  1. Santa Cruz Juliana.
  2. K2C you just have to survive the first 5 Kays Wapad and then the last short steep climb at about 90K's, the rest should be a breeze. Have ridden my SS 9er only once since I got it last week...was flippen hard climbing in Eden...do you get used to it and does it get easier riding steep areas without gears?
  3. Funny the chic on the Mountainbike in the front of the bunch!
  4. Looks legendary!
  5. Nice bike Dylan. I have been looking everywhere for a second hand Peace 9er but they are like hens teeth. Looks like those who buy them, love them so much they never sell them! I ended up getting an On One Inbred SS 9er with carbon fork off ebay UK last week...can't wait to get into riding it! It's fitted with a 32 x 17 which on the 9er is too heavy for where I ride (Eden in Stellenbosch)...its in the shop getting a 19 rear sprocket fitted...what ratio's do you guys ride?
  6. Does anyone here commute between Somerset West (Steynsrust / Helderview area) and Stellenbosch (Technopark) OFFROAD? I have been scouting some routes and you can pretty much ride most of it on gravel through farms and vineyards. I'm keen to give it a go but the motivation of a partner in crime would help. 7. So is NO-ONE here common or Zeff enough to have attempted spraying the rims on their bikes?
  8. nice bike....wish i could get my pool that blue!!!
  9. I just picked up a bike with all black finishing on it except for the rims and was wondering if it was advisable to spray them or have them sprayed, and if I was going to attempt to do it myself, how to go about it? I am not too pedantic about the finish as long as it doesn't start peeling after a week like one of those home jobby window tintings you see on taxi's. Oh ya disc break wheels so no issues with the sidewalls of the rims.
  10. That singlespeed looks awesome.

    XT and X9

Ride the XT till it's stuffed....fit the SRAM gear at the end of the rainy season.
  12. How awesome are the riders in the photo!!???
  13. Difference being that you don't drive in the middle of the road obstructing traffic at 30 kays an hour. It's your life, do what you want, best you hope you don't get mowed down by a taxi or a redneck in a truck.

    eBay buying

I've been looking around for a good deal on a singlespeed 29er but battling to find anything....I don't think 29ers have been popular around here for long enough for much choice to be available 2nd hand at this stage. On ebay not that many sellers willing to deal with international buyers and shipping costs seem to be crazy on bikes from the States to RSA...maybe someone can tell me or recommend a cheaper freight option?

    eBay buying

Anyone got any info on whether you would pay import duty on a second hand bike bought off ebay?
  16. That On One would be my choice for SS Rigid but in all mountain guise....Chumba it up, my good man!!!
  17. Any idea who stocks the Bianchi SOK 29er?
  18. Serious dose of Q20 and try again. Else drill out the bolts taking care to stop drilling before you destroy the base plate.
  19. I haven't tried the others but the using the IDT with a MTB wheel with a slick on it makes one hell of a racket so much so that you can either not hear your telly or you drive everyone around you nuts by turning it up too much. I'd go for the spinning bike.
  20. Tim Turtle nice setup. I tried to pm you before my last trip to JHB to bring you those books but your inbox was full. Will stay in touch or maybe just mail the darn things....
  21. Smiles all round. What weight did the Shova come in at?
  22. Awesome....this a replacement for the Mbuzi? Let me know when you feel it is time to say goodbye to this beauty...
  23. https://www.bikehub.co.za/printer_friendly_posts.asp?TID=47030 Did a bit of a search and think I answered my own question.
  24. Bit off topic Crow but why did you decide to go for the Mbuzi rather than a Shova ST? Rode the ST this past weekend and it's more machine than I will ever be able to break!
  25. Rode both the Anthem X2and Trance X2 this last weekend...both were awesome but depending on the type of riding you do, I would definitely consider the Trance before the Anthem, especially if like you say you enjoy hammering the downhills and technical stuff. More travel, more comfortably riding position, yet light enough for XC.
