I'm sorry to see that the bike marshal did in fact cause an accident amongst the cyclists. Dazshell Do you perhaps have some info/description on that motorbike or the rider? Gerald as mentioned in my OP is looking into this situation and am trying to identify who this guy was. I unfortunately couldn't provide much detail on the bike or the rider & passanger barring a few descriptions. Gerald asked for any information that might help to identify this guy. A word of appreciation and big thumbs up to the Amashova Organisers!! After the Amashova (which I enjoyed thoroughly being my first one) I sent the organisers (Annie) and email thanking them for an event well planned and executed. Part of this email, I thought it good to bring 2 issues to their attention that we experienced on the route about some marshalling inconsistencies and a marshal motorbike that was coming straight towards us close to Durban in our racing line. Immediately Annie acted upon the mail and even went the distance of getting the Chief Commissaire to contact me and getting us talking about the marshalling issue. Julian and I spoke and managed to resolve the entire issue. Gerald is now also looking into the motorbike incident as that could have turned out quite disastrous... luckily without and issues (or what i know of). The fact that the organisers started communicating with me directly after my email to them and resolving all these aspects shows that they really take this event and the safety of the cyclists to heart. Thank you once again to the Amashova Organisers. You guys show that true personal touch!!

I race with exactly the same tyres... Vredestein Fortezza Tricomp. They are great tyres and with no mesh, it saves on a bit of weight as well. I used to have Schwalbe's on my bike, but it was one puncture after the other... just got gatvol

I received a phone call this morning to say that my re-seed application was successful after I had sent them all my previous results and racing group.

I'm probably going to treat myself to some SBR hills either on Saturday or Sunday morning

It was an amazing race, besides a few marshalling inconsitencies and a marshal motorbike coming straight towards us in our racing line on the highway It was still an amazing race and a fantastic route. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and will definitely support this race again.

That 4.5hours of rain is a bit worrying...

What's the bet?

I was looking so forward to this race... but wet weather and wind is not my friend. I believe there are some serious down hills on this route as well... downhill and wet weather... now there is a lekka recipe for big DWANG!

We'll also be leaving on Friday... I will most probably make a swing past registration on Saturday. Who's all in the VA group?

Do lots and lots of core training... this will improve your general posture and you'll start sitting much better on the bike with a more natural centre point of gravity.

I went to SBR for the first time on Sunday.... I heard about all the people chatting about the hills and how tuff it is etc... experiencing it for myself, wow... They are tuff!! Especially the one at about the 35-40km mark... Shoowwweeee Amazing day out with the sun beating down... i now look like a turtle without a shell, but what an amazing experience cycling through the reserve. And of course i set a good example by following ALL the road markings and didn't go down one ways or anything. SBR will definitely see me again... soon

Hey Zatek, I would have been more than willing to offer to help you out, however i think my car might be a bit crowded with spectators (family) driving with. To be more specific, we're in Seadoone/Warner Beach area which is right where you will be, so it would not have been an issue at all. PM me your number anyway, and we can maybe make a plan

Luckily my farther in law lives in Toti... so we going a few days before and leaving a few days after the race. Nice little get away

I completely agree... the route is nice and challenging but would need the additional marchalling. The bike guys did an amazing job in our group, and keeping peace between cyclists and cars. The CBD was mahem though, with the amount of traffic... and people not knowing where to go. The last few km's was extremely challenging with the wind... Yoh!! Full road closure.... Where? for the last 500m and that was it... I saw a lot of video cameras take footage and such and CSA also mentioned that it will be aired on TV. Anybody knows when this will be?

Go to Kyalami race track in the afternoons... R20 gets you on the track... no car traffic with just over 4km per lap... Do 5 laps to get to your 20km and i can promise you that it will be a leeeeekkkkaaaaa training afternoon.... Kyalami is not flat

I'm pretty sure that there will be more Lic entries... Have you seen the prize money values?? They pulled out all the stops for the Elite prize monies. R40 000 for the winner and so on until 10th place or so
