  1. Did you still do the D2D as well? I was out with a few mates doing a training ride in the cradle yesterday. We went the oposite direction of the D2D race and saw all the bunches coming past. Also saw a lot of guys repairing punctures. I must say the conditions were a lot better yesterday than what it was on Saturday in Benoni.... sho!
  2. Yeah then i definitely saw you... i was the struggling oke with the Blue Label kit on . You guys came past me a few km's before the end and i just didn't have the legs to join in with the group.
  3. I see the starting time for Thursday this week is 16:15... keen to go

    D2D

We were simply out training in the cradle and riding the opposite direction of you guys in the D2D race. I saw a lot of guys repairing punctures?? Was it that bad throughout the whole race?
  5. It was without a doubt the worst windy conditions i've ever experienced (maybe i'm not too experienced then :-)) Boy was it a cold and windy start, with my fingers going numb from the cold and even gearing became a challenge. The winning time for AL was just over 3hours... mine was 3:23 as the wind took it's toll on me unfortunately... Like you guys said... the pancakes from the church tannies was an absolute blessing after the race.

Entry done yesterday... I think right in the middle of all the masses trying to do the same Also tried about 5 times to pay, and eventually succeeded at about 3pm (from 1pm). Got double billed and submitted my enquery to the organisers this morning. They apparently will handle all the double billed queries as from today. Good thing is that my entry is booked and secure
  7. Yip, i'm also a virgin Race for Victory rider this year. I've heard horror stories about SBR so i'm kinda glad it doesn't go through there anymore. Looking forward to this event!!
  8. It seems as if tomorrow is going to be a hard working ride in the Benoni August winds, and it seems that the Dome2Dome riders won't have any better luck on Sunday either... Scotty Are you offering or just saying about those pancakes and boeries???
  9. And those open plot and farm areas outside Benoni is OPEN... the slightest breeze of wind there and it feels as if you have glue on your tyres. The wind always feels as if it's coming right from the front, doesn't matter how many turns you take on the road. Let's hope it's all good tomorrow
  10. Just went to collect my number at CL Fourways... and I was thinking that the weather man must have made a mistake when they predicted a high of 11deg for Saturday... It's such a warm day outside today...
  11. I was waiting for you to say the "outside" of your knee, as that is where i had an issue which was ITBFS. On the inside of the knee, i'm not to sure. Hopefully somebody else has the know how on that issue and position of pain. Ice is always a good thing and assist in getting rid of inflimation. You pretty much follow the RICE advice... Rest - Ice - Compression - Elevation
  12. Who's riding in which group? Got an sms yesterday.. i'm AL by the seems of things
  13. Bob and weave, bob and weave
  14. I seem to operate alright with a meal every hour. One meals = 1 gel for example
  15. Guys... and girls... I'm overwelmed with all your response messages and "likes" to my posts about my dad. Thank you for your support and care to the situation. It's amazing to realise that many other people are going through a similar turmoil, have already had someone dear to them taken away or purely offer support in such tough times. Here is the photo that i spoke about. This will be printed on the back of my cycling kit that i'm currently making. Thanks again to all
  16. I'm having special kit made for that day with a photo of my dad standing with his bike. It will only be worn that one day... washed and framed
  17. My dad was a cyclist his whole life and him and i would have raced the 94.7 together this year. He sadly passed away last year Nov. So i'll be riding the race in honour of him
  18. My first 94.7... gonna be an awesome... and a very sad day all at once
  19. I also entered and keeping an eye on the weather updates. It seems that besides the wind we will have to deal with, we are gonna freeze our royal neh-neh's off. Temperature prediction (ok granted it's early days) min -1 and max 11... eish
  20. Of course... makes sense I'd rather have a look at the times for next week then. Although i love motorsport and would enjoy a free show, i would like to get a full afternoon of cycling before it turns dark
  21. i had a look on the website and times for today and for the rest of the week only start at 17:15? Why not around 16:30 ish as before?
  22. Pitty i'm only seeing your post now (as it is Tuesday already) I'm still pretty keen to go, pretty much any day of the week
  23. Yip... also nr 1 milestone for me this year!!

Sho you lucky okes... i'm counting the days for the flood gates to open on the website
  25. I must agree with some of the statements above... those speed humps were a real pain in the butt, and i saw water bottles flying after each bump. Luckily my cages held onto my bottles and i was good with the fluids till the end. It was quite a chilly start to the morning but warmed up quite nicely soon after the start of the race. I managed 6th in the B group with an average speed of 38.34 with only 2sec's splitting me with the winner. Well done to the man in the ASG kit who won our race!
