  1. Bradley Trek's began to take off in this country in the late 80's after the introduction of the 1200 series Trek road bike. It was an aluminium frame with Shimano group set and Mavic wheels if I recall. Probably around the same time Cannondale became popular, just before MTB. The 470 was earlier model and not very popular. R2,500 is probably a bit steep to have paid for it if you want to sell at a profit. Clean it up and advertise and see what offers you get. I too would like to see more pics of the Torelli. The Atlanta 96 wheel was enough to get me interested.
  2. Shimano 600 Ultegra was a super groupset in the day, easy to work on and lasted for years. I have stock of a few mint front derailleurs but only one damaged rear derailleur. Finding NOS hoods are virtually impossible and even the Shimano agents don't have any and refuse to bring in stock (LBS has tried). eBay is the only place to source NOS hoods at present. See http://www.ebay.com/...l-/390581263508 I also have 2 sets of levers. The one pair is NOS still unopened in its original packaging. The other is a used pair that is in VGC 8/10 as seen in the below pics. Also have a full 600 wheel set available with 8 spd Hyperglide cassette laced to Ambrosio Aero Durex rims. Make me a reasonable offer.............
  3. Hahahaha! I am just a poor boy. I may have some stuff but still deciding what groupo for a Bianchi SL I am about to restore. I am also 54 so watch out, make sure your Master is chained to your headboard at night.
  4. It will make a nice project to restore. What size frame and do you have groupo?
  5. There is a gardener around the corner that had a mint condition Cinelli that I approached a year or so ago to do a swap deal, new bike or cash for old. His Bryanston owner had given him the bike but forbid him selling or swapping it. Anyway long story short, I have stayed in contact and have fixed parts over the months. Saw the bike recently and it's in such a poor state I no longer want it as the paint work is in such a bad way. Sad!
  6. Lucky fellow (you) not the security guard. Yes, lets see some pics. You may even consider buying him a brand new Titan or something from Macro as a swap.
  7. Agreed, the wheels would look cool on a plain white Master. Too many colours.
  8. Thanks Luke Very constructive review based upon your personal experience. I have been putting off the purchase but will go ahead now.
  9. Agreed, but why have another computer when you can use your phone. Problem is gps chews power on all today's phones but not too serious if you fully charged and ride for less than 4 hrs. ANT+ bluetooth sensors will become cheaper, phone batteries last longer (gps power drawing less), etc. At the moment the Wahoo Fitness repeater with ANT+ sensors looks like the best option for me. My iPhone can run Strava or any of the other apps repeating the info on my bars with my phone in my pocket. The Wahoo SA agents are ripping it a bit and so I will import directly.
  10. Not knocking Polar but I find they are restricted to Polar products and apps. The sensors must be ANT+ so they can be picked up by other bluetooth receivers. Google DC Rainmaker for full explanation and reviews.
  11. P.S. What I think will be cool is linking up my iPad on a stand next to my IDT and then getting data into other apps. Not keen to have my phone displayed on my handlebars and will use the repeater.
  12. Hi Super J I am in the market for a similar product and narrowed it down to getting the Wahoo Fitness brand. http://wahoofitness.co.za/shop/android/wahoo-blue-sc-speed-and-cadence-sensor/ They do HRM and speed/cadence pickups. The only reason I haven't bought yet is the product is expensive in SA and will have a mate bring me some from Europe in a few weeks. Is there anyone using Wahoo Fitness who can provide reviews? Yes, I have looked at DC Rainmaker & coy (all very good).
  13. C Record group sets are getting rare. Will keep an eye out. Let Linden and Northcliff cycles know because they would be a source to off load.
  14. Sorry to hear the bad news! Let us know what parts were stolen so we can keep an eye open for them. Also good to let us know your whereabouts so we are aware of the area the parts may surface.
  15. The best way to view a 'Nago! Hey Gummi, any of those Kings Horses yours?
  16. Lot's of truth in Happy Martin's post. Don't sit for long periods in the saddle without getting off on to the rails. Use every gradient to get out of the saddle for a bit. Not only does it relieve pressure on your butt it allows blood flow to increase to your legs. The same applies to your hands. Change position often and stretch the arms out behind you to relieve tension in the neck. Sounds if you guys & girls have good quality saddles so they shouldn't be a problem.
  17. You now have a proper Lefty and it's not even a Canondale! Hope you find your arm soon.
  18. No problem, it was a mere coincidence. The work was brilliant but I known it cost a packet. +-R2,000 if my memory serves me correct but it was a complete chrome of the frame fork and handlebars. In my personal experience you never recover the cost of respraying or chroming a frame irrespective of frame. A cheap R500 frame resprayed with new decals could cost you up to R2,000 and you would battle to resell at R2,500. A rare more expensive frame is similar but you have a greater chance of making some money with more expensive frames. The way I look at it is you have to discount the price by the enjoyment you get out of the bike. Older bikes are undervalued in SA at present. Let us know how the bike comes out as I have a frame which I may want to have chromed.
  19. Look at these old Campy beauties. Too special for a Build-a-Bike. Anyone keen on making me an offer? All proceeds go to Build-a-Bike SA PM sent!
  20. Somewhere on the hub comment made regarding excellent work done by http://www.africanelectro.co.za/about.htm
  21. Hey Frail 40 don't forget to post pics
  22. The first C40's are celebrating their 20th birthday. The boss's ride
  23. Very nice, these were classic frames in the day. We must have a retro ride some day soon.
  24. RIP Basil. Condolence to the Cohen family and friends. Many fond memories of the Jhbg CBD store, Hector Norris Park Sunday meets, weekly training and visiting the frame factory across the road in Wemmerpan Road to buy a new bike. Anyone keen to meet at Hector Norris Park next week for a social ride on old SA made frames?
