  1. I think it was dry/powder cement. Saw a rider standing there obviously just after his fall with just his eyes visible. He was not happy
  2. What I don't understand is that people know exactly what they getting themselves into. Just vote with your wallet and keep quiet. For me the past weekend was great, it is days like stage 1 that will be remembered for years. I am really shocked at some of the complaints and how soft people are getting. If you want a 5 star holiday than go to the Maldives and if you enter a mtb event expecting the water points to be hotel quality than you are missing the point.
  3. For me the water stations had more than enough. The people was friendly and the variety was sufficient. I cant imagine what else is needed
  4. Great day. Wasn't nearly as muddy as anticipated. Looking forward for tomorrow.
  5. Current predictions is 25mm for Friday
  6. I rode Paul Cluver yesterday and there is alot of freshly graded sections that is loose and sandy ( puffy and dry sand) which is going to make things interesting with that amount of rain.
  7. Hi guys. Any weather predictions from the locals? Looks like some rain.
  8. I have a Silverback Sido 1. With myself and bottles etc etc ...92Kg
  9. kudos on your team mate for completing. I have only done the TB in 4 man teams and we have a rule that no matter what we stick together. We have done many races and sometimes you are the hammer and sometimes the nail. I have learnt that riding next to a struggling team mate motivates him and when I am the nail I am constantly looking for someone to pace me when i struggle.
  10. Hi David I dont understand the power at 150bpm. Why 150bpm?
  11. Charging event organisers R30-R40k for access is ridiculous. What is so special about Stellenbosch? I know for a fact that land owners in the Overberg does not even ask a fraction of that even for events like Epic, W2W etc. I am speechless
  12. I was riding behind the bike when the crash happened. There was a crash in front of the bike and he had no choice to brake/stop. Alot of riders passed the bike in the neutral zone and that is a recipe for disaster.
  13. Ppa events/racetec timed events in theory is supposed to give you a seeding index based on your ability. What boggles my mind is all the people with A numbers these days. They force themselves in front in the first couple of Km just to hold everybody up and then they blow up spectacularly.
  14. Ag no man.... it was nice passing all the gravel bikes in the last 5km
  15. Looking back and after chatting to some of the people involved it was clear that it was " one of those days" where everything went wrong on day 1. For me good customer service is how you react to criticism and your attitude towards clients and fixing what went wrong. They did just that and with a smile. Despite day 1 the crew is very friendly and obviously they work hard to host a mtb event. I for one was negative yesterday and dished out criticism but I must admit that they stepped up big time and that is what impressed me.
  16. Day 2 feedback: Event organisers came to the party, they apologised for yesterday and promised a great day 2 which they certainly delivered. Race started on time and route was very well marked. Route had everything from open roads, single track and nice climbs. Could see that the organisers was relieved. I will be back
  17. For me they dropped the ball completely. From early on the trail run was a complete stuck up, mtb start was delayed and then delayed again. Route was poorly marked and people got lost big time. They said there was going to be fires and after buying a nice juicy steak they said no open fires allowed. I give them 2 out of 10. Not to mention 2 way traffic on single track wtf were they thinking
  18. Entered for both days, weather is looking good
  19. I started in the fast group both days, never had any issues. Especially day 2 was very fast. Great event
  20. 29er dual suspension with 1x12 setup and knobblies
  21. 7 years now. Also went the cold Turkey road. For me it was the routine and social aspect of smoking that made it difficult to quit. Tried a puff at a boys night a couple of years ago and luckily got so sick that it completely stopped the cravings.
  22. looking for a team member? 7 hours. Friend of mine looking for a spot.
  23. jy kan maklik die domste ou wees in die land
  24. Great idea! We will be able to identify hotspots and patterns with in a few weeks.
  25. what a fast race today and the weather was perfect
