  1. I agree BIG BOY, just peddle faasta
  2. 2013 event map and elevation below I travelled up from cape Town for this race last year. Stayed in some dodgy hotel on the strip., but loved the event. Fully recommend it. Totally agree with you re distance covered, I had just over 100km, so the speeds reflected on racetec are unrealistic. Not sure how the organisers managed to lose 5km, very bizarre You should be in surgery, or rehab, or somewhere sterile and very far away from anything resembling a cycle event Some say 900, others 643, mine comprises at 770.
  3. Did this last year, really enjoyed it. Attached is a copy of the route map and profile, my Garmin recorded an elevation gain of just over 700m. The drop down Hekpoort is quite hectic, especially for the earlier starters as they decend into the mist. Practice your bunny hops lads, the rumble strips at the bottom of Hekpoort will remove your fillings!
  4. Ingenious, but rather extreme, way of getting a new bike. The principle of indemnity replies, your insurer has a duty to place you in the same position you were before you bought property on Chappies. If they can't satisfactorily address your very reasonable latent damage concerns, considering the circumstances and speed you went down, they must replace it (if your sum insured is adequate) or just pay you the amount equivalent to what they would be able to source a new frame for.
  5. Silverback, imho, irrespective of your budget, represents the best value for money new off the LBS floor. Good pricing, great styling and impeccable after sales service with local warranty servicing. No mess, no fuss. Can't go wrong with Silverback.
  6. Wes is paying it forward, hubber style . Evidence indeed that not all cyclists use their wheels to assault stationary motorists.
  7. No ways... what are the chances that the Chuckster AND a lefty-loving Sherlock homes are both hubbers??? It's a craaaaazy wonderful world we live in If I was your mate though, I wouldn't admit to owning that bike
  8. Chuck Norris can return a stolen bike, before it's even been stolen!

No, there was some controversy in the ladies sprint last year though when she placed second. Some felt the winner should have gracefully "allowed" Cherise to win, considering Burry's passing a few month's earlier.

We didn't have rolling blackouts that inconvenienced us last year

You did good, considering the conditions.... provisional results may be up tomorrow, but they'll change over the next week or so.

Parking underground at the stadium is sooo yesterday. Paid 50bucks for P3 parking, right opposite MacDonald's. What a pleasure. After being mauled by the rabid Cape Doctor, and collecting my precious free Coke, I rolled straight to the car along a beautifully bricked pathway within a minute No mess, no fuss. Don't tell anyone, it's our secret

There is no argument, and shouldn't have been on the 94.7 thread last year. The gun starts each group, it's uniform, one start for everbody. Race distance is measured from where the wheels of the front riders start turning. You'll see the upper alphabet groups race instantly after it goes off. Mat to mat racing is illegal.

You're spot on, crossing the mat merely registers your transponder.

I ain't very far up the alphabet soup food chain. A couple of young Nedbank whippersnapper development riders passed me in Muizenberg, shouting "hold your line" (which I always do), and then proceeded to pass me on the left. Truly clueless.

Don't sweat the small stuff mate, there's always a next time.

  23. I run that road regularly, my closest shaves to date are with.... wait for it.... cyclists! Install a rear view mirror and hug the hard shoulder very closely boys, make it your second wife!
  24. Geneva Drive and Houghton road. Camps bay main Rd is flat, and it was crowded more than usual due to a walking event on the same day. These windgat riders should learn to climb!
  25. Stooopid is what stooopid does, and that stretch of road was filled to even greater capacity with Sunshine D event walkers. We, the Argus cyclists of this world, would be greatly (and rightly) peeved if hundreds of walkers and runners infested our route on Sunday, yet we believe common courtesy is others to give and ours to take (but not vice-versa). I would have loved to see a video of the lead rider moering into the back of the parked van ahead.
