  1. There is a big difference between RB Rampage and normal DH riding. At rampage there are sections where a minor F-up will send you free-falling for 20m plus. A tuck and roll will not be sufficient in such a situation. So it is vastly different from a normal DH track. Most of the DH pro's I have seen fall, weren't on a "big air" obstacles but more in fast and loose corners. You seem to think that a neck brace is just as important as a helmet, why is it not a UCI rule then?
  2. Cool. Just gooi the link here if you do. Thanks.
  3. Special Stages 2 and 4 will remain a surprise. They are easier than 1 and 3, and they flow nicely, so there will not be any nasty surprises. See you guys there. Entries are rolling in nicely: http://www.endurope.evnt.co.za/entries-received/
  4. Special Stage 3 - Zorr's Roller Coaster This video was done by Mountain Events. It will give you a nice idea of how the trail flows. It is a lot faster when you are on the trial than what it looks like on the video. There are a few very short uphills on this stage, but they can all be powered through if you carry your momentum nicely. It ends with some very steep jeep track where you can really let it fly.
  5. Yip and when we were there on Saturday, the trails were nice and dry. The weather forecast for the weekend looks good though.
  6. Special Stage 1 - Holgat This video was done by Mountain Events. On the video it does not look that fast, but I can assure you that this stage is veeerrrryyyy fast. It has one climb of about 50m in the middle, and after that it gets fast again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMP219UUW4A
  7. I will put a few Youtube links up. Just need to search for them.
  8. Nice, what One Insustries product is lying on the shirt?
  9. I have done about 6000km on a set last year without any issues or maintenance. I am on my Saint flats now. My 530's are serviced and ready to go again. For the price you cannot beat these pedals.
  10. Perhaps you are already doing it, but I have found that dipping my heels and keeping my knees slightly bent on long descents, removes a lot of tension from my legs and feet. Tension in your foot muscles might be the cause of the cramps.
  11. My wife is 155cm and her size Small Morewood Zula fits her perfectly with an inline seatpost, 70mm stem and 685mm riser bar. The only women's bikes she'll ride are from the Santa Cruz Juliana range, built up with nice components.
  12. Don't worry, if all goes well, there will definitely be another one this year. Hayterdale trails have such nice downhill sections that I can easily add another 1.8km stage with about 240m descent. But the aim of this event is to give local riders a nice introduction to Enduro. After this event we'll look at making the special stages a bit faster and tougher, real Enduro style.
  13. Online entries are open!! www.endurope.evnt.co.za Please enter online, it makes things easier for us organisers.
  14. Although apps like strava and endomondo can do most of the stuff a dedicated GPS can do, I have found that with iOS 7 I cannot track rides longer than 4 hours because my phone battery runs out. Turning off cellular data helps, but no a lot. I really don't want to be stuck in an emergency situation with less than 10% battery on my phone. So I am actually considering getting a dedicated gps. I am looking at the Garmin etrex 20 or 30. Nice features, low weight and great battery lofe.
  15. One of the brands with local backup is Supernova: http://www.lynskey-sa.co.za/accessories.php
  16. Hayterdale ride tomorrow at 08:00 AM. We are going to be out there riding the route for the Scott Ayton Enduro, and after the ride we are going to do some of the course marking, in order to reduce the marking work next weekend. Please let me know if you are keen to join. Riders who help with route marking will receive a free entry into the race. Please send an email to stephan@fattracks.co.za if you are keen to join.
  17. Yes, we have posted an update on our Facebook page this morning, indicating why the race is called Scott Ayton. Tragic, but at this race, 20 years after the tragedy we'll do our utmost to honour his memory. http://152.111.1.87/argief/berigte/dieburger/1994/05/24/1/15.html

  19. Hans has probably ridden more GT's than anyone else on the planet. He can ride any GT he wants: http://hansrey.com/hans-bikes/
  20. The Zee RD really is the best for a 1x10 with 11-36 at the back, but apparently a few guys are struggling with the Zee RD after they fitted One-Up or Wolftooth 42T cassette adapters. According to the Shimano website the Zee has a maximum capacity of 36T. The Zee apparently struggles with the 42T sprocket. However I have seen a review of the One-Up 42T and the bike had a Zee RD, and the reviewer had no problems. Perhaps a medium cage SLX Shadow + is a more versatile option?
  21. If I ever go hardtail again, this will be it, single speed of course: http://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/Bikes,3/Niner/ROS-9-with-XO1,12696#product-reviews/1649
  22. Dakine is much nicer anyway: http://www.swindle.co.za
  23. An epic thread from a few years ago, was the " Does the hub hang from the top spokes, or stand on the bottom spokes" . Bliksem, it did not matter how fast I tried to read, I remained 3 pages from the last page, and gave up. Another epic thread was the Epic thread where the discussion was your bond vs the Epic. That was a cat fight of note.
  24. Seriously Hairy, you need to shape up. A MTB bro shall always manual on a downward sloped wooden surface. That opportunity is lost forever you know...
