  1. Try looking on e-bay (www.ebay.com). That is the only place they can still be found....good luck
  2. Alot less bumping going on Unfortunately the good stuff disappears with the bad. Personally, I liked the idea of bumping my ads up every 2 hours for 4 months I posted something on gumtree recently and within 2 days it was on page 10! The only way to promote your ad is to pay..only R15...but...hmm..if it doesn't sell within 2 days...is not going to be found
  3. Ya. agree. I have been using polars for around 10 years now. So probably battery in chest strap(receiver). I think it is a CR2025 or 2032. They cost around R12.00 at any chemist or photo shop. The hubbber who spent R60 at SW was shafted. They are completely user replaceable. BTW if it is not the receiver battery the wearlink strap may be faulty. They only last about 2 years and cost around R250.00 to replace. If you replace the strap you do not need to replace the receiver as well. good luck. I hope you get your beat back.
  4. A couple of weeks ago i saw a gut driving his bakkie. Cellphone in one hand cigarette in other hand and he was steering using his legs!!!! That's why i stick to gravel when i cycle. Being a motorcyclist i have had my fair share of incidences where people talking on their phones just don't see you. I agree that penalties should be harsher...much harsher
  5. do what everybody else does when they want to ride better...buy a new and more expensive bike. It's the South African way
  6. The poor guy who forgot to lock up his bike on the corner of Long and strand street last week

    rocket ron

I agree. Very light, but after 2 weeks of use i started noticing considerable wear. I used the non UST foldable. The one sealed but the other didn't. It takes time to fill all the micro holes in the sidewalls. they roll really fast though. Moved to crossmark non UST foldable- seal better, grip better, wear better, less expensive and only slightly heavier...no comparison
  8. Errr....or buy another set...
  9. I don't know a Volcan... but I do know a Volcano...she is a steamy Italian temptress though
  10. wow that is good value. I have been riding these for about 2 years. I need replacing soon. Unfortunately i am in Cape Town so i will have to speak to a local Spez dealer. These are way better than olympics..
  11. xc7000...what a chop.. around new year pm'd me interested in buying an item i was selling. He confirmed he was taking it and subsequently disappeared. Sorry i don't have any information to add. Whoever is going out to kick his butt please throw in an extra klap from me. thanks
  12. Argus 2010. bonked at ocean view. Hadn't happened before. I think riding too hard in the wind was a problem. But i think the real issue was a psychological issue. I trained really hard and felt i was capable of doing my first sub3, once i reached ocean view way behind my predicted time, the disappointment set in and i was promply devoid of all energy. It was a struggle to the finish some 30 minitus behind my target. As a result of this difficult ride and the absolute disappointment i stopped road riding and only spend time on the trails...now when i bonk at least there is usually a great view to lift the spirits and get me to the finish.
  13. interested. How long will you guys ride for and what route? was planning
  14. I WOULD TAKE IT OFF WHEN IT STARTS TO SMELL FUNKY....OR WHEN I START BLEEDING FROM THE EARS...THAT IS USUALLY A GOOD INDICATION THEY HAVE BEEN WORN TOO LONG.
  15. Also consider the sram PG980. It is cheaper and it weighs the same as the PG990!!!! Seriously, i weighed them. The Pg 980 is really the XT equivalent. Both the 980 and 990 are slightly heavier than the XT. durability is roughly the same. use it, don't use it.
  16. When you are a seller everything is brand new. When you are a buyer nothing is brand new.
  17. It is encouraging to see so many cyclists donating blood. WPBTS have an interesting policy regarding athletes.I have been donating for around 10 years. Around two years ago the sister on duty asked what sporting event i was training for. I replied that i don't train for anything specific but rather participate in regular running and cycling training programs. She refused to take my blood unless i signed an indemnity form. I am certain that many cyclists out there who donate would be prohibited from doing so if the Blood transfusion services really knew what you were doing with regards to training. Regardless of the protests i still regularly donate. As regards the topic, Edam is right (pretty much-i not doctor) this was confirmed to me a while ago while investigating the issue
  18. guarantee relates to the performance of the seller warranty relates to the performance of the product What we are talking about is a lifetime warranty A couple of manufacturers offered lifetime warranties. Almost all have stopped. If he has his original invoice he should have no trouble with his claim. The manufacturer cannot unilaterally change the terms of the warranty. If he doesn't have the original invoice, however, he will not have a claim. NB read the terms and conditions of the warranty agreement carefully!!
  19. i dont want to start a witch hunt here but.... when i was riding from nitida back to durbanville on Saurday afternoon i saw a guy coming out of one of the properties near the vinyards ( where the farm workers live) carrying a wooden pick axe handle covered in blue tape. Not sure if this was the same "weapon" used in these attacks. If somebody can get a description of the weapon used the police may follow up. Does anyone know at which police station the charge was laid? On this note, i am going to avoid riding MF on my own and will rather go to meerendal.
  20. oops!!!! my bad I knew i shouldn't have pressed that button or loaded that photo
  21. I INSTALLED A RIVAL CRANKSET LAST WEEK. SAME PROBLEM. REMOVED CRANK APPLIED A LITTLE GREASE TO THE SHAFT. RE-INSTALLED IT AND ....HEY PRESTO PERFECT!
  22. I am hearing more and more issues about litespeed and warranties. In the past litespeed would stand behind their product no questions asked. Now it seems that they ask questions until they don't have to replace. I think the tough economic climate is making these guys re-evaluate their position regarding warranties.Pity because these are great bikes
  23. You lost me at E
  24. A posting like this isn't going to go further your philosophy of "building relationships". maybe your company should learn to do business on a cod basis and then you wouldn't have to name and shame on this forum. I have purchased from blackie and he is a decent person who does a lot of good work for the new balance multisport club. welcome to the recession
  25. pratley make a product called wonderfix(comes in black or clear) u mix two parts together and it hardens into a flexible epoxy. i have repaired many ust tires with it and it works perfectly. around r30 for the box at any hardware store
