  1. I run a 34t chain ring. I train mostly in jhb, but included in my mileage mentioned is hell n back, attakwas 2018 (the rainy version), epic 2018 and joberg2c 2018 (which was rather wet). So overall a mixture of conditions
  2. No, I am talking xo1 12 speed chain
  3. Over 10 000km on my xo1 chain and it was not at 50% wear. Are your sure xx1 lasts much longer
  4. This 'reverse' route is actually the original direction. I think it was when car track o some other car tracking company started sponsoring them did they switch the route around. I do prefer the route in the current direction - get the somewhat boring single track sections that are just going up and down the field out the way first, the then do the fun bits in the forest sections last
  5. I had the silver XO1 chain. I did considerably over 10000km on it before it got to 0.5 wear. I then replaced the chain. Not sure on exact mileage, but my XO1 cassette is nearing 15000km. I trained for two epics (was hoping to get an entry in 2017 but this did not happen) , completed epic this year and did jhb2c the month after epic. All this on the original chain and cassette Keep your drive train nice and clean, and properly lubed, and these things can last.
  6. It even comes up on Google Maps as Breedtsnek Parking I also park at the petrol station just before you pass the DUY on the right hand side - never had any issues there
  7. Anybody doing this one?
  8. I understand there has been a change in process, and devices will end up going to Garmin Rosebank. Navworld is aware that this will cause delays, and are looking into having loan/rental units available, so that everyone can get their vitality points...and also record their rides for strava. Rather chat to Navworld first
  9. Distance spot on,climbing I got 1500m
  10. I remember to never believe the distance and elevation on the Web...always shorter with less climbing than what I get on my garmin
  11. Boys at the hub have time for jokes...Load this on the stroke of midnight on 1 April. Now let's see if the president comes out and says the cabinet changes are also a joke
  12. Only difference is the gravel grinder is 2xwhatever, and doesnt have a wide range cassette...which is exactly where the MTB was a few years back Guess its true, history repeats itself
  13. O yes! I'm in
  14. A spacer may work, but not ideal - this will give you a horrible chain line
  15. I think the conditions were great (apart from the really muddy section, but that was about 2km only) and gave some good racing. Sun came out, very little wind, and lots of fun. Got back to my car and some coward crashed their bike into my car (Ford Ranger, so not like its hard to miss) and disappeared without leaving contact details. Long dent and some ugly scratches If anyone saw this happening, please drop me a PM
  16. you lucky - they didn't do that for the 2015 series
  17. Last year there were changes at the beginning of the race, on the way to concrete collision - I think that was a big improvement
  18. Is it just me, or have the forums around the Trailseekers died down? This is the first Trailseeker I am missing in 3 years, and when I see how quite the forum is, I don't have any FOMO
  19. I never believe the advertised distance - always longer than they advertise
  20. there was talk of Momentum pulling out after the 2015 event - that was the general feeling after the survey from Momentum was sent out.
  21. 70km? I will believe that only when I cross the finish line and see 70km on my garmin. always longer than publicised.
  22. I did it on a 34t 11-42 and k@kked. I cycled every hill, but I ran out of matches. will be going with a 32t this year
  23. I have unfinishsed business...I can never decide what part of this race is the worst, the big climbs or the rolling climbs at the end, or soft sand in between, or the slippery rocky sections I will be taking cramp block before and during this years event
  24. soooo, i have another question for Christian - what deal can you make for us on the hub on a kickr/kickr snap? this will answer my questions, and add flexibility. also, what software will i require? does wahoo have something like the cycleops virtual training, or can you use the cycleops virtual training with a wahoo?
