I have had XTR in the past and have Sram XO at the moment. I just find them less fiddly and more precise than XTR. They also need far less adjusting.

I just cannot believe that bar tape can be more comfortable than a set of good quality grips.

I would go for Sram XO rather than Shimano XTR.

Have Hayes El Camino on two of my bikes. I have had no problems at all. (over three years ols) Fantastic brakes. Maybe not all that light but still good.
