  1. Reach out to the speed merchants at Greg Minnaar Cycles, Im sure the Gents will be able to help or put you in contact with someone who can.
  2. Someone didnt read my post. well done Anyway. Good luck to the riders that made selection! HinHin!
  3. Go read the response I was replying to. The funding was referring to the "costs to CSA are just the stamp" which is false. for the most part, riders that go to WC and Olympics are self funded. thats not the issue here. The issue everyone is bleeting about is the lack of riders from the DH category. Which with all due respect to the speed merchants we have in SA, they arent at the level of WC riders. Why should CSA be expected to spread themselves thin for an opportunity for someone to say "I rode at WC"? I certainly didnt get that chance when I went overseas with the SA Team for road. It was down to the best riders who could get there. Simple. There is no Privateer category at World Champs... but there is one at the World Cup. I wonder if that is so the Privateers can have a chance to earn enough UCI points to be up for selection for the World Champs squad? Here is a small snippet from the requirements, let me know who of the riders in SA could achieve this, at the most competitive DH race of the year. 33.2.1. Riders meeting standards and results capable of achieving the following results at the 2024 UCI World Championships. 33.2.1.1. Elite Men – Top 15 33.2.1.2. Elite Women – Top 10 33.2.1.3. Junior Men – Top 20 33.2.1.4. Junior Women – Top 10 Anyway. im done with this thread
  4. I hate CSA and some of their policies and actions as much as the next person, but this isnt a case of beep boop boop and their work is done. WC is a big thing for CSA and they do all that they can to provide support for the riders, even with their limited budget. You know those declining road racing numbers? Well those CSA license fees would help fund the WC riders. Less of that, less WC riders that can be supported
  5. Get more UCI points then? Go to more World Cups and make it through qualifying? As Irvin said. this isnt "participation worlds". Its for the top ranked riders from each country in each category. Would you feel better if GM gave up his spot for Theo? Even though GM has the highest chance of a medal of all the DH riders in SA? The "It wont cost CSA anything more than the ink" statement is laughable.
  6. If you look at UCI points (It is a UCI World Champs event after all) Minnaar is 18th Kirk is 124th Garlicki is 128th Erlangsen is 154th Pottie is 158th XC is well represented IMO with all our heaviest hitters
  7. If in doubt, reach out to Dragon Sports and see if they keep spares (SA Distro for Giant) Reach out to the new DT Swiss agents (Aero Agencies) Or replace the spokes with a competitor like a Pillar Wing 21 (Orim Global)
  8. Some of the bolts are very specific to the Scalpel, especially the Linkage bolts and style of wedge system they use. You could remove the standard bolts (Like the ones holding your stem/bars on and bottle cage bolts) and have them anodized or replace them with a colored bolt kit from the likes of Wolftooth. The main linkage bolts I would rather buy new from Omnico then risk sending them away to be anodized or treated. There are some great products for corrosion prevention you can use on the new bolts to keep them looking lekker
  9. Big thumbs up from me for SGB
  10. Ive run Elite Fly bottles and Syncros side cages for years without losing a bottle. Only issue I have with the Syncros cages is they become sharp overtime and can sometimes puncture the bottle.
  11. I believe he hurt his problematic shoulder at Fort Bill. Hope to see the Giraffe shredding again soon!
  12. Lacing can be a biach sometimes, on a few occasions I wondered how the wheel isnt building only to realize I must have been blind while lacing to miss my mistake. Hope you come right!
  13. I have stuck all this data into the DT Swiss spoke calculator and it came up with this: Front: 293mm 292mm Rear: 289mm 290mm This looks closer to what you are needing as the front and rear are very close and only a few mm difference in length but cant be 100% sure the flanges etc are the correct size without measuring myself.
  14. Shaun-Nick is Nick Besters Son
  15. Impressive, over 450 people have purchased those Limited edition Roval SL Team wheels. CONsidering they are only making 400 for the worldwide market... thats quite the feat!
  16. Seems to boost Testosterone levels in Men https://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/what-is-menotropin-the-drug-that-has-landed-miguel-angel-lopez-with-a-four-year-doping-ban
  17. What brand of wheel? They may offer a "Crash Replacement" discount
  18. My favorite quote from our coach when we raced was "You think its hard hanging onto the breakaway? Imagine being in no mans land"
  19. Didnt know they made farm gates out of Carbon
  20. alrighty then. Much of the love and joy we get out of watching events, participating in events and seeing our heros dropping watts comes directly from Manufacturers efforts in the industry. Be it from revenue gain and reinvestment into the sport (Have a look at what Spez does for disadvantaged riders around the world) or from partnerships with other brands and event managers. This is often funded from profits of sales and extra campaigns from unused marketing budgets. If we would all like to go back to 2004 when there was barely any televised racing, Sponsored athletes and "good faith initiatives" then we can. Then you can have that super cheap bike with the fancy brand on the side. But that is not where we are. Sure, manufacturers could drop some margin, I don't doubt that. But at what cost to the general industry and all those that benefit off of the brands reputation and reach? My other main point regarding Support. We know how important a good Support Team is for a brand. We see major brands with infinite budgets unable to fulfill basic requests. Should they be visited with pitchforks because their prices are high but service is trash? No. You all keep purchasing their products. So why would they do anything to improve it? Many, many "High roller" brands offer exceptional support service, Why? Because you bloody paid for it. Warranties arent free and are worked into the manufacturing price.
  21. 😂 imma hold my tongue
  22. R&D Costs? Marketing? Support Staff? Sponsored Athletes? That money has to come from somewhere
  23. a 36T, maximum 38T just by looking at a pic of the bike. The lower chainstay and its "outward bow" is the limiting factor. A 0 offset chainring might allow you sneak a couple of extra teeth in there but will sacrifice a straight chain line to the cassette. increasing wear and reducing shifting performance. Best bet would be to take it to your LBS and have them test fit some different sizes. Not many would keep a blade of that size in stock though.
  24. in true Shimano fashion
