  1. Such a tjop thing to say.
  2. Yes. I've abused mine since 2008 and have only recently started to consider replacing them, but can't really justify it, because they're still absolutely fine. Consider this within context of me having gone through 3 different stems, 3 different bars, several seatposts, and many tyres in the last few months, and 4 bikes in the last two years. EDIT: Damnit, just realised this is an old post. Never mind though, my opinion still stands.
  3. If those are your Strava stats in your footer, it looks like you may be one of those riders...
  4. I know several riders who can be on shopping trolleys and still make most of us hub experts look like monkeys.
  5. Yep, there is no point in getting frustrated or trying to nail a Strava PR on busy days. I redid several sections on Vasbyt yesterday as a result of traffic, and tried to be as friendly to the beginners as I could be. I have to admit though I got a bit annoyed at the clearly-not-beginner race snakes winding their way up the densely bushed parts of Vasbyt and not even acknowledging me or apologising as I slid off the trail and into the brush dodging them.
  6. My honest opinion is that riding up Vasbyt is just plain silly. It really shouldn't be a bi-directional trail, it's just too narrow for that. This is logically why I never ascend it and always use the jeeptrack, as boring as that may be. Fairy Garden is I reckon as narrow, visibility-limited and fast (it's not) as a bi-directional trail can go...
  7. I have to say, this piece is now perfectly shaped and flows sooooo nicely. I can't jump for @#$ and still managed to get a huge (for me) amount of hangtime off it this morning. The landing is practically impossible to stuff up, so it's a perfect jump to learn how to go big on...
  8. Nice! Looking forward to giving it a go soon...
  9. Same here. It's fundamentally impossible to offend me.
  10. In that case, Nobby Nics are your answer. Get a 2.25 for the front, 2.1 for the rear.
  11. My new Truvativ/Bontrager/Xposure cockpit. Plus: Yes, that's a Reverb remote!
  12. Interesting. I'm guessing Red Bull giving each of the top WC DHers a GoPro for promotional footage purposes (seems new this year) is obviously in line with UCI rules, which differ from CSA rules? Edit: I see you've clarified the Red Bull footage aspect...
  13. If you're a (boring) marathon/funride/dirt-roadie type, I agree with you. If however you're a trail/enduro/AM/DH rider and you also see utility in having a pretty good wide-angle camera around for other duties, then yes.
  14. The actual bar itself scares me much more than a GoPro does.
  15. Don't worry, as someone who would usually not be keen on "dumbing down", I agree fully on this. Mamba is ridden by too many beginners to have a rock garden of that difficulty (and danger) included. Smoothing it out a bit will - if anything - increase the flow for us guys who tend more towards the gnarly stuff and enable us to carry more speed through it, so no harm done!
  16. Welcome! A few questions to help: - What kind of riding do you or would you like to do? Long, smooth dirt road rides, or shorter but more fun rides with lots of trail obstacles? - How tall are you? - What's your budget?
  17. Interesting. So what's good looking in your books?
  18. A press fit BB is a complete unit, with bearings, seals, spacers, connecting tube, etc. It of course needs to match the format of your cranks, so if you have GXP cranks, you run a Pressfit GXP BB, if you have BB30 cranks, the same story for this format.
  19. They're a bit more difficult to get in and out. Instead of screwing, you knock them out with either an expensive tool or homemade jig (large flat screwdriver, or piece of pipe, and hammer) and press them in with once again an expensive tool, or a piece of wood and a rubber mallet. A little bit of effort, but not the end of the world. What cranks will you be using? GXP or BB30?
  20. Weirdly, it's been exactly the same for me!
  21. I know! It's actually a pretty gnarly runout, I got some air over the crest and very nearly smashed my front wheel right into that rock when landing, the line is quite narrow through there...
  22. Yep, the one pointed out below. Pretty easy to get caught out by it... Yes yes, I know I forgot to clip my water hose in!
  23. Well done to everyone who helped, I hope the "crazy 60 year old" recovers quickly!
