  1. That's going to be wild!
  2. I see Ruyterplaats Estate has been mentioned a few times - are we allowed to cycle through there? I've ended up at the (I guess) service entrance / emergency exit lower down a few times and thought about how nice it would be to be able to ride up to the main entrance, but didn't know it was possible.
  3. I had one of those for a while - its what I learnt to do long rolling stoppies on. Could pop it onto the front wheel and easily balance it there for ages pulling up to red lights or stop streets. It's a skill I never managed to translate to any other bike, I guess just because it was so light and I could manipulate it with my body positioning more than just the brake power. I'll never forget the feeling of riding in the yellow line going up Ou Kaapse because the engine was so pap watching my friends on their 125's riding off into the distance, only for me to catch them down the other side where I could just pin it around every corner. I really do miss using a bike to its maximum potential - its far harder to do that with bigger bikes.

Julian retired a few years ago. Keith has retired now (last year was his last). I'll miss his commentary.
  5. Is it just Jonkers that burnt? There was some talk about the Eden trails and G-Spot - did the fires make their way there too?
  6. I bought a bike for my wife last week (from the other side of the country) and used BikeHub Pay to facilitate the payment. I did my homework on the seller before doing the deal, so knew who he was, where he worked, where he lived, etc and after communicating with him for a while I would have been happy to pay over the funds via EFT anyway, but it was actually really nice having the security of BikeHub Pay - I didn't need to worry about anything and it felt like I had some control when the bike arrived as well (being able to check out its condition and take it for a quick ride to confirm) before confirming everything and completing the deal. And to not pay any fees as a buyer is great! For me this worked really well and I'll be happy to use the system again.
  7. Has the Mrs not fired it up and sent you a video clip of it yet?

Hope they get a better start tomorrow. The last four have been terrible, and then they've just been blocked in all race, or left for dead. Luna Rossa seem to be a lot better in the lighter winds too. It's also less exciting to watch with lighter winds, except for the speed. 34kts in 8kts of breeze is outstanding!
  9. You've obviously not ridden one of these before. An hour long ride is an endurance event on the plank seat But that hour is amazing! Such characterful bikes. Congrats Spokey!
  10. I saw a red one parked up next to an Africa Twin the other day. I was surprised to see that they were pretty much the same size. Very much of want.
  11. From my point of view personally, I mainly come here for a few of the off topic threads: Aviation fans - I love that there are pilots and aircraft engineers on this thread and I always find their insights fascinating. There's just enough here to keep me entertained and not overloaded as I would be if I went somewhere like AvCom. Are motorcycles allowed - I love motorbikes, so really enjoy seeing what other members are riding or thinking about riding, or trips that they're going on. MotoGP - my favourite sport to watch These are my staples. There are a few others that I keep up to date with, but these are my main ones. While I'm here looking at these, there will undoubtedly be some other threads in the regular section which will catch my attention and I'll go and read those and add input if I have something to add, but I'm not coming to BikeHub to look at those. If the non cycling sections weren't here I'd for sure not be here as much. Yes according to the data, numbers and which pages I'm looking at it will appear as though I spend more time looking at the on topic threads, but in reality I wouldn't have been there at all if it weren't for the off topic ones bringing me here in the first place.
  12. Guy Jenning's tracker isn't working. The one person I want to dot watch and I can't....
  13. Guy Jennings (a multiple top 10 Munga finisher) is riding again this year, but when he gets to the finish line he's turning around straight away and riding back to the start. All to raise funds towards building a pump track for disadvantaged kids through #pumpforpeace. Head over to https://www.backabuddy.co.za/champion/project/munga-there-and-back if you'd like to donate.

Do you believe the tainted steak story? With no evidence or anything to back it up? You must also be a Trump supporter
  15. You can pay someone directly with PayPal, or a payment request can be sent. Think of it as an invoice being sent out which can be paid directly. That part of it doesn't necessarily mean that its a scam. The rest of it though...
  16. That's me. Looking forward to tonight
  17. Except that there's now a warning sign literately everywhere... I can't go for a ride anywhere without seeing a sign about crime and to not ride alone, etc.
  18. Getting side tracked here, but one of the hitch hikers was murdered last year and the other didn't show up for her day in court to testify against the two guys, so they were released. When I read that I really had to question what the point of anything is anymore - police, judicial system, crime and punishment... After getting caught red handed for murder these guys are walking free. I mean WTAF. And I live just around the corner, so all of this is fantastic....
  19. This is the first I'm seeing about the R1000. Didn't know anything about that. At the end I was fan viewing the front guys watching them dice for the line. When I came back I saw that I was closer to you than I was before, but I thought to myself "seventh or eighth, who cares" and I saved some legs for my next ride. Maybe I should have been more focused and pushing, but I was happy with top 10 anyway.
  20. You finished just in front of me - I was 8th. Those front two were pushing mega watts the whole way. I could only sustain that pace for about a kilometer
  21. Did anyone else do the Zwift ride yesterday? The 'no draft' was unexpected and I wish I hadn't slowed down in the beginning to let the chasing group catch up to me. They provided no help at all After that it was a solo run through to the end. Good little workout for the legs.
  22. Ooh, two up on a tandem on the trainer! That's something I've not thought of before. Would be interesting to see the final drive power.

Did you see how the team were celebrating in the garage when Olivera crossed the line in first?! They must have had the biggest party on Sunday. Felt so happy for the team to finally get he win, and Herve seems like such a good guy

I was on the fence about Zarco's incident last week, but after the BT Sport explanation I feel sorry for him, especially with how well he rode during qualifying. And that delayed start for him was really not called for. Bad enough starting from the back of the grid... I can't even comprehend jumping off a bike moving at 235km/h What a season it's been so far! The championship is wide open
