  1. Check the downtube if it's rifled. If rifled it's SLX tubing and possibly a Superissimo otherwise it may be a Super (SL tubing).
  2. Just add a dummy rear cable fastened to a fixed point on the frame and tension it at the rear derailleur clamp to get the gear you want it in. Then fine tune with the derailleur cable adjuster.
  3. Normally a great time of the year to ride there if you can make it before the first big winter rains. Night is obviously a lot colder but the days are crisp and clear.
  4. If it was steel it wouldn't be a problem, you could cold set it but aluminum doesn't quite work the same way. You can try cold set it and it may work without breaking but it'll always have a weak point at that bend point and will more than likely crack there in the future.
  5. Thanks for the feedback Darren, you more than most will have a better insight into exactly what's happening on the ground πŸ‘ I don't mind courses being technical and challenging riders but they also need to somehow be safe. Falling into a drop-off rock garden wearing lycra and the lightest helmet and shoes etc. is just a recipe for disaster, especially after all the effort, time & money that goes into simply pitching up to race at this level. The fact that more riders don't get hurt is just a testimony to how well their skills have improved over the years. Yeah sure, bikes and suspension have improved a huge amount as well but an unskilled rider will still bin it on a good bike. The same thing is happening in Hard Enduro with motorcycling. Rides being sent up or along near vertical cliff faces all in the name of RedBull extreme is just insanity. Or maybe I'm just getting bloody old and should take up tiddly winks 😩
  6. I called it some time ago, it was just a matter of time before the technical nature of the XCO courses started claiming some big scalps with injuries. If it carries on like this then the guys will just stop trying to do it all as it's too risky for their road commitments.
  7. After this performance we should be asking the BIG question... When are we going to see Dan at the Lifetime GP Series with Matt?
  8. After racing the 180 last year and nearly dying, I'm just blown away with how you managed to keep that pace so strong for 360km's. It's one thing to ride these distances with mates but it's an entirely different beast to race it against the clock and strong opposition. That's seriously next level fitness & strength, well done on an incredible ride, huge respect πŸ€™
  9. Only advice I can give from last years experience is be very well placed when you turn left onto the gravel after the first 5km's of downhill tar because all hell breaks loose after that πŸ˜…
  10. Sadly it appears as if the pickings are now slim past Khayamnandi so they're moving over to the R44 🀬
  11. There was another attempted mugging in Stellenbosch yesterday, this time on the R44 near the flats. 3 riders were confronted by 6 youngster armed with knifes. The woman in the group, riding 2nd wheel got knocked off her bike and they tried stealing the bike but she was still clipped in. Fortunately a MOP stopped his car to assist and they ran off empty handed. Happened around 12pm. So now both roads out of Stellenbosch towards the North are risky 😩
  12. Any further news as to whether this guy was located and arrested?
  13. I hear you, it took a month for my eyes to stop shaking in my head #Ilovefrontsuspension
  14. Those roads dry quickly πŸ‘
  15. Say what? 2nd in DdV, 4th in Flanders and 2nd in DBP... You don't end up on podiums in the Classics if you're not in great form, he was just lacking that final sharpness to stand on the top step πŸ‘
  16. Sorry Guido, did it via the app on my phone but the one is SOUKE Men's breathable Quick-Dry Suspender Cycling Shorts - R282 and the other is Spring and Summer Cycling Bib Shorts with Embossed Branding (Donen) - R321. The Donen ones have quite a thin shamois and a thin lycra and straps but they fit well. For that price they are well worth it, even if they only last me a season πŸ‘
  17. All have higher aspirations. Tadej raced the Classic so needs some time off and focus on peaking again for tdf, Jonas is still in a build phase and vdP doesn't want/need to race Giro πŸ˜‰ All guestimates of course but makes sense in my head.
  18. I bought R760 worth of goodies recently including 2 x Bibs and a Colnago hoodie plus a few freebies and paid around R350 duties πŸ‘ I'm rather impressed with the Bibs, way better than the 1st set I bought 2 years ago. I'd actually even wear these outdoors 😊
  19. Hey Chris, your rims appear to be the newer rounder profile so I'm hoping you have better luck than I did πŸ‘ My frame is carbon and it came with the under mounted water bottle bosses. You need to look for them very carefully though because there's a plastic frame protector on the underside of the downtube and the holes are hidden in that plastic mount. RASA... maybe with you rather than against you, that would be a proper adventure πŸ˜‰πŸ‘
  20. πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ I'm only laughing so much because I can totally identify with your reaction πŸ˜‚ I need to put my remote in a silicon case as well, or have a 3D mount printed for it on the handlebar because it's very slick and streamlined and I totally see it slipping out of a sweaty hand πŸ€™
  21. Just a BIG thanks to all those that gave advice here. I pulled the trigger on an Apple TV 3 gen on Sat afternoon and by Sat evening I was up and riding on Zwift again. Really easy to setup and link to my trainer and HR monitor and playing it through a 32inch TV is just so much better than even a laptop, never mind a phone. All I need to figure out now is how to use the remote effectively for bonus boosts etc. and tidy up the cables πŸ€™ Ignore the wine, I use it as reward motivation πŸ˜‰
  22. Congrats on the new bike Chris, I certainly hope it gives you as much enjoyment as my Revolt has given me over the past 4 years. I compare the Revolt to a Hilux, not really the best at anything but does everything really well πŸ€™ I bought a really affordable Rockbros frame bag 2 or 3 years ago and it has served me well on my tours. I do however realize that you have great contacts for custom bags and that's always the best route when possible πŸ‘ The only thing that has disappointed me with my Revolt was the standard rims that came on the bike. After my Cape Cross tour, the rear rim had cracked around all the nipples. The spokes fortunately never pulled out of the rim but the cracks were visible. I then bought another secondhand set in very good condition here on BH and the same thing happened to the rear rim on that set. I then bought a 3rd set here on BH but of the more modern Revolt rims which are slightly wider and more curved than the earlier editions. So far they have held up so I'm hoping your new model has the new & improved rims as well πŸ‘ I should add that the combined weight of myself and my setup is around 100kgs so those rims should have held up. Here's my touring setup on my Revolt.
  23. Thanks all, appreciate the feedback, it's certainly helped me make up my mind as I have an old 32 inch TV to use as the monitor πŸ™πŸ‘ I also only need to pair my Elite Suito trainer and HR monitor for now so extra BT connectivity is not needed just yet. I'll continue using my phone for the Companion app πŸ‘
  24. I see Miguel Angel Lopez has officially been banned until 24/7/2027 for Menotropin. Astana at it again. Such a pity, I enjoyed watching him race.
