  1. No explenation required.
  2. Try Rietvlei Zoo farm - google it, if I am not mistaking it is in Alberton
  3. Hi, I would ike to get an idea from my fellow hubbers of where they think MTBs will be 20 years from now? What will be the biggest change? Over the last couple of years the biggest changes IMHO was geometry, suspension, pedals and brakes which leaves us with the drivetrain which haven't really changed in the last 30-40 years. We are still running chains with variations of the first derailers.... Multiple selections can be made! Cheers!
  4. ....bit of advice buy 2. I always keep one spare because a hanger is not something a LBS keep stock of (if it comes from a non- popular bike). Sounds stupid but it saved me from not being able to cycling for 2 weeks!
  5. Thanks for your efforts!
  6. ......there goes another R60K :-( :-(
  7. YES PLEASE!!!! Get an updated pic of a proper XC bike....... they (SABC) looks like a bunch of amateurs - which is propably the understatment of the year...... Burry did race a bit of DH in the late 90's.
  8. DH - Helderkruin, Klapperkop, Gilooleys, and Waterkloof 189 or something Trail - Karkloof in Krugersdorp
  9. The only good bike ever made by a car manufacturer was Greg's Honda.
  10. Santa Cruz Tallboy
  11. I would like to say thanks for all of your efforts (to the "manne") for keeping the trails open - preventing it from being shut down, and doing maintenance. People don't realize the effort (physical labour), comittment, preseverance (dealing with SANPARKs) and time that is required. Let me know when you do a build day agian - I want to come and help.
  12. Show a bit of gratitude........ if it wasn't for the Tokai "manne" there will be NO maintenance and the trails will deteriorate untill it is shut down due to the enviromental impact. Why are you fighting these guys?
  13. I am willing to help build any trails - just let me know when, I can unfortunatly only spare 1/2 a Saturday or Sunday due to family commitments - and that other hobby of mine called work. Some will only realize how lucky they had it once Tokai gets closed for MTBers........
  14. Not as close as you but had the pleasure of sharing some single track with a cape cobra, and once a mother off a puffader, it was the size of my arm! Also once had to swerve for a tortoise the size of a football in the middle of the track!
  15. I hope this is true....... he can come ride with me anytime
  16. These courses do add value in making people / cyclists aware. Just remember that the most effective deffence ALWAYS is to run away / walk away and that should be the only goal. Technicques takes lots off practise and repetition...... not even to mention the effects of "adrenaline dump".
  17. Sponsers - Try MTN, they sponsered a large section of the bikepark in Johannesburg....
  18. I competed in the Super D at Mankele (Mankele Avalanche) neaqr Nelspruit, the terain here (contermanskloof and Tokai) would definitly warrant a Super D........ And there are PLENTY of people with 120-160mm travel bikes - not that one is required but thats what they were designed for. Combine it with a DH event (split the shuttle cost between the two events etc.) and you would attract more spectaters, same sponsors to both events as well....
  19. Damm ...... the scale had me going........ would agree it is a spring end bearing....... they might have the same for the shock, that might be what Danny's pinkie is hidding?
  20. That bearing goes between the spring of the shock and the "nut" / spring preload nut. So it sits on the shock. The idea is that one end of the spring is free to "rotate" under compression thus making the a spring shock that more "smooth". You get the same for boxxer forks aswell, a small needle bearing sitting in the fork leg (leg with spring).
  21. You are hitting the rocks because you are now riding a full suspension bike. Remember that when your suspension works your BB actual drops...... You just need to pay a bit more attention to the trail :-) After a couple of rides you would be used to the BB dropping and "anticipating" the BB drop will be second nature.
  22. Taken in Peru.....
