  1. Oh ya and had an attempted break in at my house in Somerset West...they popped the back door with a screw driver or crow bar of sorts...luckily the alarm went off and the okes bolted. Worst of all is one of the okes shat in the garden...must have been a bit benoud while scoping out the scene of the crime!
  2. I had two youths try and bikejack me on Papegaaiberg in Stellenbosch a few years back...one with a knife...the other had a stick...luckily I was riding the wifes GT that day as my bike was busted and I am way more scared of her than I was of them so they had to leave the scene of the crime empty handed. Another rider wasn't so lucky shortly afterwards and got stabbed a few times. Numerous incidents were subsequently reported...Papegaaiberg used to be awesome...now it's just too dangerous to ride there.
  3. Boy oh boy did they pick the wrong oke on the wrong day to mess with. Would have paid big money to see that...LEGEND!
  4. Dude if I had a Dale with a Lefty I'd also give it to my gardener I think this is a brilliant initiative / concept and would love a copy. Would you accept photographic submissions if they are suitable? XTC12010-05-11 04:29:44

  6. Awesome, would love that in SS guise. My next bike / frame once the Inbred 29 conks out will hopefully be one of these!
  7. And here's RaymondC's view from the other side. This was taken from one of the upper contours of Helderberg looking out towards Steenbras.

    RST fork service

Interesting thread on the RST M29 forks http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=333016&page=3<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=388104 Like More Wood says, does not look like a job to tackle over six beers on a Sat arvi.
  9. Zula I am 90 on a thin day and that's without enough provisions to feed the WWF Road Show for a week and 3 liters in my Mule so I doubt you'll have any issues.
  10. Zula I am running a non UST SB8 as tubeless on the rear of my trail bike...have had no issues whatsoever and ride them quite flat. Great tire for the back, used it during an extremely wet W2W race in November last year and didn't have spinning / grip issues. I do however have something a bit grippier / higher volume on the front but for the Cape Summer I would use them both sides without reservation.

    RST fork service

Care to share? My RST M-29 is losing pressure and is in need of attention after W2W this weekend.
  12. What time does the Friday course run? I've been wanting to attend one of these for a while but it is going to be tricky taking Friday off after taking Monday off.
  13. Tell you what Johan, if you take MY Fox rather than one of the two above, I'll let you service my RST Air M-29 as well. No charge. I'll even throw in a RP2 shock if you want.
  14. Excellent honest and quick service always. Nothing dodgy about Wayne except that he is a Kiwi but he's not a bad one as they go.
  15. If you are running ghetto the sealant should not really be touching the rim at all but be between the tire and ghetto strip. Anyway odds are I'll destroy a rim in a hundred other ways long before sealant causes it to split. No Tubes website doesn't advise against using them either?
  16. Noli don't worry about the Nevegals, I've used a variety of non UST tires tubeless and have yet to get a sidewall cut and I ride over rather than around things. On a WTB Wolverine with very thin sidewalls I did however get sidewall "chafe" at the bead from running at too low pressure but there were drops onto a flat landing involved. Forget about silicone and all the rest, if you have enough slime in you'll get them sealed sooner or later, just persevere.
  17. Ghostface you'll have to wait no longer, my buddy uses a ghetto conversion on his 317's and his works fine!!! I'm sad to head that you shouldn't convert "sleeved" rims as I have a pair of 29er Sun Ringle EQ27 Sleeved rims on the way....gonna give it a go nonetheless. Are sleeved / pinned rims not strong enough or what would the reason be that it should not be used?
  18. Peace 29 is SS specific. I've looked at putting an Alfine on my Inbred and it'll cost you a minimum of about R2500 to have a wheel built up around it if you buy everything you need from CRC
  19. Nevegals are good. If weight / cost is an issue you should not have any problem running non-UST Nevegals as tubeless.
  20. Before with an SDG Grand Prix - also very comfortable but this saddle is trashed. Similar to the On One Bignose I think. After. OK so I've posted this before but I just love the look of this saddle! My ass loves it even more. In her happy place - Jonkershoek.
  21. Chris why don't you get yourself an older rigid MTB with slicks for commuting and then get the MTB ship-shape for mornings in Eden / Helderberg / Jonkies? The best of both worlds will always leave you lacking on one side or the other. (PS I have an old rigid Giant ATX gathering dust on the indoor trainer which I'm not sure what I'm going to do with if you are interested? Welcome to come check it out...you know where I live!)
  22. Throwing your GU packet over your shoulder like Mr. yellow number U12104 with the blue Cannondale CAAD4 in our bunch decided to do on the Blue Route and when asked whether he threw his trash on the ground at home as well telling me "it doesn't matter they pick it up afterwards anyway" Spoilt my mood and cemented the fact that I should rather just stay the hell off the tar. If anyone knows him please say Hi and while you're at it to take his litter and shove it!!! There, this has been bothering me since Sunday morning but I feel much better now. XTC12010-03-16 13:31:21
  23. Brooks B-17. Half a kilo of cow certainly wouldn't make a weigh weenie blush with envy. These saddles are renowned for having to be broken in....this one wasn't bad off the bat but took a few rides to break in, has to be covered when riding in the rain...needs special hide feed every few months....a lot of admin but man it's comfy. I'm even thinking of putting it on my other bike for Argus on Sunday.
  24. I have also measured below 70mm with all my weight on the bars. I mailed Kiwi and quote his answer below: "The M29 forks can be increased to 100mm travel, there is a separate part available but our shock technician has found that you don?t need the part as existing damper tube has two positions for the travel stopper on it and it can be moved between the 80 and 100mm travel positions." - Kiwi
  25. Hi, Can anyone here 1. confirm whether the travel on a 80mm RST M-29 Air Fork can be increased to 100mm by swapping / changing internals 2. if so what the job would entail and 3. whether it's a job best left to the pro's? Cheers and thanks in advance, XTC12010-02-26 02:01:47
