  1. something classy for a Friday Afternoon
  2. especially when it's Bunnahabhain
  3. really? good to know. when my friends went and I looked at the menu I felt I'd be getting a raw deal with the vegetarian options. did a whiskey and food pairing once as well and I was really not impressed with the lack of effort to put something interesting together for the vegetarians (so i just drank)
  4. ok
  5. I've never really used Bulgar wheat before and taste wise i'm not sure how different it is to quinoa but it's quick and simple to make (just soaked in hot water for 15 minutes last night) - just chop up some veggies, add vegan country cylindrical shaped edible things, spice and dressing as desired I guess. add some bulk to an otherwise bland salad.
  6. Cube tasting kitchen when they were in maboneng
  7. I went to one of these Gastronomy dinner evenings with about 12 different taster plates and being the vegetarian one of them was butternut cooked 3 ways.... it all tasted the same.
  8. OMG no. He was supposed to wait for me to do my freedom challenge. I'm gonna miss him so much, all the jibes and the help and advice from him. Johann actually sent me a Call me! message once when he saw the abomination I was busy with when trying to put sealant in my tyres. I never met Sandra but if you are in touch with her, please let her know I send my love and hugs.
  9. when she first came out I didn't think much of her music, but she's matured so much in her music and she really can sing. have you seen the doccie about her on netflix? worth a watch if you're bored.

  14. Nice alternative to the chickpea burger. Black bean asian flavour that might not be everyone's cup of tea but I like the texture.
  15. Thanks for that. I was googling options in Croatia and this made me think of how hard it must be, if even as a vegetarian it's tough. small towns in argentina was tough, and I found China/Hong Kong tough though there was the odd place run by monks that had proper stuff, even in Chinese restaurants - the use of chicken stock, fish paste, oyster sauce in vegetarian food etc - it's a mine field!
  16. @Odi - i have a question, just curious - have you ever been in a situation , especially when traveling where you're at a restaurant and there's simply NOTHING vegetarian on offer, except maybe chips and you're not even sure that's vegan. How do you deal? I'm a very non fussy vegetarian but I remember years back in Argentina it was down right impossible to get food that wasn't a garnish to eat and when you're staying in a hostel type setup without access to a kitchen you're kinda stuck.
  17. Disco are official sponsors of Park Run and personally I think it's an excellent initiative getting non sporting people up and out for a Saturday morning. I volunteer at my local parkrun and the people that come out and come in an hour later struggling but are back the next week are the ones that are targeted, let them have their 300 points man! Don't shoot the messenger - since they did away with the pre-run for volunteers, there's been talk about giving points to volunteers - won't be 300 points but the premise being you're still out there moving around. Personally I'm against that but I guess 50 points ain't too much skin off someone's back..or maybe it is.
  18. Exactly this... i agree that divorce shouldn't be a cop out, but it's also not this evil deed with a stigma attached. If it's broken, there's no point trying to keep glueing it back together, rather just close the book and start another.
  19. How cute is this https://twitter.com/m_yosry2012/status/1084089512467279872?s=19

  25. that was very good. thanks for sharing. I often feel sorry for people that work in places like abattoirs, I can't imagine it's good for the mental health at all.
