  1. Giving good service, and motivating staff to do so is incredibly easy to do and requires one or two skilled people to manage it. Not very difficult.. if a store continues to give bad service, namely certain reps in the store it is the fault of management. Many south africans are bone lazy and couldnt give a stuff about service...
  2. My bro-inlaw came first on a tandem with the first female to cross the line.. sounded like a good event all in all...
  3. should have got a dualie 29r best thing ive ever done...
  4. Sales reps have to almost balance their customer interactions quite carefully on busy days. One issue is that if a person is fairly interesting in cycling but hasnt done the ground work before looking to buy, they can take up a serious amount of time questioning absolutely everything and then still may not walk out with a bike. I think its fair if you get helped, ask a few questions, left with a decision to make, then the sales rep can move onto another customer while you browse or think on it etc. Then come back to you later one. To demand full attention for an extended amount of time is unfair to everyone, including other customers. When I started out, I kept the rep busy for about 2 hours the one day and another 2 hours the next day. I did leave them with over 20k of my cash and it was a good experience, but the shop was pretty quiet. They have to balance each customer who walks in, try work with that. If you dont get helped at all, then its a problem. A good rep will acknowledge each and every customer who comes in and makes sure they dont end up wondering where the help is. Make sure they know they will come back to you in a few minutes while they help somebody else etc. Communication at the end of the day resolves these issues, but need to be fair to everyone.
  5. How long is this special on for?
  6. Jonkershoek on a cooker of a day this weekend.
  7. Its actually a decent ride from Town in Stellies out to Jonkers... if you want a bit of a warm up..
  8. Olympic is great if you are looking for accessories and they usually have a good range of bikes to chose from. I have to admit however that if you want a decent service, dont take it to them. I bought a brand new Scott 950 2013, they built it up for me and I collected the following morning. Lets just say ive had to take the thing back about 5 or 6 times. Right off the bat it wasnt shifting properly in front. Took it back, collected again, and rear wouldnt shift properly. Then the new fox shocks started making this clicking noise when being depressed and released, those went back, returned but they didnt set my lockout correctly. Back it went, couple weeks later, shocks made the same noise. Back it went again. So far so good now though. Shifting is finally working correctly (last visit there for the first service, and the chain shifted right off the rear cassette. I luckily managed to adjust this myself and since has been working without issue. The guys at olympic are great, but the guys doing the servicing need some serious training. Ive also head that the volume of repairs they need to make means less care for your bike when it eventually makes the stand. When I spend about 20k on a piece of equipment I expect it to work flawlessly from the start, and not have to continuously take it back for adjusting. I wont ever take my bike back there to be serviced, I will however buy my accessories there, decent prices compared to most places.
  9. Speedy Cycles in Wynberg does excellent bike services, not a great places for parts/accessories but their service is awesome and cheap. I find the bigger stores give worse service and often just breaks my shifting which I need to reset. Olympic cycles is one of those. I live around the corner from Crown but wasnt certain about them, will have to try them out.
  10. Jonkershoek - awesome trails that you can actually begin at the Fire base just before you get to the gate at Jonkers. They take you right up and into the reserve with access to most of the single tracks.. Heading there tomorrow morning
