  1. They are awesome, but are a bitch to sharpen
  2. a) Price increase is because they don't have a headline sponsor at the moment. b) if this "When engaging with an IT consultant, we learnt that while updating the back-end of ww.twooceansmarathon.org.za with suggested (but not finalised or ratified) information regarding 2020 entry fees and processes, these web pages were actually visible to the public." isn't blaming the IT guy, then I don't want to see when they in fact DO blame the IT guy.
  3. In my experience.... LOTS of "specialists". I'm either not brave enough or not enough of a specialist
  4. Two Oceans -2019 Two oceans a bit of a disaster - Not well received - Post new ballot process and entry fees sneaky like late one evening - News not well received, - blame social media and news24 - News not well received - F it, blame the IT guy - Await feedback and ready next excuse https://www.twooceansmarathon.org.za/press_releases/media-release-apology-to-runners-and-sport24-co-za/
  5. In case anyone missed Dischem entries and still want one
  6. My guess is that the goodie bag will consist of discount vouchers ($100 worth)... not holding my breath for anything worthwhile
  7. This looks pretty cool https://www.runningworldcup.com/
  8. The one difference wrt Discovery miles vs Discover currency is that the currency seems to be worth less (worthless?!) than miles was before
  9. Just double down and catch up the sessions you missed . But seriously, don't try and catch up; what's gone is gone. I would continue as if no sessions were missed. Most of these programs do take into account that some sessions will be missed for whatever reason, so it's not the end of the world when it does happen
  10. In for the Back-2-Back. Hopefully won't cut it so close again
  11. Nice little surprise today, all my backdated transactions have been processed and my Discovery Miles updated accordingly. Also earning Discovery Miles on CC swipes for the last few weeks now
  12. I’ve been telling the mrs we need some Barry White in the bedroom
  13. That I understand, but your quote grew from one paragraph to two. Stevief accidentally replied in your quote, not important, all tongue firmly in cheek
  14. Check what you posted, then check what you were quoted for the same post at 12:24
  15. If ever there was a case of putting words in someone’s mouth, this is it
  16. You and my 2 year old daughter have something in common then...????
  17. Yeah, the fitness targets are easy enough. The problem (if you want the 100% discount) is the drive goal (I only hit about 50% of those) and the money goal (about 33%) The money goal is bit dof for me, the say they want to encourage "responsible spending" but you have to blow a certain amount of money each week to make to goal. Seems to be a bit of an oxymoron
  18. Quite handy... I just need to halve the distances then I have my pacing chart for a good 21.1km
  19. Always been partial to a nice Kershaw myself. As a kid, I used to drool over the double page spread in Magnum every month that showed the entire range, in particular the original Kershaws made in Japan by Ichiro Hattori. They were unfortunately quite pricey and waaaaay out of range for a 10year old’s pocket money but always wanted one. So paging through some ebay adverts a couple of years ago I found the folder version of the range (model 1050) n mint condition. Put in my bid and low and behold, won the auction. All in all, it landed here for under R500. In similar fashion I also found a model 1040 folder, but these were part of the scrimshaw range in the not so PC early 80’s. (Basically the handle scales were made of bone (some say whale bone, although I can’t find a definitive answer on this) and engraved. Also mint condition, with original wooden box
  20. Has anyone else noticed the bug that has crept in during the last few weeks where points are allocated for more than one activity per day (ie not just the highest point allocation for the day, but everything?)? This has happened a few times in the last couple of weeks on my profile
  21. Yes, your status is carried over to the next year. It can change in the following year if you move to a higher status e.g. Silver->Gold
  22. Congrats... somehow "Vaal marathon entry confirmed" doesn't quite have the same ring to it. (even though they are more or less on par prestige wise)
