  1. Bushido. I have had superb service from Coolheat on my i-Magic and that has not been often. Upgraded to V4 software and its lives on better than ever at its 12th anniversary. The BUshido in i-genius form looks very appealling too
  2. which year model Scalpel did you convert?
  3. 650b. they handle better, and are generally lighter at the price point
  4. How on earth did you bend the front axle??? Are you sure its bent? If it is then how do you get the wheel on? The Lefty axle is part of the lower leg. If its a previous version before OPI then its part of the lower leg section but even so its still a 20mm forged axle. IF its bent the wheel will not seat. Please post pics because it sounds to me like you're being fed BS by someone
  5. comes down to price. I thnk currently Shimano's hand over to the teams is lowest of all.
  6. What is needed is an NPO similar to TokaiMTB. The moment profit making and charitable entities are mixed in thesame books by the same accountant the door is opened for good old South African Corruption.
  7. Spot on Dick and now Behan is muscling in on the marketing in an anti competitive manner. Where were those complaint to competitions commission forms again..??? I think someone needs to be taught a lesson. Seems they are incapable of learning or simply don/t give a phq
  8. "10) Scott not being asked to contribute. On Monday May 19 I personally reached out to Joggie (I believe marketing manager at Scott). I personally don't know anyone else at Scott. After playing some phone-tag we finally spoke on Wednesday May 21. I explained the situation to Joggie. He was not aware of the amount of personal time we had put in. I challenged Joggie to make Jonkershoek a brand free zone and match Specialized cent for cent on contributions. He said that the reasoning behind supporting The Cafe was as a marketing move V Specialized. We totally get that. I requested that we all work together Specialized / Scott / other brands / all riders. His stance at that point was to continue as is. " So two cycling wholesalers get together to discuss cooperation on a marketing initiative. Seem you phuqwits haven't learned a damn thing from your last meetings with the competition commission. Or is it just your cultja...?
  9. BS They have no right to be displeased since they don't own the trails, or the coffee shop. Sems like they expect a following because they wrote off some taxes through a donation....
  10. Subsequent actions have proven that the gesture was not sincere but a publicity stunt for damage limitation.
  11. K*k Specialised ambush marketing. Try harder next time. PS: Just another reason not to buy your BS product
  12. Personal experience and general industry opinion. The Shimano front derailleurs and shifter works together far more harmoniously than any of the others. SRAM have built some beefy mechs for the front but they have nver captured Shimano's smooth and trouble free operation under all conditions
  13. MSDS?
  14. I weigh about the same as you and have ridden Lefty's since 2001. I've never bent a front wheel even when I used Stan's first No Tubes rims that were super light weight and pretty flexible. Never. To bend wheels with the kind of frequency you are implies something is different. You ride 29er, I ride 26er. 29 wheels are notoriously weaker than 26. Thats why they're more comfortable. They flex more. If you're exceeding the abilty of the rim to remain rigid then its too weak for your riding style or your wheel builder is crap. I can vouch for William. He has build several wheels for me and none have broken. I can vouch for a few people: Lance Stephenson of Epic BIke Shop Shane Jane vna Vuuren previously of Bowman's Cycles William Keith at William's bike shop and Melvin Claasen at Bridge cycles. I trust no one outside of these 4 to work on my wheels, especially if they're handbuilt units and not factory. Your wheels are too weak. You need stronger rims. The Lefty has nothing to do with the wheel's strength
  15. The rims are just too weak. Period. Invest the money in a set of Corse Rims at Williams Bike shop in Somerset West. Problem solved
  16. Not more a layer of EP additive is needed. As long as the roller can roll the friction is inside the chain.
  17. yes its very good as well. Just wipe off the excess
  18. Indeed the wax based lube used for coating the chains at the factory is a high grade chain lube as used for motorcycles. Its just applied via an automatic applicator and excess is wiped off before the chain is packed , sealed and boxed. Wipe off the excess, fit it and go ride.
  19. It means you have applied to much lube.
  20. Shimano did think this one through and they're banking on their rband loyal riders prefering a 2x set up. The key point is a wider range and 22 shifts vs a narrower range and 11 shifts. to someone riding marathon's over varied terrain over a few days the option of 22 shifts is much more appealing because it removes the what if factor. also Shimano's front derailleur technology is superb and makes it an easy item to life with. SRAM has never matched Shimano in this area and by doing away with the front derailleur they shed a weakness and overcome it with a better thought out sprocket set. What Shimano i sbanking on is that the majority of riders will prefer to have the safer option of more available shifts. I think they may have got it right from a mass market marketing perspective.
  21. well does the 80W 90 take longer to drain? This does not hold true for any of the oils I've blended because they did not contain high levels of tackifier. These oils did nto take longer to drain because they were blended from the same base oils used for a 15W 40. SAE numbers are not absolute values but denote a ISO visocosity range. Scroll to the bottom of the page. It shaows comparative viscosities for SAE oils vs their actual ISO viscosities: http://www.tribology-abc.com/abc/viscosity.htm#SAE306
  22. Silicone based greases are flipping expensive anyway! Try Dow Corning for a real shocker.
  23. do you have a name for it?
