  1. I'm quite happy to put something incriminating here. Taun Bewsher aka Mountain Merchant is a fraudster. Not only here on the hub, check out 4x4 forums as he has done the same thing there. He has scammed me out of money by false advertising products and then refusing to honor what he committed to. Bring it on you crook
  2. Bark, bark, Ignore it. Too many people here have been scammed by him with evidence of it. You have nothing to worry about as these kinds o people always make lots of bluster to try and get people to leave them alone. Not a chance he will go through with anything.
  3. Same experience last week. It's a total joke I promised my kids we'd ride there and cannot believe what a disaster it was. The young girl collecting money was clueless as to the direction of the trails etc. Definitely won't be going back.
  4. That number has been the number for WSAR for many years, not sure what the previous number was. Clad to hear that you had a good experience Philip, we work hard to provide was I believe is a world class service in the Western Cape. I am a volunteer with WSAR and we do all sorts of mountain related rescues every year (over 220 operations last year alone) ranging from lost people, downed MTB riders, fallen climbers and injured or sick hikers.
  5. Nick from Bike Hub Hi Brent, Unfortunately, we suspect that the bikermouse848 account (banned in early April) is a notorious scammer named Taun Bewsher. He has had a number of accounts on Bike Hub over the years which we continue to ban once they are discovered. Here is an ongoing discussion about his scams in the bike tour sector:
  6. Oh this does sound like the same guy Hub advert did not say boost. We fixed the rim tape and then realized the wheels where boost.
  7. tell me more? I'm not aware of that
  8. I think the seller's name is Tawn. He sold a pair of roval wheels to my kid and did not specify they where boost, he also claimed the rim tape was in great nick. We looked at them closely after he left and they were boost and the rim tape was damaged. We made contact and he said he would resolve it but has not. We've offered to come to drop them at his place to no avail. We have made calls, whatsapp, telegram and direct on bike hub and now he has ghosted us. No luck. I would like to return the wheels and get the money back.
  9. Hi I found a Garmin item on table mountain on Tuesday the 8th (tonight) in the road near the cable station. Describe the product and I'll gladly return oh seven 2 5eight5 42nine4
  10. OK so my sis saw the thread and said I should post my latest project. I've done several guitars but this took something special. Gibson es 335 Trini Lopez semi hollow electric that sounds as good as it looks Many hours lots of learning to laminate and make a vacuum press to do it. Some mistakes experimenting with epoxies and glues. The neck and fingerboard and trim are raw wenge, super stable, hard and beautiful. the raw neck plays really nicely.
  11. I'd bet they will lose a lot of the shine. Anodising creates tiny pores in the surface of the anodising into which the dye goes if you want it coloured. Anodising tends to give a more satin finish. but maybe there is a way that I am not aware of
  12. probably heat treated aluminium machining inside to take various circlips that hold airspring and damper in place highly accurate grinding hard anodising casting/machining crown machining steerer tube press fitting all together dont even go there. It will cost you probably in excess of R15 000 to have them made up
  13. 100% was there yesterday to buy some stuff, super helpful and good pricing
  14. Contermanskloof on Thursday night heading for the Meerendal night ride
  15. I was really disappointed by the number of riders in $ that I saw turfing their gel wrappers on the road deliberately.

agree last years route was terrible. hopefully it improves somewhat. I see it will be @ la Bonheur instead any info? anyone?
  17. clear coat does not always work. I did this with a frame and got a mate in the auto industry to spray it with a high qaulity product used on BMW cars. there are some pinholes in the coating and with the amount I sweat it is now corroding terribly.
  18. RLS is a bitch. I tried supplements but with not much improvement. I've also tried to see if hard training/rest/diet or any other external thing affects it, and I cannot find a pattern. The only thing is if I ride late in the day it is definitely worse that night. It is hereditary as my dad, uncle and gran have it too I am on a med for Parkinson's called Pexola, the GP can prescribe it. As far as I know it is the same med Zola Budd takes as she has done a TV ad for it. It helps, but is not 100% effective. However if I don't take it I cannot sleep at all, I lie there like a twitching zombie all night. I am about to take some long overdue leave and I am hoping that some of it is stress related, will let you know
  19. its an artefact of the digital camera used to take the photo
  20. Bergbok, I was about to ask the same question. I suspect the gyro effect helps, but that it is very small compared to other effects such as steering etc. but if you jump off the bike, it must help to an extent
  21. not sure. But I have to replace my Shimano rings because they are worn out. I have a truvative set that I have ridden for easily 4 times longer and they are still fine.
  22. cheap sram/shimano who cares - sadly as much as I know they can save weight it's a throwaway item did I mention I am looking for cheap
  23. OK hubbers I'm looking for a new ten speed cassette after a very muddy day 2 on Sani2C mine is poked. Who out there in hub-land knows of the best price on a 11-34 cassette and chain? So far Easy bike looks like the cheapest.
  24. Lexx, the snake is an egg eater - may look scary and often they are very feisty but they have no teeth
  25. check these from evo bikes @ R125 http://www.evobikes.co.za/components/brakes/baradine-xtr-m985-organic-brake-pads.html
