  1. That article was full of fluff and contained no technical information. However, it does raise a concern to UCI's weight limits of frames. What safety considerations did they include to come up with a magical figure of 6.8 kg's? I doubt they included a 'crumble zone/aborbtion' factor when they considered carbon fibre frames. Therefore it could be possible that a 600g steel/aluminium frame is is 'safer' during a crash than a 800g carbon frame, but for general riding induced stresses, the carbon will perform better. Unfortunatly like all engineering fields, safety aspects only get some exposure when some horrible accident happens (read Contador crash).
  2. Ah ok, I thought the 31.8 is the standard 'non oversized'. I learned something new now
  3. I don't understand your issue with "oversized bars".
  4. Chris F, is that you? As long as it is traceable, it will get you into trouble. So its quite difficult to attach a time-span on the drug. Edit: Just spoke to my GF that gives Cortisone injections daily : It has 3 days half-life, but still traceable for 2-3 weeks.
  5. I agree with SkiStar Grooves in the gantry section will keep the saddle in place and be a indicator to show cyclist where to hang their bikes. (To prevent spacing problems)
  6. It is definitly a grey area in mountain biking. If each person takes turns leading out, thats fine with me and actually helpful. But I have experienced that wheels-suckers creep behind you on a long dirt road for 10km, only to rush to pass you before the next singletrack section. Meh, unless you are a podium contender it shouldn't bother you. But I do however feel that putting Tri-bars on a mountain bike and drafting behind a mate should generally not be allowed. 8. Nice read. Do you have have chronic hypertension?
  9. How about taking it one step further: The Hubsa is as central as it will ever get, so maybe talk to Matt (Admin Guy) to take charge of the Events section. You can run it as your own site and it will include the hub's allready brilliant infrastructure, just giving some royalties to the main site's owners when you make big bucks. Include a standard set of maps. profiles, facilities and accommodation venues. My 2c My 2c.
  10. We were there in December. Austria had their warmest winter in 20 years, so there was basically no snow for 3/4 of the trail. Its insane to say the least, I couldn't even walk up most the trail. Their smallest kickers will probably launch your bike 5 to 8 meters. I spoke to a few local students that rode most of the trail and each of them bragged about their crashes and bails in a sort of broken english. There is even an insurance available in the summer months to cover you for injuries treated by the local medical university if it is bike related.
  11. July 13. All information is on ASG's website
  12. Haha, if you would've asked this a week ago, you could've went to the Klipkoppie Fees. They hosted a 20km race there and it was quite tough (400m ascent). I doubt that they will give access to the public though.
  13. Is it also fenced off now along the complex along Keiskamma Strret? I used to ride there quite a lot, was a really steep downhill for the guys who got bored of doing Fort Klapperkop. As far as I know there won't be a trail, only a 4x4 access jeep road for servicing the storm drain underneath the N1.
  14. Hey Ricardo Gaan ry 'n uur lank alleen voordat julle saam begin. Dit sal jou ten minste meer oefening gee. Is julle nog in PTA?

  16. @Tunariaan Why did you fit your GPS over the toptube? Where do you get your motivation from if the PEDAL DAMN IT is covered?
  17. I asked the same thing. The group will probably finish at 13h30 (44.7km/h average).
  18. Taken from Cervelo's website: But where is the tipping point? "Col de la Tipping Point" How steep does a climb have to be before the weight savings trump the aero gains? As we saw before, the answer depends on the rider weight and speed, as a faster rider would encounter higher aerodynamic forces while the gravitational forces stay the same. For an average, 250 Watt rider, the tipping point is around a 5% slope, for a good pro who puts out 400 Watt, it’s at 8%. http://www.cervelo.com/en/engineering/thinking-and-processes/weight-vs-aero.html

Im planning on watching the end of the stage tomorrow in Vuilbijl. What time should they finish if they leave Clarens at 9:00?
  21. Heading should include " ...and stop smoking a carton a day"

    Niner EBB II

I have no idea who would stock them locally. Its a too small niche market. Competitive Cyclist stock them for about $90. Maybe ask around if someone wants a Niner rigid fork and save a bit on the shipping. I would also get a few extra grub-screws as well, they just look a bit flimsy.
