  1. I always mount the magnet in the pedal hex hole using epoxy. Just find the strongest magnet you can that measures about 5mm round by 8mm long and stick it the hole and epoxy it in. Never falls out. And no cable ties around the crank. So unsightly that. Only hassle is if you want to remove the pedal, I have had to drill the epoxy to get an allen key in once or twice. Of course you could always use PD520 or 540 pedals that have a 8mm internal hex and a 15mm external wrench.
  2. awesme, once linked to a heart rate belt and cadence sensor the gamin GPS will only pick up those devices. To link you need to go into bike settings for the cadence and user settings for the heart belt. You can also set up 3 bikes on the 500 for cadence so each time you ride a different bike you don't need to re-link, just choose the right bike from the bike settings menu.
  3. Welcome to paradise!
  4. And what else have you ridden? It's highly relevant given your feedback.
  5. A bit retro but cycling from 60's
  6. You don't have to: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/44392-29er-dual-suspension-carbon-frames/
  7. Top saddle to centre BB 85.5cm! Has it's challenges finding frames that fit.
  8. After the DC (top speed 83.5 kph) I thought I'd share my beauty again
  9. If weight doesn't bother you go with the HG51 or SRAM PG 1031 or PG1051. All 3 will last... Use the KMC chain link, the only 10 speed re-usable link. I have the park tool chain breaker, the park tool multi tool chain breaker and a chain breaker on the topeak multi tool I used to carry before I bought the Lezyne C-10. All work fine, specific tool is easier to use but not worth the expense if you change a chain once a year. the multi tool ones are fine if you have KMC chain links.
  10. Crank length makes ABSOLUTELY no difference to BB hits. Maybe to pedal strikes but definitely not BB strikes.....the only thing that CAN make a difference to BB hits is reducing the head angle by decreasing the A2C of your fork.
  11. Is that CycleLab or Avnic taking the time? Avnic in that place in Muizemberg generally fix issues in a few hours. And if it's software related it's normally free.
  12. The double tap is very easy to use, on the back the right finger has a short push to make the gears harder and a longer push to make the gears easier. But the real "amazing" is the bullet like shift, almost like you pushed a button and it moved, it doesn't feel like you are pulling or releasing a cable. On the left side, the front, every push changes the ring, either up or down and again it feels like a button was pushed and a motor did the rest. Changing rings under load is no longer an issue. The all internal cable run also makes for a stunningly clean install. But is it worth 9k more than Ultegra? Not sure. But lighter stiffer wheels really are worth the extra in terms of ride upgrade.
  13. Wheels. The EA90SLX are great, and at 1330g are about 300g lighter than the EA70. The EC90 on the other hand are about 80g lighter but cost at least 5k more. If you're thinking of spending more on the drivetrain, the 2013 SRAM Red will blow your mind. It's amazing.
  14. Exactly which Southern Suburbs races cross railway lines?
  15. If PPA stop organising races they cease to have meaning?
  16. I really believe it's PPA job to promote all cycling and that includes the Southern Suburbs fun rides. I ahve been hearing stories of lack of funding as a reason why the SS rides are no more, it costs R30k for traffic control etc. So WHAT? PPA and Cycle Trust make millions from the World Championship Fun Ride every year, plough some of that back into what must some of the best amateur fun ride/racing in the world around the Point. That's how you promote cycling, let people ride in safe and orgnised routes on roads with beautiful scenery and great climbs.

  18. Streaming, not on the TV.....it comes down the interweb and my PC has no language button on no remote....
  19. And Robertson
  20. 61% of 1.3mm, wow, we are going to get soaked!
  21. Is it possible to change the language choice on dstv streaming?
  22. A diving air tank holds about 500 tyres worth of air and is amazing. Just remember to use a regulator down to about 4 bar! As diving is such a safety conscious sport their tanks are discarded way before they can't hold air on land and you pick them up for nothing.
  23. I specify Racing Ralph with Snakeskin on all my builds and find them to be reliable, light and grippy. I have also swapped Icon's out for RR for plenty of racers but never the other way round, mainly when dry loose stuff is the order of the day. Edit: c not k in icon
  24. Thanks V12man, a mate has that mounted on his trailer, the wheel lock is close to what I want.
  25. Fizik Dual over a Fizik gel pad. Gloves are not for comfort. They're in case you crash.
