  1. Jip, and my whole family are as sick as dogs - I'm staying clear of them!
  2. Jip, that seems about the only thing working for us at the moment...
  3. ^^^^ You answered your own question...
  4. I'm very happy we won, but we were very lucky. The interruption to their innings, Miller getting a second life, chasing a lower target and a wet outfield making the ball difficult to grip for their spinners. Everything worked in our favor, but that's sport. Let's hope they can continue saving the series tomorrow. However, I can't see it being that easy again...
  5. I agree 100%. In addition a couple of points. 1) The requirements (from the municipalities) to host any event are getting more difficult to meet - adding to the cost. 2) People are more difficult to please in general (including cyclists) and expectations are sometimes not realistic. 3) Roads are more congested affecting safety - and full road closure is almost impossible. 4) More and more people are feeling the effect of the economic downturn and just don't enter that many races anymore.
  6. Good start by India. With such a low total to defend we need to put pressure on them by taking a couple of wickets. Once they start tumbling...
  7. Ek wonder hoe lank die Proteas nog dieselfde kan sĂȘ...
  8. Wow, AB is special - scoring at more than a run a ball when everybody else is struggling to get to terms with the conditions. I really hope he can stay there for some time. Maybe then we have a fighting chance...
  9. Not the start we hoped for...
  10. It is possible that the watch uses the average HR at the time when the watch was removed and there was no HR signal, i.e. it sees the activity as being finished even though you did not stop the timer. When you then stop the timer it takes the total time from the manual stop, but doesn't recalculate the average HR, hence the discrepancy. To add: If you left it on your arm for that time the average would be below 60%...
  11. I struggled with this last week when trying to link a new account for my wife. In order to solve it I had to change the privacy settings in Garmin Connect. The message is confusing, but the way I understand it Discovery is not getting the authorization from the Connect App - if the account is set to private. It did show Discovery as connected in the App though and I removed it before changing the settings. Also, I managed to solve it before I got the Discovery reply, but the reply was useless - even had the e-mail address to link spelled incorrectly! Hope this helps!
  12. Braamfontein (note the upper case B - apologies for the snobbery... )
  13. Has your friend seen their latest calendar? Lets just say it's not what it used to be....

At least he got the Kings to punch above their weight by playing as a team with a bunch of no-name players that nobody else wanted...
  15. I'll need to seriously up the training for this - it really isn't delicate....
  16. Good luck all!
  17. Very excited (and nervous ) about this one. At least I have a reason to train over the Christmas period! luthere, just check the dates above and on the event page as linked - it is anywhere from 28 March to 28 June....

    Go WP!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Jip, it looks like we'll be alright with only some rain predicted for Monday. The last couple of years have been dry and dusty, but my impression is that the routes shouldn't be impacted that much by rain and should dry out fairly quickly. Looks like we're not going to suffer in the heat this year!
  20. I don't do a lot of races and it took me a couple of years to get get my seeding to the point where I could start in A batch in Sani (Adventure) this year. I have literally started in most groups from A to M over the last couple of years and there is a major difference in skill level between the first and the last groups - both in riding ability and being alert to the riders around you. This is something that has to be learned over time and yes, for some it's quicker than for others. Personally I don't feel improving your seeding using an e-bike would be fair and it will lead to more risk to the non e-bike riders. If you want to race, don't ride an e-bike. If you want to ride one in races, start at the back and stay there as you chose to treat it as a leisurely ride and not a race.
  21. +1 (at least...) I cannot recall ever seeing a single smoker actually keeping his bud in his car and this really boggles my mind - and that's only after I get past the fact that they are inconsiderate enough to smoke whilst there are other people in the car! Must be one of the most selfish habits out there.
  22. Entered, although next year the CTCT is not the main focus of the weekend. I cannot wait to go to the XCO world cup race in Stellenbosch on the Saturday and that makes it totally worthwhile for me!
  23. Isn't it ironic...
  24. Yoh, life is harsh sometimes and stories like this brings the reality home. Very thankful for what I have. Sincere condolences to the family.
  25. Me too, have only had excellent service from Evo and specifically Janos - more times than my wife needs to know...
