  1. O dear... things are getting out of hand again.. yes, going south fast. I never understood that though, what is so bad about the south? And south of what? Would it make more sense with an apostrophe?
  2. I use squirt myself, and are quite happy. When I do have the time though, I use Maxima Chain Wax. It rocks, and stays on for a long time. http://www.mtbr.com/cat/accessories/Lube/maxima/chain-wax/PRD_360353_131crx.aspx
  3. There is no magic pill that will give you motivation. If you don't enjoy riding, chances are this will fickle out again. If you used to do road, try mtb. Try figure out why you want to ride and focus on that, as just wanting to will definitely change with your mood. Also maybe join a club or get some okes around you who enjoys cycling and can invite you along (and deny your excuses)
  4. How will he charge his cell on the road? Or is that a stupid question?
  5. Yeah, also, fold a business card over the rotor before you put the caliper over it, then do the pulling-the-brake then fasten trick. I also have 2008 XT brakes, that works like a charm for me.
  6. Hey - hope you found some folk to ride with! It was HOT! Hot and very sandy, but a good test. Looking frw to Lourensford on the 28th, if it has not burned down!
  7. Ahhhh stunning! Well done - great bike, hope you will have many many happy trails. Congratulations one the new edition.
  8. What distance you guys doing?
  9. Also PM Stryder400 - he is looking for a helmet that Omnico says they are not bringing in
  10. To my knowledge they are gonna try for once a year. Jhb was the first one, then Cpt - Knysna - Dbn
  11. O yeah - maybe you can ask one of the hubbers in your area even to show you how to, then he/she can 'unset' the derailer and you can set it again. Two or three times like that with some assistance and you will be well on your way.
  12. Indeed - well done on looking for resources to equip yourself! Knowing how to set brakes and derailleur is a great help!
  13. Dink dit was laas jaar, dis nou soplepel of houtlepel met die keuse van watse hand
  14. So you are saying that I do not have ANY idea of the basics of English and follow that up by saying at least you TRY when you speak Afrikaans? So it is ok for you to try (and fail) and that is credited to you as doing well, yet, when I do the exact same thing, it is not only criticized, but drawn into another forum to prove what? I hope you find this double standard of you as funny and perplexing I do!
  15. ..and this is why I do my best (with my obvious limited grasp of the language) to communicate in English on this forum, so all can understand. Speaking for myself, I do it out of politeness and because I believe I will be understood by a larger portion of the readers out there. I find some people being so quick to point and correct, but their grasp on the Afrikaans language is even worse than my limited one of the English language. Some might find some weird pleasure in being one up on another person when it comes to their own, native language - but that is no great feat, but fairly obvious surely? So yes, I bow to the English speaking people on this forum who has a better command of their own language than I do. Yet I still managed to pass matric with a B for English, albeit as second language. Some people get their kicks out of weird things I guess - each to his own. This response must have you rolling in laughter, so glad I could help
  16. Slightly confused I am. Can they rebuild using same hub and spokes on new rim, or same hub, spokes and rim?
  17. Not sure if they can help with courier, but City Cycles in Cpt still has 2 X 2007 Trance's on the floor (one M, one L) for just over R14... Not the X's - still the one with the Glory hole - but stillWernervdmerwe2009-02-16 07:31:37
  18. Depends - which option is the cheapest? Nah - you guys will know him as Stryder400, he is a good mate, so maybe not replace him yet.
  19. Dammit - yeah' date=' I fought that might be wrong This is a funny funny forum Note to HGP (HubGrammarPolice) - the fought play on thought was on purpose, just before I get thrown off the hub for being too stupid...
  20. I borrowed a set of wheels to a mate of mine to try out the tires. Due to a very unfortunate flow of circumstances, he came of the bike at speed. I am taking him to the orthopedic surgeon tomorrow to get op dates etc. (The ligaments between the collar bones tore, and has to be surgically replaced! ) Can I fix the rim, or should I just replace that?
  21. What a day! It is like a kid being let loose in a candy store with a entrance that leads to a toy store, but you have to walk through a games arcade to get there.. Thanks Meurant for making a venue avail and thanks to all the guys that made bikes available - marketing is a worthwhile portion of budget. I was a bit of a girl and did not want to go through on my own (riding alone sucks) and my normal partner tore the ligaments between his collar bones on our ride yesterday, but I went with another mate, but way too late for the selection that there was I realize now. Only had opportunity to ride about 3 or 4 bikes each, but there were a lot more I would be really keen on trying out - I know they have one in Knysna (May?), so might be worth while to pull through there and try them out. This essay thus goes to applaud the concept - great fun, great bikes, great vibe, great bikes, great people and great bikes Could not help wondering how many of the guys that either flew past me were fellow hubbers Hats off to all of you that entered into this most enjoyable sport!
  22. Old thread, I know, but I just want to make sure I do not break things. I have Mavik 317 rims and normal Crossmark tires (non UST). If I buy the Joe / Stans kit (rim strips & sealant) will that allow me to throw my tubes away?
