  1. Don't know about Obie........... he serviced my MTB before and made some serious mistakes...............
  2. Glad those days are over..............
  3. Mervin is a good guy and tries his best - his staff sucks! I can tell you 3 or 4 stories......... Try Fritz Pienaar in Irene (South Downs center).....
  4. Hi, Not really any big differance - to small to really notice....... Giant has a Maestro type configuration that eliminates pedal bob I ride a single pivot design that seems to be able to clime up any rocky accent or gain speed on any rocky decent.... Every manufacturer thinks his is the best and sells it...... At the end of the the best advice will be to ride the bike and decide if you like the "feel" . I think your choice will rather be influanced by by ride position (TT lenght, head angle, seat angle etc.) than the susspension design type............ To give you an idea..... I started with a Giant VT - susspension similart to the current Commencal FS design, Then had a giant Reign (Maestro design) and now ride a morewood (single pivot design). The VT was great, the reign was great (no pedal bob when seated), the morewood is great........... not much help....The only differance that I could notice between the 3 of them is that the reign had no pedal bob when seated and the morewood can climb up anything...... But then again I have 2 years more experience than when I started with the reign.......
  5. ........... look for the movie on youtube......... try Hans rey irish pub crawl / steve irish pub
  6. your are missing the 5" and 6" class...........
  7. holly..........it seems you like to walk that fine line.........
  8. ........the only thing missing is a little middget clown that pops a wheeli !!!!!!!
  9. It does not matter anymore........ I am riding a morewood for the last 8 months, not gone ride a giant again...... Thats it........case closed........I acctually moved on till I saw anothercracked frame from giant in the Maestro range and I added my 2c. Cheers!
  10. I am not disputing the warranty thing.......yes I resprayed it...... so no warranty..... IT IS A STUPID RULE THAT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! But that is the rule. Think about it..... A 6" frame cracked after 2 years of XC use....... bad design or faulty workmanship.......... giant got of on a technicality....... The warranty clause is also VERY "mother hood" vaugh not clear. It reads "...... modification in any form..........". Does this go for adding stickers to the frame...... since the glue of the stickers might eat the welding? At the end of the day I was hoping to see 2 things: 1) From giant a new front triangle falling that 2) From dragon sports at least some leeway -afterall it is my 5th Giant I bought..... customer loyalty? (Yes you did offer me a replacment part that was te wrong colour, wrong size, wrong year model and at Retail price.... R3500 for front triangle, R3500 for the back and lets say R3000 for the shock that gives you about R10000 for a new frame.
  11. At Ghost Face....... I beg to differ....... you tried to sell me a front triangle of an older moddel diffrent colour, wrong size for +R3500.00.... SHOCK ALSO excluded....... Yes I refused because I am not gona be ripped off! So guess what....... I am now riding a Morewood and will never ride a Giant again and will advice everybody to steer clear of the maestro range due to bad design...
  12. Yip had the same problem on the Giant Reign - crack in the same place........ Giant wasn't to interrested....... I think we should take our case up with Dragon Sports....... It seems that their "Maestro" range is keen to crack at the top tube seatpost connection.
  13. what about a loose headset.....resulting in excessive movment - vibration with large amplitudes........ resulting in the crack forming in he weakest point of the headtube?......... Still think the cup went before the frame.
  14. My Guess...... When the flanges was welded to the head tube it was done incorrectly (at that spot - wheer the crack started). I guess to much heat - due to "over welding" or the weld not done completely. The excess weld was then machined of / lack of weld was then covered under the paint. The crack then started at the poor welding spot due to forward and aft vibrations....... The frame cracked and then the headset cup... Or the headset cup cracked first due to poor quality / manufacturing / was the fork perhaps jammed and then force to turn - thus "opening" the cups and then cracking the frame at the above mentioned bad spot?
  15. Just don't confuse the two....... the crapper with the bike
  16. yip.........upside down - the bearings
  17. That Ibis is so wrong............

Thinking of about R23 000.00 for the complete bike - not willing to spilt the bike.......
  22. Better to clean / service it before it starts to rust........
  23. Well the water comes from the washing and or riding through water. Sound like your seals are gone....... I would agree with DH king.... rather go for a better fork if you can..... Otherwise service it - check for rust and replace the seals.....
  24. WTF is a power balance?
  25. .......some MTB races only start when the conditions are as in those pics!
