  5. "memorabilia" What memorabilia ? The only thing I remember was a lot of uphills, for a supposedly downhill race
  6. I'm going to be bold here. Shouldn't the T Shirt be for free. Its free advertising for the Event
  7. practical purpose - zero. twice as many components than necessary. Why eliminate a chain with power transmission close to 100% to substitute with elastic, that will have huge losses ???
  8. Carbon is much stronger than any other material found on a modern bike
  9. Guys , seriously, do you actually think it will make a difference to the way taxi's drive?

  12. Here is a thought starter .... you will get the right time assigned to you after the race ... but should you fall and injure yourself badly, and you are unconscious, in a medical emergency, they will put your friends bloodtype into you are you cool with that ?
  13. I joined a cycling club in Feb of this year. I advanced 6 groups and went from an ave. of 20km/hr to 30 km/hr in 9 months. All I have is passion and a will to enjoy myself. Training in a group takes the boring aspect out of it. All I do is monitor my heart rate, that it does not go over the theoretical maximum for my age. These club rides are on a Saturday, where they can be from 70 - 95km distance, and i'm usually out on a sunday funride of 20-45 km. This is just an idea of what is achievable without a coach, but just good sense, and info on the internet. I have built up my bike as a hobby, checked the bike fit with tons of info on the internet. Still happy with my progress, and targeting a sub 3 hour 94,7 this year. Hope this helps in giving a lot of you some benchmarks.
  14. Thanks for your help guys. Always much appreciated
  15. I cycle for fun... Corollary - like calculus at school ... If I wont perceive it as fun, then I wont ride it
  16. Haha, all these saddlebag haters.... Just put a sign on your jersey, so I can drive straight past when you guys get punctures.
  17. Most local drivers, drive like F**k*** W*nk**s. They could be on their way to a roller skating competition for that matter. The initial post is only spreading the LOVE between MTB'ers and Roadies.

Ok, so is she a cyclist trying to model, or a model trying to cycle ???
  19. Do you actually do any shopping? You will be disappointed! 99% of shops offer an exchange on another product in their shop, not a full refund

Another one please ..... who or what is Emily Batty ?
  21. rant, rant, rant ...... " So they offer me a refund or replace the missing items with something else." Very fair of them, how many other shops will offer you a full refund ? Good on CWC. The availability issue is something all shops go through. If you are a good seller, its normal for you to be out of stock
  22. Hello J9. I think I had exactly the same problem. Before trying any complicated fix, get some Q20 and spray inside your hub. My problem has gone away completely.

    Amashova 2013

Yip, I was in E group, and must have happened just before we got there. Its the local passers by, who think they can try and beat the cyclists coming through at probably 50km/hr. A rider was injured and lying on the floor, together with a pedestrian lying on her back, and bleeding profusely from a head wound.
  24. Glad you got your camera back buddy. Have fun with it

    Amashova 2013

Well, what can I say about my first Amashova. I found out its not downhill from PMB to DBN. A clever optical illusion at best. Well done to the organisers, everything went smoothly. A great idea to have your name printed on the race number, there was opportunity to shout out some good chirps. I started in the E group, and considering the bad weather, I was fortunate to get into some good groups, there was a small fast one where the lead out man had a camera on his helmet. Thanks to you guys, I am very impressed with my 3h19 I did believe that this is harder than the 94,7 and Argus, mainly because there are less people on the route to spur you on. Sorry, i'm not familiar yet with the geography and place names, but there were some nasty hills out there. Some of them seemed never ending. Not knowing or having seen the terrain before, wasn't sure how hard to push on some uphills, fearing there would be another lurking just behind it. I really appreciated the scenery, with lots of rolling hills and greenery. There were are lot of keen youngsters along the way in the rural areas wanting to "high 5" with the riders. Compliments to all, now I just need to work on shaving 1 minute every 5 km's, to go below the 3 hour mark
