-flight-discount-rate work? Or was it just another marketing scheme? Doing some planning for June / July where this may make some difference. Sorry if this has been posted before. Literally too lazy to venture into the deep dark corners of the 3000+ post thread.
  9. Are there any people taking part for fun? I've done an XCO once, only to be dropped hard in the first lap. I could use a cold coming up as an excuse....but these guys were just next level.
  10. Honestly, I do not know who would pay R25 for a VIDA coffee. It's not even worth a free voucher. Maybe if you drink enough you get used to it....like Ricoffy. Yes, I'm comparing VIDA to Ricoffy. I have never had any bad service though - staff is always overly friendly. On Discovery: I actually haven't had any problems in the past few weeks. Even their "discontinued" Suunto connection still works at the moment.

Any tips to get below 2:00 / 100m swimming pace? Also, how long did it take you / how did you get into a relaxed swimming rhythm - swimming faster, yet more comfortably?
  12. Anyone done the Stellenbosch Mont Marie trails yet? Shoutout to the Stellenbosch Trail Fund for doing what they do best. It's like the Red Phoenix trail....but in Paradyskloof-ish-area. One word: Whooohoooooooooooooo
  13. I think I got Limbonitis. I'm not fully sick, but just have an annoying amount of post nasal drip and elevated HR to not be fully gesond either. You might think I'm an idiot for saying this but I wish I actually am sick so that I least know how to handle this..
  14. Might be the shoes - especially if they are old or have a lot of km's on them. Fitting may also be an issue - like tight shoes (you can re-lace your shoes in various ways to help with this). Pronation / gait issues typically cause ankle / lower problems. I've had similar issues with a specific pair of ASICS. They used a cheaper rubber compound on the outsole that did not wear well. New shoes solved the issue. If you can, try and wear a completely different pair for the same distance to see what happens.
  15. Does this happen with one pair of shoes or all pairs? And what shoes are you wearing? Also, both feet or one foot?
  16. Hold up. When did carbon-spoked MTB wheels make a comeback? I saw some at the Cairns XCO livestream as well. Pretty insane: "...wheels are still just rated for XC, Marathons, and regular trail riding. With the move to 27mm wide rims for better low tire pressure handling and still using Bike Ahead’s standard hookless tubeless-friendly bead, the RS wheelset... ... weigh 1100g (2.43lb) for the 27.5″ versions and 1189g (2.62lb) for 29ers, all for 3300€. "
  17. When will Cannondale finally make up their mind between internal / external cable routing!?
  18. I mean, we're talking about a workstation Laptop here. Not some Mac / Studio stuff. My phone has better sound quality.
  19. Anyone got $50 000 to spend on Sennheisers? http://en-uk.sennheiser.com/global_images/image/file/8200/orpheus-product-sennheiser.jpg
  20. But what about interference? On my Laptop for example I can hear buzzes and beeps such as harddrive noise as a navigate around on the desktop. Surely an encoded signal wouldn't include any of that noise?
