  1. Yep, I agree. I would have disagreed up until the last 2 or 3 years, but modern FS rigs are making the argument a bit of a silly one. As an example, the 160mm bike I had the pleasure of riding this weekend (granted, at an eye-watering price) climbs virtually as well as my hardtail does, but descends better in most circumstances than a full-on DH rig from 5 years ago. It's a brave new world.
  2. I've ridden the 2015 Camber Expert Evo over some pretty gnarly stuff at speed. Granted, the Pike does a lot of work on the Evo model, but the Camber chassis is more than up to local Enduro-style riding. It's a *very* capable bike.
  3. I bought 5 adapters and connectors to go with one of these yesterday to get it to fit onto a different tap and connect to a washing machine on the outlet, cost me R180. How far is Makro compared to your local HW shop? For most people, the fuel there & back would be far more expensive than the R25 saved. That, and the fact that I'd much rather support the local HW (mine is awesome!) than those useless @#$s at Makro. I can't stand Massmart's corporate culture. The guy at my local Mica yesterday opened and tested 3 different connector packets for me which he then discarded, all just to get the correct combination for my setup. I'd like to see anyone at Makro try that...
  4. Nice! Geniet hom.
  5. You do realise this is a 140mm trail/enduro bike?
  6. This question has many answers from many different people.... but... if you're going to be doing stage racing and won't be messing around on technical stuff, you'll probably be better off with a 100mm bike. Most local stage races don't include anything technical enough to make a slack-angled longer-travel bike necessary.
  7. Yip, the stuff is pretty impressive, can even be used to strip a frame to bare metal!
  8. Funny that, I like it *much* more than the Camelbak version. It doesn't behave like a 14yo in a brothel full of supermodels when called upon to do its thing...
  9. Yep, my old man had a set on his 110 and they were noisy as #$% on tar.
  10. That was insane! There's one shot showing her bike at the point of bottoming, pretty serious stuff...
  11. So just to be clear... I'm with you on being with him on his post you quoted... but not on the post I disagreed with. Overall, for the stated purposes, an Anthem will be better.
  12. Haha, just about every sentence in your reply is technically incorrect.
  13. My suspicions are that this will either be a direct port of the 110 with the same geometry, or a 100mm bike with a 70deg HA.
  14. Pffft, and you mocked me about sitting in the library & sauna in Leogang. Stop freakin' hubbing and get on the trails!
  15. OK, so I know a ONETWENTY650 isn't "exotic" enough for your tastes Crow, but I'm surprised it's not been mentioned yet. At the speed a ONETEN29 can already be ridden, you won't likely reach the limits of its longer-travel stablemate... All boxes checked except the plastic part, stealth routing one can always make a plan with. Losing a kilo on a bike like this is overrated, the fact that my ride is metal doesn't handicap me, and I'm way lighter than you (just saying!)...
  16. The best post I've seen on here for a long time...
  17. So... http://dirtmountainbike.com/fresh-produce/unveiled-new-2015-specialized-demo.html#!bpUm60
  18. Ag nee FFS! This is my usual route on the way to Tokai, albeit never in the dark (I'm too much of a cold-weather-avoiding-pansy)...
  19. A few things: 1) Less un-sprung weight makes for less inertia to overcome and thus increased sensitivity, and 2) Gravity helps the fork seals stay constantly lubricated thus reducing stiction, and 3) Less overall weight due to the crown-less design (but with the fancy hub being needed, of course), and 4) Supposedly, more stiffness (also reliant on the fancy hub)... All in all, the primary benefits are largely improved sensitivity and better tracking.
  20. No, he's actually a cool guy.
  21. Quite amusingly, R3000 is also what an XT set can usually go for on a good day.
