  1. OK so I want to use two bottles on my anthem x frame. I have a cage under the down tube, but really don't want the crud on it, also I just don't like the location. So I want to mount a cage on the seatpost. I've seen that minoura does a mount, and there are a couple of other options, non of which seem particularly effective. Saddle based options are not good as it makes it impossible to head over the back of the saddle. I was wondering about drilling and tapping the two required holes in the seatpost. The rear of the post is in compression so stress cracking should not be an issue. And in all reality the two holes are pretty small and I only weigh 75kg. So what is the general consensus?
  2. saw him yesterday with a bandage around his leg...he looked OK tho
  3. pretty stuffed I am afraid. Due to lack of oil and ingress of dirt the stanchions anodizing has worn off....you'll still be able to ride them, but hey are on their last legs, because of that the seals are gone and more and more dirt will be getting in. new fork time

    mtb tyres

crossmark + mud = see your a$$ without a mirror great tires, but not in the mud. definitely go with the Nobby Nicks or as Techguy said the mountain kings.
  5. there are lots of posts...search the hub. of the local stuff I like the anatomic most...first ascent are terrible for my butt But really Girodana silverline - check chainreactionscycles for them...well priced and VERY comfortable
  6. well done!! you deserve a medal ! I would have beaten the crap out of him six-love for fifteen minutes and THEN called the cops. He'll be back there tomorrow. I'd have made sure he could not have been back there outside of a wheel chair for at least a year. my 2 cents...
  7. Mtbmom heading up the first part of the electric fence, the next part is tougher. pics don't do justice to gradient.
  8. hehe easy peasy - get strong seriously tho, fitness is part of the deal. The otherpart is technique. pedal smooth circles so the back wheel keeps traction. Keep your weight forward over the front wheel otherwise the wheel lifts and you exit stage left. With that fence a little bit of speed helps you keep your line...that needs some fitness I'm afraid!
  9. I got an sms yesterday abouts someone who had gone into a drain and then been hit from behind by truck. Lost his leg and was critical....wonder if it is the same person. Not sure of who the person is but wonder if it might be related?
  10. clearly you watch waaaaay to much TV
  11. whats your wife got against it?
  12. Mud Dee - use antifreeze, it evaporates much slower, you want a high ethylene glycol content. it's really cheap and should be better than H2O
  13. I often use a litle antifreeze with the OKO to make it a bit more runny. OKO does not dry like stans, but does loose liquid due to the slow seepage in the holes in the tire (the amount is small, but many holes over long time can mean some drying of the OKO) Interestingly I had the bike on the car on a dusty road the other day. Each hole because of the very slight seepage collected a bit of dust. I counted over 26 holes ini less than 1/4 of the tyre, the OKO is the shiz After Attakwas and some other rides in the Karoo I pulled out some pretty substantial thorns (2mm diameter buggers)..no issues! I vote OKO
  14. I called garmin sometime back because I was thinking of doing the same thing. there will be a R400 fee to even look at the device should it fail...
  15. it is when the bike shift mysteriously on its own. a skip and a jump. often to do with worn d?railleurs, sticky cables or dual suspension bikes.
  16. also got an x1 and also had occasional ghost shifting. Got x9 on and no problems SRAM has stiffer springs and seems to be better in that respect.
  17. actually mentioned you the other day..she did remember, even though it is a long time since we all rode together! will pass on the greeting
  18. trussel is mtbmom
  19. Wow..I leave the computer for two hours and there are this many replies! Don't drink beer unfortunately TNT, but I am feeling more relaxed now Seriously though obviously the system cannot check whether the picture is relevant or not, it would be helpful...smileys don't count as pics - they are embedded HTML. Fair enough photo editing software does let you choose resolution and that is not always indicative of final size, but for the most part 640x480 comes in under 100k It's seems though half the for sale ads don't have pictures and everyone berates the person, but no one really learns...next day same story with other hubbers?!? Anyhow enough chit-chat, have a good weekend hubbers
  20. OK so I don't know who runs this site, but I have an idea, that IMHO is a good one. Make it mandatory for a 'For Sale' posting to have a picture attached...ie. unless you actually load a picture of the item you cannot place the ad. <rant on> I am sick and tired of idiots who try to sell stuff with no picture. And even more sick and tired of people who are computer illiterate enough not to know how to resize a picture...USE GOOGLE YOU MORONS! <rant off> what you guys and gals think?
  21. how much you paying?
  22. Ok had to google because I do not know much about Buell bikes... holy cow! that thing must have the most amazing braking power with that size rotor....of course it has a marginally more powerful motor than my legs so the increase in weight should not be as much of an issue as on a bike
  23. larger disk stop better fro two reasons: 1. larger surface area means better cooling and you can work the brake more (give about 15% more surface) 2. The large diameter gives you a larger lever. For the same reason a long handles spanner can exert more force on a nut for the same force exerted by your hand. So the force of the pad on the disk is the same for all rotor sizes, but the bigger the diameter, the greater the leverage you have...
  24. edman I've seen the 500 and would love to get one. Have found a place in the US that has them on special....just I don't know anyone going over right now
  25. OK so I had borrowed a HRM and had to get it back so I want to get myself one. But seeing I am spending the money there are a couple of features that I would like. HRM speed altitude Optional niceties are PC download and route mapping. have looked at polar cs400 but there are just waaaaay too many reviews having problems with the speed sensors. Other option is the Gamrin edge 305 - nice, but pricey! I'd probably buy in the UK as I have a friend who heads there reguarly. One of the major concerns that I have is the warranty issues if soemthing goes wrong with a relatively pricey piece of kit. So.. recommendations pls.
