  1. And because you're not hopping in your saddle like a crazed rabbit on epoh... I wonder sometimes if those instructors really know what they are doing...
  2. Ek raak sommer skuins bebliksemd as ek sulke goed lees...
  3. Then I'm definitely doing something wrong!
  4. To get rid of the "tjoepie" around my waist and to see my sixpack again...
  5. Yeah, those 50 lumen lights were the business back then! I used a 200 lumen light last year on stage 3 and thought it to be enough. The missus gave me a Magiclight 880 with 2000 lumens and my goodness, what a difference! 45 spots left for the solo...
  6. Hey Dirt-Rider - The first 160km is now unsupported for the solo's. I always try to get off the mountain before sunset, but if you've got a good set of lights, you should be fine.
  7. Entries for the SOLO are open and going fast!
  8. It seems they were right with their "conclusions"... Any other comments?
  9. I tried to get some reaction from him on the "I hate it when..." thread, but he's not biting. I think he has his hands full defending his choice of celphone and its OS...
  10. If you want to see a free-for-all, come and check out the students in Potch! Luckily I drive a 2½ ton monster with steel bumpers, otherwise I would not be here today...
  11. Unforunately, yes, I am.
  12. According to some of the commentators on that site, it's the farmers' fault for having to transport people on the back of a truck. One even suggests apartheid as a scapegoat.
  13. Keep us updated please!
  14. Depends on what you classify as decent... We usualy ride in the army base, but it's not very technical. It's mostly farm gravel roads in the area.
  15. Good thing she kept her legs closed!
  16. Must be why I didn't see any! joe-cogs - don't be put off by the whole support car thing - just go and have fun! As I said, I've got the route on Google Earth if you're interested.
  17. What cows? I didn't see any...?
  18. Rad006 - nothing should break! It's all nice wide provincial gravel roads and hard pack surfaces. I think the most technical sections on the route is where we go from tar to gravel! If your bike is well looked after and serviced before the time, it should not give any problems.
  19. Joe-cogs - If you do the 4 man thing, see if you can do stage 4 if you are not that strong. I've played around on Google Earth and can send you the file. For a first time, the four man team will be a better bet. Pieterg - what time are you hoping for?
  20. Rad006 - it's not 190km, it's 161km. I checked on my profile from last year and double checked Google Earth. What will make it a bit more dificult is that you have to pack your lights and food/drinks in the bacpack. I rode last year and got my camelback at checkpoint 1 and my lights at checkpoint 2. It will just take a bit more planning. Joe-cogs - It's a blast! Until you find yourself alone in the middle of the desert at 2 o'clock at night... I found the vibe very nice and the sense of accomplishment at the end is something else... If you don't want to do the whole thing solo, you and your mate can do the team thing but then you do "only" 200km, if that. If you start training hard now and do a few marathon events, you should make it...
  21. This will be my 4th! Got the alarm set for 00:00:00 on the 16th... Will be a bit more dificult for the solo's now that we can only get to our cars on the 3rd checkpoint - 162km into the race!
  22. Has anyone got a map of the route? They still don't have it on their site. If you have one of each of the two routes, it would be appreciated.
  23. And now him and his family claim.... wait for it... wait for it...RACISM!!!!! http://www.sport24.co.za/OtherSport/Athletics/Mamabolo-a-victim-of-racism-20120621
  24. I didn't know he was such a short-****!
