  1. Nor does 2x/3x fit on many frames
  2. I really wish a group could pull something like this off, and once it is done monitor the participants for 2/3 weeks and hopefully show zero infections. Just to show the government that social interaction and relative opening of the economy can happen without spreading corona. But trying to run this past the SA military, I would not take a chance
  3. I see light weight - only one option left to chose from: durable or cheap Which will it be?
  4. I wonder what will be next. SRAM recently released their 12sp road, so I can’t see them looking at 13sp. And there are so many variations of other brand 12sp cassettes, from 9t to 52t. Maybe an eagle v2, with some refinement to the internals, for some ‘shifting enhancements’?
  5. It's the carbon fibre look that inspired the East Rand to layer their cars with this...but in my mind, that's how carbon fibre should look
  6. OP didn’t even get 2...wasn’t light, wasn’t strong. Just cheap
  7. I only sold mine cos I got a good deal on another second hand bike. I always thought it was a good looking bike. It should have the 6700 ultegra, which is 10 speed. I upgraded mine to 6800 11 speed - again, just found some good second hand deals. But that upgrade was not necessary, the bike was great. One thing I felt, and it probably has more to do with the handle bars more than the bike, was road vibrations. Carbon can be layered in different ways making it stiff, compliant, etc. These bikes have carbon bars and seat posts, but they not the best-you can see it’s very simple thick carbon layering. I suspect an upgraded handlebar would have made a world of a difference.
  8. I had a 2013/2014. It had integrated cable housing. This does not, so it must be older - 2010/2011 seems reasonable
  9. Shimano's patent is up on their clipless mtb, so its free for all out there in terms of using Shimano's design. The cleats for both makes will work in either pedal.
  10. They are not trying to make things convenient, rather inconvenient. Some people hate being inconvenienced and will as a result just stay in doors. They are not encouraging people to go out and exercise, but rather allowing people to do such
  11. Am I the only person interpreting 'no more than 20km from place of residence' as a radius perimeter? My view is they want to keep the virus in smaller geographic pockets and not spread from suburb to suburb. So in effect you can cycle as far as you want/like/able to in 2 hours, provided you have stayed within your 20km radius.
  12. I can vouch for this - after a lengthy winter of indoor training (almost 100% of the time on Zwift), when I go out for ride now I can feel a noticeable difference in my cadence. It is higher and more consistent, and I find myself free-wheeling less as I fatigue slower, and am just so used to pedaling all the time
  13. Very much so in the import industry. Christian imports all the Kickr products as nothing is made locally. BMW, Ford, Toyota, etc all import certain models not made locally, and export certain model made locally. This import/export arrangement gives them a natural hedge ie receive dollars from export which can be used to pay for imports. This reduces the impact of swings in forex. Unfortunately for Christian to hedge against this will require him taking out hedges which come at a price, and will invariably be past on to consumers. The other challenge is the rand stays constant for months, so hedges are usually a waste. Then suddenly the rand has a wobbly an depreciates significantly over a short time. By then it's too late to take out the hedge. Thereafter the rand gradually strengthens, so during this time hedges are just a waste as they wont be executed. And you never know when the next bomb will hit the rand. It cannot be easy for companies who rely solely on imports.
  14. they have a distance limit of 35km - with the current lock down you will probably need at least 1 new email address per day of use
  15. Didn't they all say that about the RS-1, while at the same time complain about weight and stiffness (or lack thereof) and requiring a special hub? I do believe this may be the best from RS for it's intended purpose
  16. i guess we are going to see epic evo's being fitted with this going forward
  17. maybe some of us expacts can get in on the December action if visiting SA. I will be keeping my eye on entries
  18. Who is going to refund us losses on pensions, providents, investments, etc? Nobody! Sometimes **** happens and everyone loses. It’s not just the epic rides who have lost here. And if they epic went ahead and the disease spread faster; the impact on the global economy and markets will be felt even more
  19. I wonder if this is not take the others teams eye off the ball - there are theories as to what the DAS does, but nobody really knows. And as pointed out by Merc themselves, there are thousands of pieces of new tech/innovation going in their car. And will you reveal your most innovative part of the car in the first week of testing, or save it for later? Are there benefit from DAS - probably. But I think there is something else on their car. Art of deception?
  20. Got to agree - comments in the classified were great. Not only entertaining, but often useful to call a seller out. And not always seller who is trying to be a &*%$, but sometimes a seller gets things wrong, and another hubber might have more details. Happened often with the year models where the seller got it wrong and was picked up by another based on the colour scheme, etc
  21. Potentially...there are definitely more scams happening now than in the past. I would say this is due to increased awareness of the hub, as well as the size (volume and price of the cycling industry). If the focus is on new traders, it will make a huge difference, especially when these people are just 'traders' and not actually contributing to the hub community
  22. Turbo Levo SL S-Works Founder's Edition (limited to 250 bikes) - ZAR 250,000 If they made 300 would the price be ZAR 300,000?
  23. Don’t forget the internet...I know you can use mobile data on your phone/tablet, but when the entire suburb is doing this because their fibre at home is down, the 3/4g connections can get very slow and things like Zwift may struggle. And it gets expensive using mobile data
  24. If I was shipping for a top end trainer, I would say Neo. But, I ended up with the Kickr Core - it is so good it will cater for 95% of the population. I most certainly don't put out >1800W, nor do I need the ability for the trainer to handle inclines greater than 16 degrees. When the Kickr/Neo launch, they were the benchmark for direct drive trainers, and still are, but it was easier to justify their price tags. The difference is there are now cheaper options that are so good they are actually viable. The Kickr Core is not some quick slapped together half baked trainer - the accuracy is right up there, build quality incredible, compatible with everything, has all the various axle types, and is essentially silent.
  25. and lots of incomplete shimano sets, either calipers or levers, cos you cant get one without the other
