  1. Happy to report for the benefit of others considering using our beloved Post Office. My package arrived today. The labels read "Large Letter" & "Printed Matter", only 2 months after it was Posted in the UK surely a record 🤪. All I had to pay was R36 at the post office counter.
  2. Why not fly to Cape Town instead, you may have more takers. If non rent a vehicle then use the transfer service from Start to End. Leave rental at George airport if that is an option or drive back to Cape Town.
  3. My initial reaction was that can’t be true, nobody in their right mind sticks a knee out to deliberately hit someone and his explanation was my thinking of what happened, it looks bad on video but come on anyone that has had to balance on their bike would throw a knee out like that it’s just unfortunate the kid got hit in the process.
  4. When I checked weather earlier in the week there was rain shown for Thursday into Friday nothing Saturday and then again on Sunday. The event is a 2 day gravel event where you can opt to only do the one day or both & they were also expecting the families to camp from Friday night through to Sunday, so with that in mind they cancelled but I think it could just be the poor numbers that pre-entered that was the deciding factor.
  5. I will eventually but I need something to go there with, that something I'll get from the Joburg people as that is the first port of call. It was posted via post office to post office basically and not couriered.
  6. Reviving an old thread instead of starting a new one. I remember years back there was a thread but my search has failed me now. What is EMS called again and does anyone have an contact I can call or email there, that you have used before. I'm trying to expedite my parcel for delivery, this has worked for me in the past years ago but lost all those contacts with my previous laptop, hence I'm trying to go this route again else they will just get to it when they get to it.
  7. that descent is quite knarly even on a mtb, on the gravel bike you just need to grab the brakes and take it slow & steady down there.
  8. Dave will the old Yellow Cycleops Computer not work as well?
  9. thanks for this, turns out the powertap didnt think I needed a firmware update but the SRAM AXS app did.
  10. Your own 2 day mtb/gravel stage race, sounds like a winner.
  11. As a comparison, Boland Gravel Monster is 150km's vs Attakwas 120km's for R1750. The one is on our doorstep the other a 4-5 hour drive with plenty of logistics to budget for on both sides as it is a point to point race.
  12. I doubt it is firmware related though, on a new'ish hub like yours as the firmware has not been updated in yonks. The light should only flash green when inserting a new battery. I literally just did this yesterday, old battery was flashing red & green, after inserting the new battery just green light.
  13. yeah but how much better did that garage pies taste afterwards, I guess anything will go down a treat after a proper bonk
  14. Wattbike are Shimano & Look Road cleats compatible.
  15. Good news, so they just made off with your gps unit then?
  16. 2?! 😱 does it count if you actually modeling gorgeous 🥰
  17. Rookie numbers, check this study conducted in Sweden. https://cykelframjandet.se/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/2-bicycle-accidents-an-analysis-of-the-causes-of-single-bicycle-accidents-in-stockholm-2.pdf
  18. You know this is not too far away from Trans Baviaans just an extra 1:40 from Willowmore to Graaf Reinet. Both events should be 3 days max.
  19. That's what I was thinking as well. But I see he is moaner so I'm not surprised. Yes 2 Climbs are tar which is already brutal in Road Races, do it on a Gravel Bike then it becomes a Monster route. Then there are the gravel sectors 1 big climb that I can remember with a fast descent, the others are rolling hills, last year the gravel roads was rutted like MF'er then there is also one long drag of a climb I reckon between 3-5%, Garmin Pro Climber classifies it as Climb but you wont know its a climb until you get dropped. So I dont really have a problem with this race having Monster in its name if that is what the Op was getting at. You'll definitely not make it on a Road Bike that's for sure.
  20. Bainskloof was open to the public, where we popped out from the farm onto the pass there was a marshal & I now can't recall if there was a traffic cop stationed there as well almost think there was and also where we swung off the pass as well.
