  1. Talk about missing the boat. As stated here a few times PPA WANTS to leave the sport side to CSA. They are arguing that a funrider turning out for a funride organised by PPA shouldn't have to pay a CSA levy of R35. Nowhere do they claim they want to tale over racing and administration of cycling in SA.
  2. Definitely felt better than I do right now, my ribs were intact, I could breathe normally and I wasn't popping painkillers by the ½ dozen daily.
  3. http://sports-livez.com/ or http://www.steephill.tv/
  4. That's worse than calling a New Zealander an Ozzie! Only in Spain it'll probably get you killed. Alberto Contador was born on December 6, 1982, in Madrid’s Hospital ‘12 de Octubre’. He has lived all his life in Pinto, the small town just south of Madrid where his parents relocated in 1978, immigrating from their ancestral home of Barcarrota (Badajoz). Alberto maintains strong ties to many friends and family members in Barcarrota today. You can't get further away from being a Catalan than this.
  5. And to add insult to injury, despite us all having to pay R35 extra per race to CSA, the pro riders are taxed 10% of their winnings by CSA. Business class travel is expensive, and our administrators deserve to sit up front when attending events that they can't afford to send athletes to. Is this 10% tax the real reason for sanctioned events? Guaranteed income at the expense of competitors?
  6. Buy a pair on auction right here from asg and you've scored a new set and kept some change.
  7. Be careful out there. Makes me sad that someone falls just that little bit worse than most of us do often and this is the result. Such a fine line.
  8. While I thought they were absolutely great and so easy to use, the market disagreed completely and they were a sales flop for Shimano. I loved the tap up or down on the brake lever to change gear, in fact, it's taken me years to get out of the habit.
  9. Don't I feel you pain... Last Friday I hit the mast and had an awesome descent. Until the 2nd last corner on the tar. 48.4kph to 0kph in 6 metres. 3 days in hospital, fractured ribs, collapsed lungs and some damage to the stomach muscles. Thank goodness nothing serious though, just strong pain killers and highly immobile for 10 days now! All because I've done that path at speed hundreds of times.
  10. Race radio is worse...at least the rider needs to read his own power meter and know where he needs to be. Rather than just be a machine following instructions.
  11. Put it in the freezer and hope the seat post contracts slightly smaller than the seat tube as it has less carbon thickness.
  12. The next 19 days are going to be very long. Maybe it's replay time of some of the classics from the 90's when men were men and everyone else was doped. Perhaps the '97 vhs of Big Jan taking advantage of The Eagle's inability to absorb enough EPO to remain competitive and defend his jersey.
  13. Thank goodness Cavendish saw the error of his ways in joining Sky and moved to Quickstep. At least now there are 7 stages of le Tour that we will see a different train on the front!
  14. As you are not grinding the gears XX1 has nothing to do with your pain. Look elsewhere. But it was a nice red herring to use so we all now know you have a XX1 setup!
  15. What cadence are you spinning at when on the steep stuff on the 42? Really grinding below 65?
  16. Will someone please tell FroomeDog his glasses are beyond ugly. They're fugly. Stupid bug eye look with white frames.
  17. Impressive performance from Sky and Froome. It doesn't always make for entertaining TV but Sky's resolve to ride the bumps at their pace, ignoring any attacks, is something we've not seen too often in the past. The standard was to chase every attack, Sky has absolute confidence that the attacker will red line and pop. That must take huge courage to stick to when the likes of AC go up the road. But as we saw here, they get a few metres and then drift back. In the old days everyone would follow and most would red line.
  18. I'm surprised at how easy it all is for Froome. He just seems to turn up and ride, like he's on a VR trainer. I'd just love him to lose those stupid white rimmed bug eye glasses that look like a throwback to the days of gaudy fancy dress parties. Has he never looked in a mirror?
  19. Pity the TV (and worldwide streaming) coverage only starts at 12:55 today with the Alpe being ascended at about 10:20. Organisers still have a lot to learn about exposure and coverage of cycling. Why put the good bits at a time when no one can watch?
  20. Don't think so, this is an all new rim designed to give AC an answer to the Crest.
  21. Same prices as Crest, or maybe a bit less, like the weight difference.
  22. I received my first batch of American Classic 101 29er rims today. What a gorgeous looking black aluminium rim with plain subtle AC branding. Lighter than the Crest but reputed to be much stiffer, I can't wait to build up a few sets to see how they perform. 25mm external width, 21mm internal width and 18mm deep. Just weighed a few samples. 101 came in at 375g, Crest 402g. Both 29er 32 holes. http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server1100/j3yxlj/products/61/images/347/58612__46719.1370534095.1280.1280.jpg http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server1100/j3yxlj/products/61/images/348/ac-101rim-1__12243.1370534097.1280.1280.jpg http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server1100/j3yxlj/products/61/images/349/101-mtb-rim-angled_1__79179.1370534099.1280.1280.jpg http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server1100/j3yxlj/products/61/images/350/RIMM0807__67808.1370534102.1280.1280.jpg
  23. Some photos of a future mtb star? Weekend at SA Champs. And the bike!
  24. Don't think they'll climb this again? It's getting done twice on the same day this year!
  25. The only thing that is missing is the VR Trainer with real life video - kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
