You van run mechanical shifters and get cable to hydraulic converters so you can run hydraulic brakes. Hope and TRP both make these. I have used both and both work well. Hope are bigger but work slightly better. Running TRP now and it makes no sense to change.

I have a Niner RLT Steel, the frame of which I got from BikeMob in Cape Town and then I built it up with a Sram Red group-set and Hope wheels which I got from the UK. I then fitted TRP Cable to Hydraulic converters and run them Hydraulic.

And it is great that there is equal prize money for men and women.....;-) Those dog tags look great (insert thumbs up)

Of course I have, but then again I have never had to be restrained from attacking somebody because they referred to my partner's ex. The issue is not Mrs Warner or SBW, they seemed to have gotten on well (albeit briefly). Davey on the other hand seems a bit sensitive.

How is this for planning: The Aussie cricket team and their partners are staying in the same hotel in Cape Town as the Blues who are playing the Stormers on Saturday. I wonder if Davey and Mrs Warner will be taking all their meals in their room to avoid an unfortunate meeting with SBW over the breakfast buffet or in the lady's loo......

I think that this is an accurate observation. Not one of my regular cycling circle of friends/acquaintances went down this year whereas there would usually have been 5 or 6 of them. Reasons differ from, "too expensive a weekend and cannot justify it in the present economic situation", "not keen on being dirty for a whole weekend" or "maybe we should not put pressure on the water situation, there is always a next time". Mostly however, the first. It is a very expensive exercise and times are tough. Very tough for many.

No, I am more impressed by the guy sitting in the bunch along the blue route, showing everybody how he can ride without his hands on the bars. Lekker upright, drinking from his bottle. I am sure there are some who can do that safely, just not sure what he is doing in 2E.

Where do you see seedings ?

Because I only do races with full road closure which limits me to CTCT and 94.7, the latter I always do on my SS MTB. I will therefore never have "a decent seeding" but that does not stop me from competing against the course and aiming for a good time. This year I was "seeded" in 3c (re-seeded into 2E) and rode mostly by myself, staying out of trouble but never in a bunch (ie having a cyclist on both sides of me) for any length of time. I did a 3h13, more than happy with that as a fat old man pushing 60 who "races" once every three years.

And because we all had our name on our backs, a polite "on your left, Sally" or "passing on your right, Steve" works even better.

Big mistake I arrived at the stadium at 8h59 and the queue was about 200m long as they only were going to open the gates at 9. It is now 09h16 and I have gotten inside, had myself reseeded, collected my racepack and walked out through the expo. I could have saved myself 90 seconds by arriving two minutes later. Off to ride my bike now..

I think we need a song as well, maybe to the tune of Waltzing Matilda .....

I heard a voice note that suggests that The Aussies, and Warner in particular, kept referring to Quinton's surname and suggesting that he was one. Quinny apparently then told Warner that the only one Davey should be worried about is the one Sonny-Bill Williams slid up his wife's rear end....
