  1. that would be sad. I dont anything but from strava I can see the last time folks rode up there was mid October.
  2. So many Italian Riders on the team plus the Nibali connection I would hope at the very least they get into the Giro?
  3. I hope you paid for the coffee at the very least 🤪
  4. In case nobody picked it up, message Murray, their Hermanus crew usually ride those routes.
  5. Yeah that is why I originally said use the road when it’s peak traffic and vehicles are moving much slower. That use to be my regular route from work in Kenilworth to Killarney back in the day. agree lots of patience when using the side walk, a light and bell will go along way. I’ve seen a “traffic marshal” stationed there before I guess that is just for before and after school to get the kids across the road.
  6. here is option 1 folks. You can either take it down Voortrekker road as suggested or like I did tonight to Berkeley Road past Amazons new offices and carry on to the Salt River circle. Tonight I rode the sidewalk across the Interchange sharing it with pedestrians. https://strava.app.link/U9Cijtws5Ob
  7. Can I suggest two route options once you come off the bike path to get into town. 1. Through Paarden Eiland and cross the m5 interchange using the pedestrian sidewalk if you are not comfortable riding in the road that will take you to Voortrekker road which you can then use to get into town. I feel safe because it’s always bumper to bumper traffic there so vehicles are traveling much slower. 2. The other option is from Lagoon beach turnoff go up to Koeberg road and through the residential area behind Ysterplaat Airforce Base, you will come out on Sable Road proceed towards the N1 where you can take the Century City train station ramp through the residential area of Kensington & Maitland and again you will arrive at Voortrekker into Town. Will try ride it or map a route for you and post it here sometime.
  8. Congrats on the win
  9. Last year I had Ironman And DC Fitness still when I took on this event in a fatigued state. This year I’m again in the fatigue boat but with zero riding fitness. Chances of me rocking up are slim.

It’s a bit the same like triathlons where you need to serve the penalty out at the next “penalty tent” along the route. We don’t know how long DC would’ve stopped at RV5. It would’ve been vital if someone could’ve gotten the word to MM at the same time as DC got it and that would’ve most likely have changed the outcome or at the very least make the chase more interesting.
  11. Poles are a real game changer. I started trail running without them but the advice was to get them for Ultras. I guess you can do without them if you have solid quads and knees. For me it just made sense start using them as early as possible and you will still have legs deep into the 100miler and with this route we were still climbing right up until 3kms to go. So extra kudos to you for doing it without poles.
  12. Thank You, taking 2 weeks break might be more, will see how it goes. It is indeed special and having my wife at the finish line after she was seconding me all weekend was very emotional. also thanks to @Jewbacca who shared some good tips with this novice. Was also going to be my pacer but had to withdraw. Thanks Champ.
  13. Thanks and well done to you too. I must say I wasted too much time at the aid stations and probably should’ve taken one or two 15min power naps throughout instead of the 2:30 hours I took at Alphen. Also train with the full load you would race with as that literally killed my knees, feet & back.
  14. Anyone else here also do the UTCT events this past weekend? I managed to complete my longest run ever I.e. 100 Miler. Super chuffed with a time of 39 hours.
  15. Tackled 3 Peaks this past weekend, what a brutal route. We can just be thankful it was not a summer scorcher.
  16. Well my focus has mainly been trail orientated since taking a 2 week break after Comrades in June. I knew I couldnt repeat last years performance but nothing was going to stop me from trying. I like the go till you blow approach, well guess what it doesn't always pay off. In hindsight I should've started more conservatively and not get sucked into the pace the A batch guys start off with. After 10kms I had 39mins on my watch and I already knew I was in big trouble. PR's right up until the half marathon mark. Struggled with a stitch and often had to tap off the pace to recover, I was so smashed that when the Sub 3 bus caught me in Salt River, I could only hang on until The Company Gardens and had to let them go. Still thought I could sneak in under 3 hours but that headwind in the last kilometer was the final nail in the coffin. 3:01:43 eventually. P.S. Did anyone else notice the concrete bit pass the Sea Point Pool is actually uphill.
  17. Yeah Unfortunately me 🤦‍♂️
  18. just my bit of experience of plantar fasciitis which may or may not be the same for you, but for me it started when I did a trail run race in shoes too small for me. I've since gone one size up in all my running shoes.
  19. Also got no email yet but if you log into your profile you'll see the status of your entry.
  20. Track is a good foundation for Road Cycling. BMX too and it will compliment Mountain Biking a lot as well.
  21. As the title says... actually it has been alive for a couple of years now, thanks to the wonderful work of a few dedicated Parents of riders or Adult riders themselves. Western Cape Hosted the National Championships this past weekend at Zone7 MX Venue, here are just a few photos from all the weekends action. The season is actually coming to an end but there are still 3 races left on the calendar during the month of October so pull in at one of these venues if you are keen to give it a try especially if you use to race in the 80's and 90's or 00's there is a category for every age. Kraaifontein BMX CLUB - 6th October. Zone 7 BMX CLUB - 20th October. Overberg BMX CLUB, Hermanus - 27th October. Other bmx clubs in the Western Cape that have tracks to ride and practice on but do not host races yet as it doesnt meet certain criteria are Songo in Khayamandi, Velokhaya in Khayalitsha, Princess Vlei in Elfindale. 22. You need to up the ante. Cash offer and a replacement bike, he has to bite then?
  23. Member 4107 joined 16 years ago, Milky is my real life nickname since childhood days. My work colleague Pieter Blaauw aka PhatCyclist / FatCyclist introduced me to this platform and what jol it has been. Well Done Matt & Nick and Team.
  24. I couldnt get an entry in time, all the best I'll be marshalling for you on Kloof Nek Road crossing.
  25. I’ve done both, Swartberg 100 ends off with the Pass and PA starts off with the Pass. Different sides and different dynamics, different race. Glad I was there for the inaugural in 2016 then again back for 2018. 2017 was a wash out. Thanks Big John and Team it was a privilege to ride your event. All the best with the future endeavors.
