  1. Yeah, the exchange rate buggers us big time. I remember that the Gravity Dropper Descender was available at CRC for R 1600.00 not too long ago.
  2. Cool, looks like a Gravity Dropper Descender is what you require, but it is outside your stated budget though: http://gravitydroppe...descender-post/
  3. The gravity dropper can be actuated from the remote handlebar lever, and some of their models have multi position drop. I think the OP meant mechanical as opposed to hydraulic. The gravity dropper works with 2 springs and a pin, where other droppers work with a hydraulic system. I don't think the OP meant mechanical as a non-remote dropper. Edit: But I do agree that a non remote dropper is not as nice as a dropper with remote actuation, especially when you ride 1x10/11 and the remote is mounted where the FD shifter used to be.
  4. Gravity dropper is very nice, and they sell just about every little part of the post as spare parts. CRC used to stock all their models and spare parts. Not sure if it is still the case.
  5. Not a fan of the big S (I am an Intense & Morewood man), but this looks cool. Specialized Enduro Troy Lee Designs edition:
  6. Race poster added to first post. I am aiming to get videos up for each stage during the course of next week.
  7. 1 1/8" at the moment. I am going to get me a set of 24 x 1.8" with knobblies, so I can ride a wider variety of terrain. It gets a bit randy on loose gravel with those skinny tyres, guess it is how cyclocross feels all the time!!
  8. Yes it is a 24" cruiser bmx. I use it mainly for pump track riding. The real BMX racers ride 20".
  9. My other Intense:
  10. Have you tried to give him a Drontal? Fleas carry worm eggs this time of the year, so deworming once a month or so is not a bad idea.
  11. This looks great. See you guys on Saturday at Woodridge.
  12. For cycling specific tools I use park tool. I am not a fan of tool kits, rather buy specific tools as you start to need them. A good start in bike maintenance is chain, cassette and shifter cable removal and installation. For this you will need hex keys, cable cutter, crimping tool, cassette lockring tool and a chain whip. Once you have mastered these, you can start getting specific tools for your hubs and BB and expand your work to those parts. Before you know it, you will be able to build up an entire bike in an hour or two. For normal tools used in bicycle maintenance there are many other value for money non-cycling-brands out there which are far better priced. I use: VERA screw drivers AMF hex keys AMF torx keys TA wire rope cutter (R95 from Toolquip & Allied - looks exactly like Pedros cable cutter, and works great) Stainless steel imperial and metric ruler Mitutoyo metric vernier A few pin punches - for removal of suspension pivot bearings Motorcycle tyre lever - for removal of fork seals Strap wrench - for removal of shock air can And remember tools are useless if you do not apply the correct lubricant or anti-seize compound before fitting the parts. Lubricants I use: Spanjaard rubber grease (for suspension) Spanjaard 2X grease (bearings) Spanjaard copper compound ( copper slip - for creaky interfaces and threads)
  13. Here is a better route profile: Stage 1 Distance: 1.9km Descent: 235m Stage 2 Distance: 4.3km Descent: 167m Stage 3 Distance: 3.05km Descent: 210m Stage 4 Distance: 1.34km Descent: 55m
  14. I rode the route yesterday, and it is going to be awesome!!! Stage 1 is going to be super fast, while stage 2 and 3 will be very nice and flowing. Stage 4 is very flat and short but on amazing singletrack, which flows very nicely.
  15. If I take my Intense as an example (parts only): Suspension bearings(Enduro): R750 Mounting Hardware (Fox): R350 Fork service: R400 (wiper and oil seals only) Shock service: R300 (Air can service kit only) Cables F&R : R250 BB: R350 This brings you to R2400. Add a full service of R700, and you end up with R3100 in parts and service only. Now you still need to add the labour of fitting the above mentioned parts. Let's say 2 hours minimum at R400 per hour, and you end up with a total of R3900. So for the work done the price seems very reasonable. However your lbs really need to check bikes and take them for a spin around the block before the customer collects. They also need to fix all the issues you have experienced after the service.
  16. I have a Fox striker, and I really like it, and it has been going strong for 2 years now. The fit is great for me personally.

  18. Not a roadie anymore, but I have done this one in 2007 and 2008. It is an absolutely awesome ride, great memories.
  19. The 2012 manual says 5-8ml
  20. Brodie (3 & 1/2 month old JR) and Sampie (8 month old staffie) are having a great time on the farm this weekend:
  21. Lakata would definitely be one if the favourites, he had a strong season last year with 2nd at XCM worlds and beating Sauser at Leadville 100. Pity about his injury.
  22. Lakata is out. He ruptured his achilles tendon in a ski accident in December.
  23. I don't think Marco Fontana will be riding this year. From what I understand, he blames the epic for the "average" XCO season (still very good) he had last year. I think Kevin might ride with Neil Mcdonald. I don't think Kevin's focus is the epic, I think his entire season is focussed towards marathon world champs.
