  1. Verrrry, verrry nice. But don't you okes in the Cape have someone who can paint the thing ? Call me, i know of a guy... ps. What tires are those ?
  2. I did a 200km Audax in Feb. They set off at a blistering pace and sped up after half way...
  3. Starting to get to the point where I am thinking, panicking about amount of training done....
  4. yes, I think so.
  5. Agree, serious waste of road-space, which is why i DO ride my bike in them. No ways would I ride anywhere else.
  6. You miss the point of the Ria Via system. Their routes make great bike lanes ! I take Commissioner, then I think it is Rissik up to Braamfontein and the civic centre and also down Empire as far as beyond RAU. Great surface with no traffic. Excellent !
  7. Any plans on getting someone back to Bloem ? Sounds interesting
  8. We have all listed our favourites, but what makes an ideal cycling coffee shop? I will start about what I look for in a (hypothetical) cycling coffee shop: It must be open and ready for business at 05h45. Enough staff to meet a rush, and machines up to pressure; It must have an excellent barista who understands grinds, tamping and brewing. They must use excellent and freshly roasted beans AND good quality water. In short, the espresso must be top notch; It should have a bike-rack outside with space to handle all comers; It should have sufficient sitting space. Tables and counters with more chairs than the tables demand. We want to sit 5 or 6 at a 4 seater table without having to beg chairs from adjoining tables; Seating should be available both outside - sunny in the early morning and shady thereafter and inside - warm (not hot) in winter and cool but not cold in summer; It must serve a good breakfast from 07h00 onwards with a small menu offering variety. Porridge or muesli with fruit and real yogurt. Eggs must be fresh, bacon crispy, good bread for toast (which must be served hot and crisply toasted without being burnt). A good Eggs Benedict with spinach and a dollop of Hollandaise sauce. Pancakes or waffles and real Maple syrup. A bag of oranges and grapefruit so you can have freshly squeezed juice. Breakfast must be available all day; Cakes must be professionally but not mass produced. The selection must go beyond Carrot cake and Cheesecake. Nice small biscuits to be available if you want a little snack. Must have good beer on tap. My favourites all have some, but none has all of the above. What do you want ?
  9. Croft is one of my favourites. Good place for a breakfast or other light meal too.
  10. Won't stop there again. I now stop at ************** where there is good and safe parking and I have a peaceful breakfast and a cold draught after my cradle ride. Edit: Removed the name so that it is not over run by Bidon refugees......
  11. Hack, forward slash, Bodge... (As Simon, Matt, Daniel and now Emma would say.....)
  12. I was thinking this morning as I fitted a light to my bike, how do you fit a light to the Aero bars for early morning training?

Actually, Why did we bat beyond lunch on day 2 ? By then we had scored more than 340, which is all they managed in two innings
  15. Thx. Is it worse on Southern side because the PA side is good, or because the south is bad ? At least the roed surface is not a factor when I am walikng
  16. On the pass or on the previous dirt section ?
  17. Unless they have fixed the road between de Rust and Cango, it will be verry rutted in parts.

I can understand guys cheating, guys crying, everybody apologising to their team mates, fellow Aussies, their government, their families for having got caught, but (unless I have missed it) I have not seen ONE apology from either the players, Cricket Australia officials or Aussie dignitaries to the South African team or public for detracting from the Protea win. If we win the series it will always be diminished by the behaviour and fallout of their actions. Nobody has had the grace to apologise.
  19. Good question and one I also faced. I did a Breedts test ride on both my 40c Clement MSOs and also on Schwalbe 35c Sammy Slicks to see which was faster. I am definitely running the wider tyres at a softer pressure. Any benefit I may get on the tar will be offset by the punishment I will take on the rough gravel. No question for me. But then again, I am old and fat and am riding a Niner RLT Steel which is rigid and HT. You may be different but I think that unless you are a racing snake going for the podium and don't plan on enjoying the day, go wider for a better ride. Your second question depends on whether you can ride a 12% gradient for a few km after riding for 150 kays. I have been up on a compact road crank (I think 36 small ring) and a 12-32 cassette, but I k@ked a bit and only started at the start of the pass. It certainly is doable.

They did not have time to come up with a better story before the press conference. Afterwards, they realised the implication and everybody toed the same line.......

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket/david-warner-at-heart-of-ball-tampering-scandal-20180326-p4z6d3.html Now this headline in the Sydney Morning Herald I find hard to believe. Surely not David Warner......

Other way round. According to a report in Aus, it seems that Vinnige Fanie who was doing the Afrikaans commentary, suspected something and told the camera men to keep an eye open. Once they Identified Bankrot as the culprit, they followed him around until they got all the evidence..... And the rest, as they say, is history.

Actually, retaining the shine IS allowed and it is a moot point whether he was sucking the sweet to enhance the retention or just because sucking a sweet is common on the cricket field. It is not even clear whether the gob even helped to retain the shine. Speeding up the deterioration of the ball is NOT allowed, rubbing it with any foreign object is not allowed, plotting as a team to go out there and do it is not allowed. Furthermore, getting the least experienced, most dispensable, least sure of his spot in the team, player to do the dirty work is morally reprehensible. Warning him that the umpires are on to him is plain crooked and him then lying to the umpires by hauling out his glasses bag, is the sign of a skelm who had set up his alibi in advance.
