  1. Vettes, On each of the previous two races the guy rider I had been rooting for finished second. I don't want to put to much pressure on you, but I am cheering for you this year....
  2. Which of these names are Hubbers?
  3. Did it also require copious amounts of chamois cream to soothe the nether regions ?
  4. How do we see who entered ? Is there an entry list somewhere, maybe one of the entrants has one ?
  5. No problem on a road bike with gravel tyres. There is very little between Plett and Riversdale that I have not driven in a small Avis i10 and don't think that anything thereafter is as bad as Rooiberg pass which is incomparably better that for example Breedts. In fact, it is as good as the dirt road from Hekpoort to the bottom of the Breedts climb, and I have been up, over and back accross Rooiberg on 32mm Schwalbe Sammy Slicks.
  6. If it is the bike I am thinking of, I will have you know that it is a custom paint job
  7. All of the Harry Hole ones and two others that have been translated into the english. Some better than others and the Snowman has been made into a very bad movie.
  8. I know that there is always the logistical challenge of getting frames to and from Bogus, so I will put this out there. I am taking a bike down from Jo'burg to Cape Town for a Hubber next week and as I have to bring a bike box back with me, I thought I may as well offer to fill it with a frame if anyone needs one brought from CT.
  9. I put 30k on red and made it back in 30 seconds.......... .
  10. Yip, like that other psychopathic crook he is big on demanding his day in court, but not big on letting it happen....
  11. How good is the fork ?
  12. PM me when next you are up on the correct side of the Boerewors curtain....
  13. Yummmmmmmmm
  14. Right. Change of plan. A mate's wife is away for the weekend so it will be tomorrow. I got the butcher to cut me two X 800g steaks off this little baby....54 days dry aged.
  15. Ok, back to the topic. My vegan daughter heads back to University today and the two of us have for the last week cooked and baked dishes we could both eat. I did snack on biltong and put yogurt on my oats, but other than that I only ate vegetables, pulses, fruit and a vegan lemon drizzle cake....I actually enjoyed it. BUT As my wife is away, I am going past the Local Grill this afternoon and getting myself 600g of 40 day aged free range sirloin on the bone or similar 750g T-bone and will be braaing for one tonight. Baby potatoes, avo, a bottle of Mullineux Syrah followed by an Almond Magnum.....Yumm
  16. As for pictures of the son-in-law, cameras were not allowed into intensive care......
  17. Pure coincidence...... Well that's what I heard
  18. Hey, Shan Wilson, is this you ?
  19. Both for people who prefer peeing a lot to the taste beer..
  20. Fixed
  21. Exactly. Rule#5 HTFU = Heat That Fire Up. You can't braai if you made your fire too small and you run out of coals.
  22. Presies.
  23. The braai is so k@k (bad braai masjien, bad braai meat and bad braai technique), but anyone can see that but agree that it is good watch; like a how not to video. What is most distressing is that the dude goes inside to have a wee ! Isn't there a tree in this guy's garden .......
  24. There is no doubt that a large part of the battle is mental (how big I don't know but suspect that it is much more than half). Getting your mind used to doing unthinkable things is key. So use your situation to work in your favour. An hour of just riding on an IDT is mind numbing. Two is purgatory. Three takes real commitment. So do six. Get on the IDT and ride into the night. Have your dinner while turning your legs over. Read a story to your kids while riding, but keep riding until you have done what you had set out to do. Your butt will benefit and because it is so easy to stop, going all the way will train your mind more than it will train your body. Good luck Slowbee
  25. You are welcome not to enter and also welcome to start your own race to make some quick cash. I will use the event to get a very different experience of the Breedts ride and appreciate the effort the race organisers put in (which is a lot for a small if any return)
