  1. I see the ZAR is back to pre-August 2015 levels again...flirting with sub-13 to the USD. These prices aren't adding up.
  2. Almost? You can definitely go over to a bikepark for a week with a boxed cash crusaders special go ride your YT in the parks for 5 days and come back a winner.
  3. So would they ship here? Would it be cheaper to just have it DHL'ed and take the duties knock? If so, that must be the death-knell for the local distributor, no?
  4. I am p*ssing myself at the industry right now. All of a sudden we're swinging back towards trail bikes with more sensible geometry numbers as our go-to bike. A year ago people were falling over themselves to try and get more travel, slacker angles and longer wheelbases on everything. In 2015 short travel, but slack AF was the rage. Next year? Mid-travel, and efficient angles? *GASP* You mean like bikes were in 2014? And guess what, you're still going to ride the way you rode, with the people you rode, where you rode. So as always, #gof*ckyourselfbikeindustry
  5. Still better looking than these new enduro full faces everyone seems convinced you now need all of a sudden.
  6. Doesn't look that weird in person.
  7. Or "Designed in a studio on a Mac.In the untamed Africa."
  8. Shouldn't the top tube read: Layered and moulded in the untamed East?
  9. How does a coil pull shock work?
  10. Naas. So what is the diver boss getting in its place?
  11. He's not wrong you know. Segment hunter on a climb is daft if not incorporated in the whole trail.
  12. Ja, there is virtually no differentiation in looks between any of their bikes. What gives?
  13. Yeah, but that brace at the seat tube is fugly!
  14. "One" of the greatest. Pretty sure it's "The" greatest. And no, Rachel doesn't count. She didn't race Vouilloz, Peat, Gwinn, Hill et al.
  15. Loves Rock Razor. Hates Slaughter. Mkay...
  16. Shot! Maybe I'll catch you guys on the hill. P.s. wrt that drop - remember #bonesmendpresssend
  17. At the moment Taalmonument indulges a few of us maintaining the existing network of trails which includes managing the fynbos and doing minor repairs. A few guys also build a bit, but I stay clear since I'm no builder. We're mostly now just looking from some rake and ride options - there are two that are ridiculously fun and come winter will be open hopefully. Bottom line is, you can't just go on the trails and build, and it's something we police amongst ourselves, but on the other hand, some general maintenance assistance is always welcome. Taalmonument pays for maintenance every now and again, but there are some plans afoot that would change the whole dynamic of the place. In my opinion, for the better, but some may not take it that well. With regard to the clay quarry aka Playgrounds, it's a bit of a free for all. Still Taalmonument managed land, so official line is stay away, but people build what they want when they want, but 90% of the time the lines have been a joke and just get left unridden once these heroes realise they're not Kyle Strait and they're balls are 7 sizes too small for what they just built. Or sometimes it's just too dangerous to ride. So basically, it would be awesome if a shuttle group could take their first runs and dedicate it to just sussing out the trails for branches and growth and just clean it a bit as they go. It took me and a mate 90 minutes Friday arvo to open that bridge line which was starting to look ragged with branches everywhere. Would take a shuttle group of twenty one run. Stoked everyone is enjoying the trails though. Let's hope for some rain.
  18. We arranged signage and then the guy just fell off the face of the earth. There is general notice at the gate re payment though.
  19. It's all Taalmonument land. Permit for the lot. Not just the race track.
  20. He's supposed to direct you to the reception for permits. Trails are blown out which makes this just that bit more annoying to hear.
  21. Cool. So did you guys all buy permits? Went riding late arvo and the not braking in corners etiquette was definitely left at the cars. Good thing we cut the trails open Friday after work. Growth was getting into the line quite a bit.
  22. I suspect all those new Banhoek trails are a thing of the past. "Thankfully" this appears to be a fynbos fire, so after a good season of rain it should be fine again. Now I'm more concerned for the vineyards.
  23. I really want to see what and where all of you ride to justify this obsession with slack AF bikes. 68 degrees is plenty slack for South Africa and they want this to be a versatile bike that you can still enjoy Origins of Trails on. All bikes don't HAVE to be mini DH sleds.
  24. Boost on 650b would be redundant and just serve to add costs.
