  1. *Cough* https://www.facebook.com/tokaimtb/photos/a.163720817155008.1073741826.163447820515641/729199257273825/?type=3&theater
  2. That is one properly disturbing show.
  3. Not today but Saturday and Sunday spent at Tokai. http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r251/mss-65/IMG_20171021_131040_zps8ahtjs9f.jpg
  4. In the case of Tokai it is only this Saturday the 23rd. As far as my understanding goes (which isn't usually very far to be fair) for the rest of the park it is for the seven days from Saturday.
  5. Yes it is, we got final clarification today.
  6. If you are here on Saturday 23rd then Tokai is a very good option as entry for the day is free on production of a valid form of SA ID.
  7. For a while on Sunday, as I watched Duane fly up the mast road, he was my new hero. I drove past him on the way up there and a km or two later I pulled over for coffee. By the time I had poured the coffee and packed away the flask Duane was passing me. I was awestruck by what I thought was his new roadie inspired levels of fitness and stamina. And then he blew it by stopping to let me try out the bike... Seriously though I can see why it would be disconcerting riding up Boulders as when the power kicks in things get a little strange.
  8. My youngster at play in Tokai. I nicked a screengrab from a phone video his buddies shot. http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r251/mss-65/Ben%20Tokai%20jump_zps8ldozxgm.png
  9. Apparently my, far simpler, plan to get the committee into an Octagon for a "Last man standing decides on the trails" fight isn't going to happen
  10. Six hours to go, time for one more go
  11. Making this an annual event for Tokai would be a good start
  12. For reasons I have no understanding of the order numbers didn't start at one, but it is going well and the total is well clear of the bike value. Given that a lot of guys took multiple entries the order number wouldn't be a good guide even if they did run from one.
  13. Five days to go and counting and I'm back with today's thread bump. These guys, Charles and Paul, that spend their day up on the mast road would like to say thanks for the new rainproof gear that this has allowed us to buy for them. This means they can at least be warm and dry while looking out for us. And I get to feel mildly less guilty sitting in a warm vehicle as they battle the elements http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r251/mss-65/IMG_20170708_090841_zpssvibgphp.jpg We were also able to get quite a bit of repair work and alien removal completed on a few of the tracks this week, with more coming this week too. So thanks to all that have donated and keep it up! You may see some posters around that look a lot like this http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r251/mss-65/IMG_20170704_132657_zpsd6kymx15.jpg If you see someone looking at one of these, encourage them to enter. A lot. It's going really well so far but, not unlike coffee & cake, more is just better
  14. One week to go, lets make it a good one for the trails So far this week a small potion of the donations received so far have assisted us in clearing a path through the thorns etc that were making progress down the Switchbacks/Bridal Path a trail fit for masochists only. It is now clear and good to ride. We also got at the entrance to Snake Eyes and repaired the wheel grabbing rut that had made it a bit of a hair raising experience and added some water management to try and stop the rut making a reappearance. Earlier in the week we, with the help of Chris Nixon, plotted out a line for DH0 and should start clearing work on that next week. Once it is cleared of vegetation we will get Chris back in, along with our favourite trail builder Reto, and confirm the line and features before ploughing on with getting it built. All this is because you guys have and are donating generously. Keep it up!
  15. With the amount of unofficial 'B' lines that seem to pop up everywhere I have a feeling everything is the new green
  16. I really hope so because they deserve it* *Absolutely not a pathetic attempt by me to get a discounted Santa Cruz** **Although I wouldn't say no
  17. I was sorely tempted by an N64 with Goldeneye and Mario 64 bundled a few days back. If I bought it would I be getting busy wrecking some great memories was the worry that stopped a purchase. Well that a potentially enraged wife and a slight lack of funds...
  18. Not a cent shall be wasted on beer.Coffee on the other hand...
  19. And that's before you take into account the constant harassment from me ????
  20. The committee on the other hand, not being allowed to enter, just look at the line up and sigh plaintively.
  21. Not today but close enough. It's winter, the Tokai sky is blue and you are out on a bike with your kid. Things are good. http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r251/mss-65/Ben%20Vasbyt%202_zpsge9rjz0f.png
  22. Yes the Juliana is in there.
  23. They are but due to many test runs they did not begin at 1.
  24. The trick there is to keep going back and buying more entries, stacking the odds in your favour
