  1. now that we have mentioned everything in the garage we can start repeating the best suggestions, or start a poll. My vote goes to "speed devil"-mr min works well and you end up spraying the entire bike and polish it as well. many of us wont have to remove stickers because the wind blew them off with the clear coat crackajack2009-03-09 23:53:59
  2. good luck in your pursuit of this noble cause. glad u r ok
  3. go stans.although the start-up kit is pricey you get a bottle of fluid for refills. no problems for the next year. best thing since the shock

    Saddles?

fizik arione is regarded as one of the most liked saddles around. Have a white one if you like, used twice. be careful about buying used saddles as they reshape to other peoples shapes. all i can say is "been there done that"-oh yes when u find a saddle that works buy 2 of them as they might stop producing them. generally look at the fizik, selle italia and specialized body geometry ranges and be prepared to spend around 2K
  5. Get one of those lights that clamp on the seatpost. The light itself is removable so you don't need to leave it on( but useful for the early morning rides). The fix is cheap(around R80), won't damage the post and it's light(as opposed to heavy-not see in the dark light). The clamp will rest on the frame clamp, preventing further slipping. worked for me good luck
  6. bugger. happy to send you the adaptor anyway to see if it works. if not you can just return it. i am in cape town. when you say it doesn't fit, what specifically do you mean?
  7. i have the appropriate adaptor. the problem is that you need to use a 170mm disk(assuming that u r currently running 160mm rotors). If you are using a 6bolt hub i can help with the 170mm rotor.pm me a contact number and i will assist. cheers steve
  8. ah.ha!..stop-erasure ...and presto...50 posts crackajack2009-01-18 06:55:08
  9. clearly still not over...can't stop-maroon 5
  10. no...wait...that's a mistake...it's not over yet-the klaxons
  11. honest mistake-the bravery
  12. As MINIMUM you want it to go below the bottom of the top tube weld (usually around 6cm).However, don't forget to see the minimum insert level on the post itself. Try not push the limits on this as it puts extreme stress on the frame. Cheers, steve
  13. I know how it feels-had a vasectomy last year-still traumatised!!!
  14. Thanks JB, sorry about the incorrect terminology. The response makes perfect sense. I think i can handle 6.6%, just as long as i dont fall while trying to read the newspaper and ride simultameously.( i have seen somebody doing this)
  15. Interesting! I thought that with a shorter wheelbase it might be more twitchy thanks
  16. I have just replaced the front fork on my road bike. The manufacturer recommends a fork rake of 43mm, the fork i bought has a rake of 40mm. How adversely will this affect the handling if at all?
  17. use the + - adjuster to set the spring in the - position(turn until it stops). This will allow you to get out a little easier. Practice with one foot on the couch before you go out for a ride. good luck P.s. remember that it is like driving a car, it might seem impossible at first but you will find is becomes easy.
  18. a friend rode there a couple of weeks ago and he saw some small rocks come down...maybe fighting about it is not the best route to take
  19. regardless of the year it is a great buy. the zaskar frame is excellent.you could pay as much as R1500 for a frame alone. I have ridden a few zaskars over the years so i speak from personal experience. p.s. a great buy can be a bad buy if the bike doesn't fit properly, so make sure the size is right.(give us an idea of your height and we can try guide you) good luck with the buy!
  20. 6 various bikes: monday bike tuesday bike wednesday bike thursday bike friday bike saturday bike I run on sundays
  21. my mommy she had to put up with me
  22. Unless u r sponsored carbon should be avoided on the mountain.I have seen many carbon frames with major damage caused by minor falls. Your weight saving can be as much a 500grams over light alu, but is it worth it? On the upside there are many guys repairing carbon frames, but i personally wouldn't like to ride a "patch job" bike...good luck with the decision rocks vs carbon=rocks every time
  23. wow!!! Sometimes i drink a wine and i really like it.If you asked me to identify all the characteristics of that wine I probably wouldn't be able to, however, that doesn't change the fact that i like the wine anyway. I have owned, ridden and tested in excess of 100 bicycles over the years, including numerous ti bikes(ht,st and road).Currently i have a number of road bikes including a merlin extralight titanium. In the area in which i live the roads are ordinary, at best, and there is a pronounced amount of vibration/road buzz( excuse the lack of a more scientific terminology).I feel far less vibration on the merlin than on my cannondale system six and therefore some people might think "soft"which is admitedly not the best description as the bike feels anything but soft. It's just more comfy. This advantageous characteristic of ti, hovever, is limited to road riding( in my opinion).I have had a number of ti mtb's and, in truth, they are no better than a high end aluminium frame i.t.o. RIDE QUALITY. i hope that answers the original question which relates to the ride quality of ti crackajack2009-01-10 02:18:11
  24. I agree. Have sold a number of these and every set has come back with a noisy front hub, which mavic duly replaced. Unfortunately those poor guys wont get the free aksiums...actually who would want aksiums anyway. p.s. stop critisising the beautiful c'dale.Cant you see the car in the background did the damage
  25. p70 i agree, wear whatever you like.Anyway i love passing "team riders" as it makes me feel really fast. P.s.i wear black-it just matches my bike crackajack2009-01-08 03:00:30
