  1. sick! I just need a bakkie now
  2. I bought a Ryder 1200 lumen front light from CWC... did the trick for me.. battery life seems decent as well. R850
  3. absolutely loved it. Ended up spraining my wrist quite badly on the night ride, so unfortunately was unable to ride on Sat. But what I saw of the short route was absolutely awesome. I somehow missed the last left turn to the finish and ended up doing another loop to finish. Ah well, was fun never the less. I had hopes of finding the best of the ST this weekend but will have to come back very soon to ride again. My new favourite place to ride, going to book the eco huts asap.
  4. Jaco I would.. coming out of a multiple ankle ligament injury which seems to act up at around the 30km mark. Dont want to try push it and I know Ezelfontein isnt smooth jeep track. + 1400m of climbing.. might be a bit much for my slightly underprepped legs
  5. been waiting for this since I entered... off day tomorrow. heading up early, and plan on staying for the weekend. Seems that ill need more time on Sunday to nail some of that single track I might miss doing the 36km..
  6. dont even think you need any cash. There are these dudes on scooters with spares ready to go.. dont even think they ask anything for them. They will even pump it for you. This was in the tail ender group
  7. Companies are out there to help themselves before they help you. Prices at events are generally more expensive, because of the immediate need. So yes, we get taken advantage of, and theres really nothing we can do about it. This is evident in every single industry out there.
  8. David Thorne is brilliant... This one is classic: http://www.27bslash6.com/halogen.html
  9. Not many people like the bridge? Damn.. it is actually my favourite section of the trail Have seen numerous people fall into the riverbed after getting the angle wrong, however its awesome to get it right and power out the other end. This is on the way back to the start though. Had a nice little technical climbing section on the way to silvermine alone the top path that has also been dumped with sand and made smooth. Was so hopping for it to be tricky, but it wasnt
  10. I take mine to my LBS to lube up the pivots every so often. Heard horrible stories of these things seizing up and ruining the frame.
  11. 100% Issues come in with runners/cyclists on narrow tracks/path knowing full well that there is traffic. I had to scare the crap out of one female runner who could not hear me whistle or shout and basically had to skim past her side. She skrikked right into the side bush.. I had a good laugh. Sorry for you, but pay more attention.
  12. hmm only applies to roadies maybe?
  13. No excuse for a shoddy online purchasing system. If you cannot get the pricing right, I dont even want to think of what else might be an issue at the same time.
  14. Evobikes has a groupset for about just over 2k which is really decent. However no stock.. Easybike has em for about 2.2k.. might actually go local rather than buy oversees, much of a muchness it seems.
  15. reading up, lank okes recommend SLX over the XT, even thought the XT are slightly more expensive.
  16. Thanks, just found the first two..
  17. Then the next question is SLX BRM 675 or XT BRM 785
  18. Does anybody know of one? Have a family member going over and would really like some SLX brakes. I can order them on CRC and ship them down but not sure if theres a better option in the states? One I can have delivered and brought over to me when they return. Thanks
  19. LOL - I had some good laughs here
  20. Cyclists with headphones piss me off... runners as well.
  21. Get the fitment people to set the seatpost at the height the new seatpost would give. This wont be for a prolonged period so wont cause any issues with the frame, but you will definitely be able to tell if the height is sufficient. Either way the Tompson Elite seatposts are awesome, I would get the 410mm regardless if you need a longer post, not really any other option anyway, you need a longer post. The setback is only needed if the frame is quite long enough.
  22. Dude, same issue as I had - im also 1.98m What sorted it out for me was one of these: http://bikethomson.c...ck_elite_69.jpg Its about 410mm instead of 400mm and has ovalled walls for extra strength. I ride a 21.5inch bike and should ideally be riding a 23" bike. This seatpost helps with that, although im slightly off angle on the handle bars as a result, but nothing major. Developed such an issue with PFPS from having an incorrect setup, that moving to this new seatpost, has solved it completely. I see the Giant X 1 XL is about 22" so the setback could work, but you could possible just get away with the 410mm straight seatpost. Last think you want to do is oval your frame, pretty much trash material after that.
  23. So the only link between this guy and cycling is the yellow sticker on the back? Are we playing taffic cops now as well? If no cyclist was involved directly, no point in making a thread about, especially around bad drivers.. the forum will fall over from to many threads.
  24. AKA, MTB Tyres, with knobs on them for grip, unlike roadie slicks etc.
