Ok Bruce - I put my hand up as the guinea pig - I'll be willing to try out all 3 types (sponsored by the manufacturers) and will come out with an objective report on effectiveness and value for money. I know it's a lot to sacrifice on my side, but someone has to do the hard work once in a while...

Thanks Marco. I'm also looking for a objective comparison between the various types - are the BSC one's "R500 better" than the linebreak or Rocket types?

Snapshot, how much are these pants? I know linebreak are about R500 and BSC are R940

Maybe the hub can redeem itself and help me out with this: I currently ride on Look PP 296's, but my new bike comes with Shimano Dura aces - so... are the shimano's any good? how good? any problems? Any (valid) comments are welcome.

anyone else think it strange that the Puerto affair seems to raise its head before another Grand Tour? They had more than 9 months to sort out the mess/incrimnate people/find people guilty, but it has taken this long, and now on the eve of a grand tour (again) they seem to have found out more??? I think they also come in handy in winter: Helps to move sweat away from your body so you dont get cold, at least this is how I feel. Haven't really used one in summer, just try to keep as cool as possible by unzipping my shirt

Steynja, if I can jump in here: I also had a set of 550's and was continually taking them in to be trued. I subsequently found out that they have a weight limit of 86kgs, which was below my weight. Basically, I was "pulling" them out of true (technical word???) every time I rode. Not sure if this effects you at all, but is nice to know. I'm also sure that they are great wheels, if you can fit the weight category.

Bored girl, I went to see Arran and he set up my road bike for me. Since then I have no pain (apart from dying up hills) when on the bike. He also made some big changes to my set up and I can honestly say it helped. What was even more amazin was that before he set me up, he asked me if I had pain in specific parts of my body (and he was spot-on) just by looking at my original set up vs my body.

I'm keen - just need to see if I'll get my bike back before the weekend (currently in the LBS) Will be able to confirm tmrw.

Was also thinking Northern Farm, maybe about 2 hrs. Just getting back into MTBing, so need to find my technical skills

Hey DS I got the Arione after having a SI Oktavia - made a huge difference in ride comfort (but only after a while) I had to decrease my saddle height because the arione is a little less flexible/soft. Also note that the arione is longer than most other saddles, so you have more seating options, but at the same time you could take a while to get the right position. This only depends on where you sit on the saddle. I had my set up done by Arran Brown who got it spot-on in no time, as well as making some other changes to my positioning. He also sells Fiziks, so he's very clued up about the difference between the two as well as setting them up properly.
