  1. Cmon pippo call him. Ask for the serial number on bottom bracket and I bet you it’s stolen
  2. A few hundred bucks from Sportsworld
  3. #theBeanInWhichToBeSeen #DoYouEvenBeanBru
  4. You don't follow back tho'
  5. I went with my wife and son and a mandate to "NOT BUY" or else, so between nagging they were distracted enough to check out the kid zone, I squeezed in an Adamo saddle purchase. Thanks to Mark @Adamo @ISMSaddles who gave me a great price. Love the ride. Made me 0.5km faster over an hour hahaha
  6. @V12man- what speed are the riding at?
  7. All arguments aside. If you must carry it, I say keep it on your body. If the vuil gesig moers you off the bike, at least you can access it. I personally have a Glock 23 and paid so much money to make my bike lighter, cannot carry my firearm cos Im a weight weenie!
  8. Not familiar with those brands, but have a mate who bought an Axis road bike, who rides at our club. After a wipeout it buckled rather easily and it weighed a freaking ton. Not my opinion, just hearsay! Now if you can go to your local bike shop, say Linden Cycles ( I use them and know they rent bikes and allow rides on 2nd hand or demo bikes) get a feel for a bunch of different bikes and select based on ride feel. If you can budge the budget and are willing to take a chance with a 2nd hand bike here on the Hub, I do own a GT Zaskar and they are often on here for R7000-R9000. Just check the seller reputation, take a friend along that knows bikes and be patient
  9. If rustic is not in your plans. I quite like this stand. It uses less spaces and if you're like me don't like to wedge your spokes in one frame, I'm leaning towards this!
  10. Where can I find any of the Wahoo Protkt or Reflkt or similar handlebar mounted hard cases for iPhone 5 in JHB? It can be any brand name, provided it's robust and easy to remove and most importantly WEATHERPROOF! I am in JHB and found one at Gadget shop Cresta for R799. Is there any other decent options and better priced cases? See them on Ebay for average R350 but then it's the long wait and the gamble with Customs and Pilfering dept.
  11. Lord have mercy on his soul. RIP fellow cyclist
  12. My seeding index is 32.66. Are we still on track? My calculation shows 3:15.....
  13. Not in the habit of enjoying other's misfortune, but I just had to laugh when I saw this sequence of pics on http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/cycling/10842025/Amateur-cyclists-celebrations-that-were-his-downfall.html Note to self...stop letting go of handlebars on downhills!
  14. the last few seconds of this "How to" video is where I suspect many KOM's are secured....Just check the current KOM in for example hill 1 into the Cradle and I see your 78km/h up a hill where I crank away with my fat ass at 18km/h and I look at the rest of your rides and see you; >have the same race pace as me >only have one or two KOM's >ride once a week at 24km/h Then I susppect its acquired with a bit of motorised assistance
  15. Awesome news. Was just posting your pic on FB
  16. ANy sunglass store. Paid R50 from sunglasses shop in Cresta
  17. Saw him. Gave him a thumbs up. He was driving a support car and the broom was his own initiative.
  18. 8 hours a week. Will budge the time budget. Do the TITS and base training, suck wheels, share the work up front AND hopefully find a group who rides daily and are marginally stronger than me (oe wont mind riding at 30km/h). Now..... who rides in and around Randburg, Blairgowrie Mon- Friday
  19. I have entered and am online and seen 2 different dates for the Momentum 94.7 race. According to these sites its; 16 Nov http://www.cyclersgu...es/Qualify.aspx 15 Nov http://www.cycletour...seeding-events/ Seems like16 Nov is correct. Even with an advert obscuring the page. http://www.highveld....cycle-challenge Now back to the question... How do-able is a sub-3 94.7 if you have 6 hours + 2 spinning classes a week to train? I am a novice and can muster a race pace of 31km/h but am more comfortable not revving in VTEC for 80km of the race if I ride at 28-29km/h. Any ideas, tips or pointers will be appreciated.
  20. Update: I managed to find a welder in Strijdom Park who does work for Linden cycles and he completed the job for me in a day. The frame was painted by a professional painter in JHB and matched the pearl white pretty closely. All I had to do was polish the surrounding paint to match the colours. The bike has been used on 4 big rides already and my colleague has accumulated 40+ Strava medals already. Not bad for an old bike
  21. Have to agree. If you wait and keep a close eye on classifieds, you can get Ksyrium Elites or similar for R3000. Awesome wheels and makes a monster difference
  22. UPDATE: SO at the end of April I eventually migrated my car and bike to King Price. When the 1st deduction goes off its +R300 more that its supposed to be. I email my "broker" (should read joker) and he reads my emails but does not reply to my request for an explanantion. Even just an explanation that the added cost is an ADMIN fee and I would have been happy. After a week I CC their "clientcare" department on my original email and still nothing. SO I call on day 9 and cancel the policy forthwith. I am now back at Outsurance and even though King Price offered to reduce my rates even further, I went with the guys who have mastered the art of answering calls and emails. Customer Service 101.
  23. Have to agree. + for a GREAT cause! might be guilty of being a bit of wheelsucker, but a good snot rocket will get most wheel suckers off your back! At Cyclelab club rides in the lower pace groups, I'll try tow, BUT ever notice how when youre in the peloton it feels slow. The moment you get to the front you see how the top speed starts dropping a 1km/h....till someone passes haha Only been doing this for 6 months + 2 months of socialising. I'm a noob, but I figured its to tire us greenbeans out! Good to know! Still trying to get a hall pass for Tour of Durban
  24. Thanks JP Prinsloo and the organisers for a job well done. Had a great ride. Any Hubbers doing early morning rides in and around Blairgowrie/Randburg?
  25. Anyone ride the Wilro Lions 114km race on Sunday? How did you find the experience? My take.. On registration i found that the website wasn't very clear how to select group to ride in and I did not want to ride in "open seeding", asssuming it to be similar to the Cape Argus open seeding ( read... guys in Barney outfits and wedding suits having a piss-up on the way) so entered in my age group to try and ensure a better group and decent pace with the added assistance of the peloton tow. Turns out I needed a National race license and I was offered an AL number instead of the VB number initially issued. On the day it was immediately evident that the scale is much smaller than any of the 2 (Argus and Dischem ride for sight) races I have raced in and was very worried when the announcer said there'd be no road closures and although there would be marshalls out on course and that we would be sharing the road with other road users. The groups were small and were released more than 10 min apart (a curse and a blessing). In the groups I found it was less jostling and pushing and everyone was well-versed in group riding. Most guys kept their race line and gave gaps and allowed space for other riders because of the traffic situation. I was surprised to see so many guys take turns to ride the front. I saw no incidents, bar one rider slide on sand on a turn, but he thankfully managed to stay on! With my measly <32km "race pace" to hang on for +- 20km with the AL group. The surging and slowing was strange and tiring, so I got dropped on a huge climb. (Note to self HA and HIIT.) The next group was so far back that I rode alone for at least 30 km, but when I got picked up by the BL group it was an absolute mixed bag of riders. Many CL-AL, BL and Vets all riding together. This was a more manageable group and although it was still hard work I stayed with them till 90+km in, so I had a good ride and am happy that the last stretch was pretty flat. I had a pleasant overall experience and I will definitely ride this again next year and hopefully will be able to improve seeding and my pace before then.
