    Shoes

also remember that with some shoes the positiong holes for the cleats are slightly different. This could affect the cleat engages the pedal and where your foot falls over the pedal axle (the old plumb-line rule) Unless you're pretty clued up/experienced I'd get a pro to have a look at your set up, especially with the height of your cleat now different - could affect saddle position and height. 2. what about the stifness that carbon is supposed to offer vs ali? Is it that much of a difference?
  3. Anyone got any (relevant) opinions And yes, it's 13th cheque time...
  4. I also use hellopeter.com a lot and get some good responses from it. One thing to bear in mind though, is that to become a 'company that responds', you have to pay a fee. I have also heard that this 'fee' can be anything that Peter Cheales wants it to be. So just remember that when complaining on this site.
  5. also www.bikebay.co.za
  6. Jedi, I did a lot of research into this a while ago and found this: Rollers are cool, but require balance and concetration all the time (not good for me - I would most probably purchase a rather large piece of my coffee table if I rode on these all the time) Trainers work very well, but make sure you get magnetic resistance, not wind as this is quieter. Also nicer than rollers because you can set the resistance level and combined with gears, gives you a decent workout. Get a continental indoor trainer tyre (+-R250) will work for ages and save your other tyres. As for brand/make - this is personal and limited by budget - good one's I can recommend are the cycleops fluid 2 (contact bikemax for pricing) and the tacx ones are also nice. On the bottom end of the budget, the giant magnotron is R850+- and works well. Do yourself a favour and get a sweat-catcher and floor block (raises your front wheel) as well - worth the extra cost (+- R150)
  7. Another thing this could be is acid reflux - A mate of mine suffers from it. Basically the bacteria in your stomach cant handle all the acid you are eating (because we are all taking anti-ulcer, to get rid of ulcers, which is killing the bacteria that stops this acid reflux) So when you eat acid rich foods (coffee, beer, spicy food etc.) the acid in your stomach moves up through your throat, setting it on fire. So you can either steer clear of things that aggravate it, or take medication (R500/month) Supposedly, this is happening more and more, because of our diets and taking stuff for ulcers - vicious circle!
  8. no problem - you would just have to provide me with accommodation as well - mrs. dr. seuss will throw me out the house faster than boonen can sprint if i so much as look at another bike!!!! No problem, I've got plenty space inside for all the bikes, although we'll have to camp in the garage
  9. DR S - if you are getting a new bike, I shotgun first dibs on either your Soloist or R3!
  10. Either of them perform better with heavier riders?
  11. Need new racing tyres What say everyone?
  12. does it work for the chain slipping either way - i.e. big blade and small blade?
  13. Thanks Spidey!- What are they priced at?
  14. Tried out the Santini's this weekend on a 90km krugersdorp loop and I must say they were super comfy - absolutley no pain in the nether regions. I am only comparing them to Anatomic and velotex bibs, but I was pretty impressed. I was worried they would be a bit thick/hot but even at 30degrees, I never felt uncomfortable. Anybody looking at new shorts - call Tony Impey now and get a pair of these - they are the dog's balls!
  15. or hiding a bottle of JW Black, no one will bother looking in a silver tin with santini all over it.
  16. Finally decided to get the twist gel - R670 from Tony Impey. Will try them out this weekend and report back on monday. BTW - All other shorts that I've ever seen come in a normal plastic bag or none at all, these guys came in a silver metal box (just like a bottle of JW black) pretty classy!
  17. ok, back to this: Santini Twist gel are R670 at Tony Impey cycles, but Cape storm have the matrix bib for R530 - which one should I go for - anyone got opinions? BTW - Cyclelab have the twistgel for R1113
  18. Saw a couple of guys riding in these this weekend. Any comments from people here? Anyone know where we can get them? price?
  19. So has anyone used these wheels before - comments?
  20. Morne Bester Cycles in PTA had them on a special some time ago. Give them a shout @ 012 347 8660 Just called them - the guy I spoke to (albeit he didn't sound too sure) said they are ordering stock and that they retail for R1k per set.
  21. anyone know what they retail for - or am I just missing it on the website?
  22. why not take this one step further and make it a "real" amnesty period - who is willing to also confess to: 1 - You've taken Performance enhancing drugs, but not now 2 - You are currently taking 3- You're totally clean. Morgan Williams 1 May 1983 Club100 Totally Clean
  23. I had a set of 550's, stock on my bike. No one ever told me they have a weight limit of 86kg's!!!! They also constantly needed truing and bent as soon as I pushed hard. Never really had anything to compare them to, but my LBS (not where I bought the bike from) replaced them with Bontrager Selects which have been pretty good so far. Not sure how much joy you'll get from cool heat - let us know.
  24. Anyone know if you can stick you Polar HRM speed sensor on your back wheel and still get reliable readings?
