  1. So here is the story: I discovered on the weekend that my 3 month old Easton wheelset was rubbing on the back brake when I cornered i.e. the rear wheel is flexing when at an angle, causing the brake to rub. So I called up the shop where I bought the wheels from (not my Local) and the woman on the phone immediately said it must be my fault as I have must have hit a pothole or something. They said I can bring it in for them to fix. So this morning I took the wheel into the local, who had a look, asked some questions and promptly got on the phone to omnico who said they must send the wheel in to be repaired. My local then also lent me a rear wheel, although very heavy and nowhere near my eastons, the gesture was there as they wanted to ensure that I could keep training. Plus they moved the cassette and tyre/tube to said wheel. Now, if there was ever doubt as to why you should support your LBS, let this be a lesson - your LBS will look after you and building up the relationship is worth more than the saving made going somewhere else! BTW - I didn't buy the wheels at the other shop based on price - they were the only shop that had stock and I needed to purchase asap.
  2. If I'm not mistaken, both Rennies and Enos contain CaCO3 (can think of the normal name now) which is the ingredient which neutralizes stomach acid (and makes you burp). So if I'm correct, perhaps there is some truth to taking supplements to stop cramping - Enos/Rennies just have a large dose of Calcium and make it readily available
  3. I remember hearing that Mikes Bikes in greenside had a ladies ride on Sat mornings. Anyone know if it still happens? And before the cheap shots come out, no its not for me. Got to get the GF into group rides.
  4. Bruce, I had my girlfriend in stiches this weekend, with watching me trying to get these damn leggings on, then she showed my how she puts her stockings on and presto - problem solved.
  5. ok, so the next time you see Bruce flying past you with a flashy new set of wheels or bragging to us about his new power toy - just remember that I helped fund said toy/wheel set! Yip, bought myself a pair of BSC Kompressorz over the weekend. After some extended use, I'll provide a report back.
  6. Thanks Bruce, I'll drop you a line. I know there's been some discussion on these in the past, just no one has actually done a comparison between the available brands. I'm trying to determine if the BSC can actually command a price premium over the other two.
  7. OK, so I'm looking at getting some form of compression garment (longs): BSCKompressorz, Linebreak or Rocket compression Has anyone got some advice to offer or tried them and got some comments?
  8. Some feedback on this - I bought the Nike Pro Compression Skully from Nike concept store (R160) and it works really well, better than the buff I've been using. I used it for rides on Fri, sat and Sun and even with the sweltering heat in PTA on sunday, it kept the sweat out of my eyes and kept my head cool. I'm going to try contact under armour about there's as well, so I dont have to wash one every day.
  9. where? how much?
  10. My previous headoffice was in USA and I bought them whilst on a trip overseas. They are light' date= absorb and wick sweat and best of all my bald patch does not get burnt. I will try and find out how far Anatomic have gone with their design. I still have contacts with people who go to my old head office if you desperately want some.[/quote] Thanks I Fly, I'll let you know. The Nike one looks pretty similar, so I'm going to head off and get one of those first.
  11. Where did you get yours from Ifly? - I thought I saw a whole stack of Under armour apparel at Total Sports in sandton the other day?
  12. NEW NIKE MENS BLACK BEANIE HAT SKULLY CAP http://i22.ebayimg.com/07/i/000/9d/5f/8a40_1.JPG Anyone tried one of these?
  13. Wont that just make the sweat run more?
  14. What do you use under your helmet for keeping your head cool/wicking away sweat. I've got a buff, but I'm looking for something with less material. Any ideas?
  15. tyger have a look on gumtree.co.za for a johannesburg based scott think it was the s20, going for R6k found it here http://johannesburg.gumtree.co.za/johannesburg/80/12721780.htmlwonduhboy2007-08-28 09:54:37
  16. my big question is: if this method is so efficient, why are so many cyclists still using cytomax/usn/energy dynamics etc?
  17. A friend of mine's coach has suggested she replace her energy drink (and gels) with normal (100% i.e. no apple or other kind of juice) orange juice/diluted. His reasoning being that normal energy drinks/gels cause blood sugar spikes (and thus drops) while OJ, being low in GI provides consistent blood sugar/glucose levels. So, any of the experts out there got any comments on this?
  18. also, could still possibly be some residue from a motorbiker who came off on sunday. on the hill just before the left turn onto the road that the "fat olive' is - this is on the way back to cedar road.
  19. anyone got the final times for the categories?
  20. Hi bee, looked at a couple of places and they all seem to be at R1499. I was under the impression that polar stipluated prices on their products, so no one would be cheaper - maybe they increased the prices? What do you think of the watch?
  21. Thanks frosty - this is what made me think of the t3 as you can add a cycling pod at a later stage (for +- R700!!!) but then may as well look at 725/720 etc
