  1. They don't make 26'ers anymore bro!
  2. Sorry. Bit unnecessary.
  3. Holy sh*t. Because I was being serious, and not lightheartedly commenting on the fact that it's not necessarily the ideal bike for everyone... Too much online forum discourse and not enough real human interactions?
  4. I was actually going to say Meerendal...
  5. Looks like an amazing bike. For places with actual steeps. But I'm sure I'll see a bunch out at Jonkershoek soon.
  6. Which is the point, no?
  7. Meh. Tata owns Jaguar. Still don't want a Tata.
  8. Makes sense. Cycling being an indoor sport and all...
  9. Don't know why, but I just can't get myself to like these Mojo's.
  10. Not going to lie, all these blacked out Enduro's and Stumpies with Ohlins Coils on make my pants a bit tighter.
  11. Just saw your footer. Lol.
  12. Pardon my ignorance, but what the hell is a high and short tire?
  13. Well seeing how Rob Warner rode his Meta V4 chasing Yolanda Neff I reckon that's the "One"
  14. Yip, Pole looks like the real deal. That build of his weighs almost 17kg though but he still rode big mountain days on it. Not sure that's ideal, but as he said, he built it up as a mini-DH sled so one could shed 3kg easy without all the puncture protection, DH tyres, coil shock and alloy everywhere.
  15. Anyone have a clue where I can find a pricelist for Cotic frames. I want to make my fantasies a bit more realistic.
  16. If you can't imagine this forum as being a bunch of blokes at the bar giving each other stick then perhaps you're taking it too seriously.
  17. How do you figure I'm upset? Can I not query the wisdom of your publicly pronounced choices? This is surely a forum of discussion? Or may we only applaude and agree here? Quite the bunch of ja-broers here.
  18. Yup. Which is why I don't mind the tack of the minion up front. The Spez rubber out back isn't holding me back on the climbs.
  19. Sea Otter though. Cambers and Jeffsies competing for the podium in the DH.
  20. Here's a wacky stat for you though. Accepting that I had to AT LEAST go up to a stronger sidewall combo for my bike and opted for the Slaughter Grid out back and Butcher Grid out front the net result is zero. Ground Control Grid (810g) is 145g lighter than the Slaughter Grid (955g) And the Butcher Grid (1000g) is, yup you guessed it, 145g lighter than the Minion DD (1145g). So worst case I sacrificed 145g (Butcher Grid vs Minion) since I would say the Ground Control and Slaughter sidewalls are the same so ignore that gain for honesty's sake.
  21. I immediately noticed the weight difference on the front wheel with the Minion in DD casing, but I am running a very light bike with light carbon hoops so I reckon the 250g penalty, whilst sucky, is ok given that I noticed a massive difference in grip and control when landing big hucks or hitting a corner hard. The Butchers were giving me heart attacks at times, folding too easily, so I had to ride impractical pressures. Climb wise, the rear tire is still a sane XC option (Ground Control Grid) so it's not that bad. Ideally I want a 800g tire that has strong sidewalls and good grip. You have to unfortunately pick two of the three.
  22. Yes I know. I was actually referring more to people buying dream bikes with top-end spec and then saying "Nah, they did it better in 2008. Let me slap this ancient crap on it because it's so burly. And I'm a burly rider. BURLY BRU!". Massive difference from saying "Ok, I know this Pike is great, but I'm willing to offer up 100g for the Lyrik or 36 because I want something a bit bigger." or "Ok, I know this Fox X2 is great and probably good enough for me, but I'll offer up 250g for a coil which has massive advantages in my opinion." or "Ok, I'm willing to sacrifice 250g for stronger, better tyres because to finish first I need to first finish...". But some of the lunacy I've seen on this site is jumping the shark. Just buy a DH bike.
  23. Really? Your Giant Reign Advanced, as ridden by the world's best, has compromises everywhere?
