  1. My team passed the Pure Savage race team! (In the neutral zone between Montagu and Ashton ) We had a lekka day out, conditions were great and we finished 12 strong.
  2. I'm going to be following the dot of my buddy Guy Jennings - he came 12th last year and is looking for a single digit medal this year.
  3. Max Menzies
  4. I saw this bike in the flesh at one of the mini Munga rides - it looks amazing!
  5. My buddy used one last year and will be again this year, but with more training on it. He didn't do enough training on it before the race last year, so wasn't able to use it as much as he wanted to. When we go for rides now, when he goes into the tuck position on the bars, he just pulls away from me. Same power intensity on the pedals, but with the aero he just goes. I have to up my intensity a lot to keep up, which is not easy after eight plus hours!
  6. You could also take the Baz Bus to Plett - it's a fairly long trip since they stop all the time to pick up and drop off people, but they can carry the bikes and then you don't have to worry about couriering your racks around. Why are you couriering clothes to various stops? If you're wanting to travel light, then just use one set of riding gear - wash it in the evenings and it'll be ready to go in the morning. Then just have a set of casual clothes for evening time. Simple. Getting additional clothes as you go along is surely just going to make you heavier as you go?
  7. You could go along the greenbelts (starts in Tokai) all the way up to Kirstenbosch and then on to the block house / table mountain. That's about all that's on your doorstep - anything else will need a bit of a drive.
  8. Easy to ride up to Tokai (over the weekend only) from there along the new cycle lanes up Tokai Road. That would be my number 1 suggestion.
  9. Not if you lean at the same time, like the Harley's have to do. I've ridden these kinds of box in the front bikes before and they're really not that bad. http://lockandlean.com/uploads/3/4/4/1/34417229/ben-tex_1_orig.jpg
  10. Such a good price!
  11. You're talking about rubbing when the chain is on the highest gear - that's an entirely different point. I'm simply talking about getting the chain length correct in the beginning by checking if it's touching the pulley wheels when the chain is at minimum tension. If the chain is too short then the RD over extends backwards and allows the chain to rub. To use Wannabe's earlier picture - look at where I've put the arrow, if it's rubbing there then the chain is too long.
  12. Tension bolts? Not sure what you mean. On a 1x system there is no need for the chain to be rubbing at all. If it is then it's too long.
  13. Sunrace. It has better ratios. It's what I use and it's perfect. The step on the Shimano is too big at the top.
  14. So you're then wanting to donate it to another hubber?
  15. What are you doing with your entry? Can you carry it over to next year?
  16. Aah no! That's terrible.
  17. I love riding 160mm suspension bikes down trails - it's loads of fun! You can just monster over everything in a way that an XC bike can't even dream about. On the flats, they're not too bad but obviously require a bit more effort. On the uphills they just suck. Stick it in granny and just grind away - there's no getting away from the fact that it's going to take you a while to get to the top and it'll take a lot of energy to do it. But if a pedal assist motor was added to this then it would be unstoppable! It could feel more like an XC bike going up hill and not be as tiring, and then going down I guess would be an advantage too with a bit more weight lower down. I could go for something like that.
  18. Slowbee you should come on the Mini Munga rides - I did the "8hr" one last week and it was great. Nice routes! Not hard to do, just keep the pedals turning. Everybody rides at their own pace so there should be someone around you. I didn't stop at the lunch point so finished quicker than most of the others. The scenery and mountains out there are great!
  19. Thanks Deon, good to read all of that, and I have seen the guys on the way up to the mast and that is definitely an improvement! Looking forward to the future!
  20. To help me get over this tragic loss of my yellow Tallboy, can you please give us some details of plans for Tokai with the new funds? That would help...
  21. This really is a great competition. I've spent hours and hours looking up SC's reading many many reviews on most of the models and watching them on YouTube too. So from a brand awareness / marketing point of view I'd say objective achieved! Tokai is obviously going to benefit massively too and I really look forward to seeing that! Great competition!
  22. This makes me excited for Tokai!
  23. I rode Tokai on Saturday for the first time in a while and noticed a few changes - felt good to know that my entry into this competition may have helped those along, and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes out of this initiative. I've just increased my chances too!
