  1. Awesome, thank you very much. I am interested in the Vivoactive 4, but for me not the wife (she might however take a 4S if I am able to convince her). So if you can add one of those it will be fantastic. I would prefer the one with the black / slate https://www.easybike.co.za/garmin-vivoactive-4-slate-stainless-steel-bezel-with-black-case.html But as a second prize this one will also do https://www.easybike.co.za/garmin-vivoactive-4-silver-stainless-steel-bezel-with-shadow-gray-case.html
  2. If you can add one of these it will be awesome https://www.easybike.co.za/garmin-vivoactive-3-music-black-with-stainless-hardware.html I am trying to convert the wife from Fitbit to Garmin
  3. CWC still have good prices when compared to other online or brick and mortar shops, however like others have said whenever they have a sale they like to inflate the RRP quite a bit to show a bigger discount. But if you look at the discounted price only and ignore all the other numbers, it is normally a very good price, and therefore I still buy from them. I just make sure I know what the item cost at other stores before I do the purchase. Same as with the black friday hype at the moment, I will only buy something I am really looking for and that is on a good discount (because I know what the item more or less sell for) Edit: Grammar
  4. Very true , I should have written that better - meant that it doesn't feel it is continuously over revving
  5. Apologies, I just realized I understated by about a R1000 and R500 respectively - will fix my original post. Had to replace 2 as I got a side wall slash on the N1 on a conti. I phoned around a lot to try and find tyres, the Conti's was actually R3200-R3500 (was end of 2017), and everything else was in the same range. In the end I bought a tyre called Davanti (model DX640) sold by Tyremart for R2200 - I did lots of research about the tyre before I bought it, was scared it was chinese rubbish and would have the same issues as so many others, but found they used in the UK and had pretty good ratings all around (including in the wet). Below is one of the reviews I found about the tyres on a UK site http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Davanti/DX640.htm Tyres are holding up well, no issues, and wear is normal/minimal. I bought 2 more begining of 2018
  6. I see you mention you are looking at the 1.5DCI Qashqai. I drive a 2015 1.5DCI Qashqai (it is the new shape, however there was a face lift about a year or 2 ago), I am very happy with the car, I bought it as a demo with 65km on the odo, and it is now just shy of 120 000km, I have had no issues with it. It is light on fuel (have averaged 5.6lt/100km) over the last 4 years. It has all the nice features (except maybe for a rear camera there is a model that comes with the camera I just bought one that did not have the spec feature installed), it does however have PDC so no issue for me. Power is also ample even in 6th gear The only "real" issue I have with the car is the rims and tyres, the car has the design spec which means it comes with 19inch rims and fairly low profile tyres (225/45 R19) for a SUV, and privacy glass and roof rails. It is great for road handling but not so great when driving on gravel roads, and unfortunately going to many bike parks in PTA there are a few gravel roads. You feel every single bump in the road and can't really go faster than 40-60 depending on the road condition. And they are expensive to replace (Original Conti's is about R3200-R3500), I replaced them with tyres that are +/- R2200 a tyre. Therefore my suggestion if you buying a Qashqai and will be taking some gravel roads now and again, look at the one with the 17inch rims. Sorry for the long reply, but back to your original question. I have the same feeling about the CVT gearboxes although I have only driven them in test cars so can't really comment from a personal perspective. I have however heard the new generation ones are quite a bit improved than the previous generation. A friend of mine drives a 2.5 X-Trail with the CVT gearbox, he says he is very happy with it and doesn't feel the gear changes, and it doesn't feel like you are stuck in a gear (like the old CVT gearboxes). He says depending on how nice you drive and the amount of traffic (he stays in Cape Town) his fuel consumption is between 7 and 8.5 (lt/100km), if his wifes drives it is between 9 and 11 Edit: Fix Tyres prices paid. R3200-R3500 instead of R2200-R2500, and R2200 instead of R1700
  7. I would say perhaps around the kyalami or woodmead area would perhaps be 1 good spot, your wife should be able to come on the N1 and then get off at Allandale and then either take the R101 and then past world of golf to get to the R55 or waterfall or Allandale itself to get to Kyalami, to get further down the R55 she will have to take New Road and perhaps park at the Crowthorne shopping centre (corner Arthur/R55) and meet you next to the road. Not too familiar with the JHB side of things, but I am guessing if she can get to the other side of Jan Smuts in Randburg she might be able to meet you there next to the road (not sure how to get there with the road closures though) - that is quite a long hill getting to Wits with the route flipped around, so somewhere along there might be good Edit: One thing to consider is the time it will take her to get from Randburg back to Midrand side if you look at the above 2 options, if there is heavy traffic she might not make it in time to meet you in Midrand, especially since she will have to go all the way around (through Randburg, N14, N1, etc)
  8. There is a substitution form which you can get from the race office - they e-mailed it to me, you need the following details of the rider you buying from: Name, Surname, Race Number, ID number I assume this is if it must be changed before number pick up. Maybe mail them and ask: 947ridejoburg@947.co.za Easiest is probably the process S&A pointed out, take your R200 with the above details of the old rider and go to number pickup at the dome and get the details changed.
  9. As far as I know the fitbit charge or versa does not have a built in GPS (only the ionic does), therefore it calculates distance on stride length or something similar, however your phone has a GPS, so when running with both the fitbit is paired with the phone and therefore uses the phone's GPS (connected GPS). I did a quick google search and it appears multiple people have issues with accuracy when running with their charge 2 on its own Check these 2 links - https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-2/Do-I-Need-to-Bring-My-Phone-With-Me-On-Runs/td-p/3171354 https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-2/How-do-I-use-GPS-on-my-Charge-2/td-p/2581845
  10. Unfortunately in this day and age it sometimes take a few tries to find the right mechanic or LBS to work on your bike (unless you do it yourself). I am not sure where you located, but by the sounds of your hint above, I would say you are in Centurion - if so, and you looking for a good mechanic go and see Robert Frost - you can google him or look for him on facebook. His business is called Robs bicycle service centre. He always gives honest feedback and does really good work. PM me if you want his details
  11. Thanks for the info, appreciate it just googled it and saw a video on how it works
  12. Excuse my ignorance but what is the topeak tool in die top row in the middle of the picture?
  13. It looks like a pizza cutter So I would guess it is some sort of cutting device...
  14. Apparently the Russians are flying out again tomorrow morning at 06:20, if you on facebook follow "Aviation Central", nice videos and some updates on airshows and the activity currently around the Russian crafts Edit: Spelling and updated time
  15. What did you use to measure the ride on Strava? A phone or was this the figures after you uploaded your ride from the edge 25 to Strava?
  16. Did your wife get selected for audit? If so did she receive confirmation that the documents were received? If she wasn't selected for audit, I would suggest you try the query status button on the efiling site. The SARS notifications is a bit of a mystery in general.
  17. Best price on one these please 180mm https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/shimano-xt-ice-tech-rt86-disc-rotors-6-bolt I can now get the xtr pads on special but need one 180mm rotor Thanks
  18. Few clubs around, have heard guys suggesting Velo (in Pretoria East) for Road Cycling - apparently well liked and have many groups. Closer to the Irene area, I know about Bicycle Company (both road and MTB) From an MTB only perspective, there is LCC (Lynnwood Centurion Cyclery), Trailwolf Cycles, and a few others, but like Robert said joining Pembi on FB will give you an idea about clubs in the area.
  19. Team number 126 Cyclopedia. Hoping for 15-16 hours, but with the cold I have had the last few weeks, anything under 18 will do
  20. Not trying to derail your thread, but any particular reason you sent it to Omnico for a service or was there something wrong with it? Guessing it is a FOX, therefore you can send it to Cogent Industries as well, based in Pretoria but you can ship it to Jacques as well, he is an authorized FOX service centre https://www.cogentindustries.co.za/
  21. SRAM Guide Brakes (no idea of year model, etc) https://www.onedayonly.co.za/rsc-mountain-biking-disc-brake-set-in-black.html https://www.onedayonly.co.za/guide-ultimate-disc-brake-set.html
  22. Same trend as everyone else, really bad month - picked up 2.5kg's. Mostly due to bad food choices, doesn't help that I have been out of the country and eating hotel food or take-aways, except for 7 days over Easter where I ate like I haven't seen SA food for a year but all my choices. Unfortunately I also last cycled on the 30th of March. Hopefully I can get back into gear in May, that is at least the plan and after watching that obese autopsy video Vetseun shared I have some additional motivation.
  23. Thank you, I haven't read up on it - is there a time limit to achieving the everest elevation or can you keep going until you achieve it (or fall over from exhaustion)?
